@ClaudineClare

Hooray! 🥳The pandemic is over! Also, it is not over.☠️

God, his waffling was off the scale.

I thought it was over when we had Freedom Day in the summer. Have we had a second Freedom Day because the first went so well.

I note that there is now talk of a 4th round of vacinnes...

I’m so sick of him invoking history lessons in every single bloody speech. I’m sure it is relevant in some cases but I’m so distracted by his desire to be winston II.

Listen to this speech by the Kenya ambassador to the UNSC in contrast

Cornettoninja · 22/02/2022 14:33

Thanks @DuncinToffee.

I don’t understand why, if he was going to go the history route, he always has to invoke Churchill rather than perhaps explaining the historic situation between the Ukraine and Russia to give some context to his decisions. I’m not against invoking history, just his constant lazy use of Churchill references.

DuncinToffee · 22/02/2022 15:50

It's tiresome isn't it.

I like this Rosie Holt tweet
On the bright side if we do end up in World War III, we’ll be able to brush off all the “blitz spirit” comparisons we’d had to put to bed with Covid restrictions ending 👍

Wow damming figures there! though i'm surprised "incompetent" scores so low.

It’s the dislikeable score that bemuses me. He’s such a toad.

Hardly the most rigorous investigation is it?
“You can answer the questions, or not, or give us a prepared statement”
Sue Grays report was kicked into the long grass for this farce??

Big numbers are good right?

Like the biggest drop in GDP during the pandemic, the higher the cost of PPE the better, the more spent on consultants the more successful the pandemic is for our mates and so on...

Bigly is good says Big Dog.

He once again lied in Parliament today and ran away when called out.

balalake · 22/02/2022 20:46

CryingAtTheDiscotheque I doubt if Pippa Crerar or anyone else with the evidence the police were provided with could appeal to the Criminal Case Review commission (the lenient sentencing body), or the Police Complaints body (name I forget), given that only fines can be levied. More the pity, if things are not investigated properly.

cakeorwine · 22/02/2022 21:14

Did anyone hear him mention Germany and how people stayed at home if ill and how he would like that here?

Although he forgot to mention differences in sick pay levels.....

cakeorwine · 22/02/2022 21:16

His quote on Germany

“In this country, I often heard it said over the last couple of years that we have a habit of going back to work or going into work when we are not well and people contrast that with Germany for instance where I am told they are much more disciplined about not going into work if you are sick and I’m suggesting that is something we could learn.

Alexandra2001 · 22/02/2022 21:23

He lives in another fuckin world.

Peregrina · 22/02/2022 22:02

Germany? But that is part of the EU! What is he thinking of?

jgw1 · 22/02/2022 22:03

You are right. The trouble is that EU rules stipulated that the British have to work when they are ill, and it is taking a while to get out of this habit. Boris has it well sorted though, he only works if he is at parties.

Headline in The Times today (re the leaked questionnaire) is that Johnson is the first PM to be questioned under caution www.thetimes.co.uk/article/boris-johnson-interviewed-under-caution-by-police-over-lockdown-parties-fvdrllr9p

His "peashooter" Russia sanctions are looking pretty feeble - what is he playing at? Heard a few tories on LBC yesterday sounding baffled about this. Five tiny banks who nobody's heard of and three oligarchs who've been under US sanctions for years! Some speculation that he is giving others time to move their assets - not sure how credible that is, as surely these individuals would have seen this coming for weeks? Hmm.

DuncinToffee · 23/02/2022 09:52

Sky is reporting that no taxpayers' money was spent on food or drink consumed at Downing Street events being probed by the Metropolitan Police as part of its "partygate" inquiry, the government has insisted

Have they forgotten these were 'working' events Confused

UnconditionalSurrender · 23/02/2022 09:52

The Tory party links to Russia are getting more of a public airing today and yesterday than I thought they would as the announced sanctions were so weak. Maybe the Russia links will take him down if parties and Jimmy Savile won't. My 82 year old mother was telling me all about it. Normally she would be wittering on about Princes Charles or some irrelevance like that.

DuncinToffee · 23/02/2022 10:01

5 small banks and 3 individuals who were already sanctioned by the US and a threat with further sanctions giving people time to move their assets
Global Britain and Londongrad

borntobequiet · 23/02/2022 10:10

Tories we’re all ready to make a big deal about Labour Chinese connections, weren’t they? Did they suddenly pipe down when they remembered their own links with Russia? I thought it did go quiet very quickly.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 23/02/2022 10:14

As ever with Johnson, the bluster and bullshit bears little relation to the reality. "Barrage of sanctions" - deary me.
