To send a note to the cheeky fuckers who just stole our Valentines takeaway?

NC for obvious reasons.

We have just had to wait more than an extra hour for our delivery because the first one they sent was apparently accepted by the occupier when the teenaged driver knocked at the wrong house. The houses do look alike so mistakes happen and the weather is bad tonight.

I rang the restaurant manager when tracking said it was delivered (it wasn’t). He gave me the usual “on its way” flannel you get from managers who don’t know what’s happened. So I said don’t worry. Busy night. We will wait.

He rang back half an hour later, outraged himself at what he has realised and told me “naughty number blah-di-blah took it, my driver knocked the wrong door”. I didn’t ask which house. I didn’t get a chance. He obviously wanted me to know he wasn’t lying. So he told me specifically and now I know.

Luckily a matey dinner with ex instead of a romantic curry night.

Do I pop a note along to point out its not nice to take stuff you haven’t paid for? Just so they know?

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

I've had young drivers, old drivers, nice drivers, horrible drivers. I had 78% of all of Deliveroo knock on my door with some delivery for her.

And once had a huge box with some furniture delivered and the cow just left it with me, and when I went to tell her she informed me she's about to go for a coffee with friends and can she pick it up tomorrow. No, you ungrateful sod, it's either now or it's getting kicked out on the street.

Sorry OP. I know I'm unreasonable but the next pizza is mine.

You’re them aren’t you? 😂

I'd be passive aggressively posting about it on the local Facebook groups, as a thinly disguised recommendation for the restaurant and the way it handled it.

Viviennemary · 14/02/2022 22:17

Maybe it wasnt delivered at all. Thats what I would suspect.

StolenBhuna · 14/02/2022 22:18

@Lockheart @Blueemeraldagain Okay do maybe taking an order is a thing. Not many house shares round here but maybe possibly.

We’re quite enjoying choosing a response now, though. Grin

@Versaillaise

You could send them an anonymous valentine's day card: Roses are red, violets are blue, I hope you enjoyed my vindaloo
Or ask if they believe in korma Smile
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 14/02/2022 22:21

Unashamedly.

anotherdaynotanotherdollar · 14/02/2022 22:21

Roses are red,
violets are blue,
I hope you enjoyed
my vindaloo.. oh
And you owe me fucking 35quid too.

MrPenguinsPoppers · 14/02/2022 22:24

Son in law has had a hell of a time tonight convincing a guy the KFC he kept desperately thrusting towards them wasn’t his. He seemed most put out to have had to go away again.
DD was disappointed though, she thought he’d organised a surprise 😂

fruitsaladyummyummy · 14/02/2022 22:24

If I was putting the kids to bed and an order came, my husband would take it in no questions asked, he would just assume I ordered us something when I had the kids in the bath. Unless it's deliveroo/Uber eats I don't think they often have the slip with the address attached to the order, so if we took something in we would have no idea who it belonged to. We would knock on neighbours either side but if it's been delivered 50 houses away as in your circumstance there's not a chance we would be putting that level of effort in to find the owner!

StolenBhuna · 14/02/2022 22:28

It was just eat @fruitsaladyummyummy

I’m not sure if they come with address note. Didn’t notice this time as we were starving and just grabbed it to serve. Might peak in the recycling next time I nip to the loo.

@MrPenguinsPoppers Oops! Your poor disappointed DD. I hope she got flowers at least.

This happened to us. The takeaway delivery had my initials and house number on it. We checked the delivery person's receipt. We checked our banks in case it had been ordered in error. We didn't want to take it. Delivery person said if we don't take it it will go in bin when he gets back to the shop.
About an hour and a half later a neighbour knocked angrily demanding why we had taken her takeaway - maybe check you're ordering stuff to the right address and put your full name on it Angry

RachelGreeneGreep · 14/02/2022 22:28

I have had drivers at my door twice, insisting that the takeaway was mine. I directed them to the right house(s) both times though.

StolenBhuna · 14/02/2022 22:32

That’s a few of you who have had meals foisted on them, then.

Maybe I’ll leave it. I’ve entertained myself considering it.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 14/02/2022 22:32

Did they though or did they just overcommit because it was Valentine's Day and thus was a convenient excuse?

No way they'd have volunteered an actual house number, if that were the case.

Maybe they thought it was a Valentine's gift from a secret admirer. If you opened the door to somebody with a big bunch of flowers for you on V-day, you wouldn't reject them and start spluttering "but I didn't order these - there must be some mistake!"

Maybe, far from having a whale of a time eating your takeaway and chuckling together at the thought of getting a free nosh-up, they spent the rest of the day (and will spend the foreseeable future) in an icy-cold, tense atmosphere, as they both assume it must have been the other's fancy man/woman who sent it Grin

SirenSays · 14/02/2022 22:33

I've accidentally accepted the wrong takeaway before, I just thought mine was a bit early. Loads of people will be ordering food tonight, it might be an innocent mistake. I waited ages for the rightful owners to show up but they never did.

Marzipanfruit · 14/02/2022 22:33

Or try:
Roses are red
Roses are white
Hope our curry
Made you shi*#
Grin

viques · 14/02/2022 22:34

Another poem

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Tumeric’s yellow

I hope you spew.

Or:

Roses are red,

Violets are blue

Madras is in India

I wish you were too.

I would do a generic comment on the local community FB page, see what comes back as a reply and if they blame the driver.

I was expecting a delivery recently but only received the invoice.

Called the business owner up who said her driver delivered it to one of our DC, only thing is our DC are no longer at home.

As business owner was friends with the neighbours, she called them up and asked if they had my order which they did, but didn't bother to let me or the business owner know until confronted. Blamed it on one of their DC.

Makes me wonder what else has gone there that we should have received.

Midlifemusings · 14/02/2022 22:37

Many people would accept an order assuming someone else in the house ordered it. Not sure why you are dismissing all the posts mentioning this and insisting on believing they must be evil and in need of public shaming.

Sportslady44 · 14/02/2022 22:37

Jeez what a horrible post. Just make your own dinner. The hassle and the fact you have had to post about it.quicker to make your own meal.

Balonziaga · 14/02/2022 22:38

Roses are Red
And you're cheeky fuckers

SpiderinaWingMirror · 14/02/2022 22:38

We've had that . Daughter opened door and was handed a takeaway.
Didn't question it. When I found it on the side, was ready to call the restaurant but there wasn't a menu or any details.
Knocked the neighbours on both sides and opposite.
Nothing else I could do!
