YABU - those things really were totally coincidental that happened just after they were told to hand them in

The money wasted on the reputations of women who serve no useful purpose but managed to marry money infuriates me.
Except Colleen didn't marry money or go searching for a footballer to marry like Vardy. She met Wayne at school when they were about 14. They are very different women, and as much as I think Colleen is a total doormat, she doesn't deserve being lumped in with Vardy's ilk.

I do wonder about the people who "don't understand why anyone cares". Not caring personally is one thing, but if you can't see why a story like this: filled with twists and turns and eye-catching detail might be interesting then have you actually met any human beings?
I know right?

Mind you, I did a history degree, and it's the dominant mentality amongst history grads, so I find it extra weird that people aren't interested.

(ahh, when Heat came out on Thursday, and we'd troop out of the Twentieth Century Media seminar to analyse it in a cafe...)

I don’t understand why Vardy has taken this to court. Even if she wins, any money is a drop in the ocean to Colleen and she never going to be as popular or well liked. What reputation is she trying to save? She already has a bad reputation from I’m a celeb for being a bully. The whole thing is pointless attention seeking on RVs part. Team CR!

I never get how CR gets such sympathy....... she stays with Wayne not for money but for status. As Mrs Rooney, she gets VIP escorts through airports, VIP concert tickets, venues to open for her, charity nights out, paying for paps to follow her on her coffee/fake gym sessions ........ as the ex Mrs Rooney, she'll get nada. It's not about money or family for her and never has been.

She didnt have to prove it was Vardy personally doing it. When she made the accusation, she was very careful to say that the leak came from "Rebekah Vardy's account." Not from RV herself. Just her account. Which is ran by lots of PR people as well as RV.

All she had to do was show that it came from her account so it wouldnt be libel.

I'm a lawyer and RV's stories about phones in sea, deleted WhatsApps, etc are a litigator's nightmare (if you're acting for RV - CR's lawyers must be loving it).

RV looks dreadful in this. She would do well to remember what happened to Jeffrey Archer, for whom perjuring himself during his libel action did not end well.

Because the Narc red mist rage took her over when she was exposed as nasty and duplicitous.

The exposure of her fragile ego ramps her up into “attack and annihilate mode” (this is war) and she can’t see sense.

Cost millions to date. When she looses wonder what will happen to her marriage?

According to this quote from the Guardian article it suggests that Vardy and her Agent may have been the source of other stories in The Sun about different Footballers and their wives/girlfriends too;

"The disclosures suggests Vardy and Watt had repeated conversations about stories going to the Sun. At one point they discussed whether to provide the newspaper with a story about an England footballer who had a secret child as a result of an affair. A month later the Sun published a story with the headline “Married England ace has lovechild”.

Vardy has accepted that payments were made to her by the Sun in the run-up to Rooney’s accusation. Rooney’s lawyers are seeking disclosure of these payments."

She can't have many friends left in that community anymore if this is true.

That Guardian article is very damning and paints Vardy in a terrible light.

I don't understand why she's so stupid to sue for libel. Surely she could have denied it without going down the legal route. This will cost her a fortune

From public point of view, Vardy has further damaged her own reputation. It lacks credibility that all those many devices of hers happened to be wiped or damaged at the point she was ordered to disclose. She's the one suing so you'd think she'd want to provide all the evidence & devices she could, if none of it was true. I can imagine her legal team are very unhappy.

Team Colleen - all she did was fight her corner and not take anymore of RV's shit. Good on her. By contrast, RV is doing what typical narcissists do. As someone else said, when people start to see through them, they ramp up the attack mode - but it won't get her far in court, they see their like every single day.

Marriage gives a degree of control.
Or it might be that she's Catholic and doesn't want divorce. Idk, but I don't see her as a doormat or in the same category as Vardy. It's probably very hard to leave a man you've been with since you were 14, even if that man is grim!

A perfect case study for sunken costs fallacy. Plus I feel like she really does love him. Whether he's worthy of that or not is another matter.

@BoodleBug51 - exactly - stays with him all for status and brand a bit like Posh and Becks Hmm.

They're quite happy for their DH's to have affairs and be shown up for it, yet most women I know think less of them for staying with a cheater. But yes, status is more important to them. Gives such a bad image to young women or men. Stay with a partner (especially if married) and it's ok if they're wealthy or you don't want it to be made public as long as you can keep you cushy life and gym/Wag lifestyle... Hmm.

@MsTSwift - I've worked with solicitors - trust me they do gossip a lot in the office (not down the pub!) about their celebrity clients.

Totally agreed - the winners are the solicitors. They don't give a shit about who wins or not as long as their bill is paid, they just laugh about these cases. Libel/slander is generally hard to prove and very costly so most mere mortals don't bother....unlike two vacuous airhead WAGs

@oldwhyno - yeah - Vardy comes across as a typical mean girl and liar. I'm not really a fan of Colleen either - but there's no way she'll back down without a fight and she wanted to defend this case typical Aries woman!
