Phone dropped in the North Sea? Everything 'unfortunately' wiped from devices?

YABU - those things really were totally coincidental that happened just after they were told to hand them in

YANBU yeah ...right...

Just that Sarah Harding story shows where Vardy is at. Can't understand the reasons. Is it money she wants or the chance to be some sort of Social Media queen. It certainly isn't working out.

Diverseopinions · 19/05/2022 06:55

I think Coleen shouldn't have done the public shaming thing - " It was.........Rebecca Vardy'". It would be like a group of mums falling out at the school gate, and one of them publicly turning on another and the result being everyone else turns on them and piles on, criticizing and mocking them on social media. But with the addition that with famous people, you have the trolls and sick threats, also. You cannot have this sort of vigilante action.
I understand that everybody in Coleen's circle probably knew that Rebekah was the 'Secret Wag', and, also, she may have done the same and leaked stuff about others too, but a dignified response would have been better: a solicitor's letter.

I cannot comprehend that anyone famous could post stuff about their personal life - to the extent that a gender selection story would be believed and considered in keeping and actually genuine. Why not avoid personal social media for anything that you'd want to be private, and just have a very small circle for really close, home-related, privately-meaningful stuff, and not all the WAGS on your personal social media, because they can't all really be close friends.

I don't blame her for doing the public shaming. If she had spoken to her privately Vardy would have just denied it and wouldn't have stopped.
As Rooney says she may have also have twisted things and it could have got even worse. It's not Rooney's fault that trolls abused Vardy as a result. They could do that with anything so does that mean the newspapers can't report on anything about anyone more?

The fact that Vardy thought it believable doesn't mean anyone else would. She doesn't seem like the smartest of people given the fact that she took this to court in the first place!

Hunderland · 29/07/2022 12:16

...and the ruling is in...and RV lied and lied.

Glad for CR. Wonder how much ££ she'll get.

But they have made friends with each other over the years of being thrust together in hotels for events, trips out, team mates wives meetings etc. It is totally believable that you have a private account with people you think are friends and use it like so many millions of other people do.

Personally? I don't think she should have named Vardy, she should have had a discussion with her in person, and then blocked her on everything. Trust me the way people monitor who follows whom and who "likes" what on IG and fb everyone else allowed to follow the private account would have known. If Rooney had said "i know who it is, they're blocked" - it would have been more classy and the others who may have been sharing info with her would have noticed and maybe also taken appropriate action.

In Vardy's defence - she probably thought she had to go to court and win to restore her reputation. Out of court wouldn't have cut it for her i think. She gambled and lost.

Rooney was the defendant, so all she will get is costs (and they won't be enough to cover her actual costs).

ImAvingOops · 29/07/2022 14:13

If I was Rooney, I'd consider this money well spent.

SueSaid · 29/07/2022 14:53

Vardy always comes across as a rather unpleasant person on any TV appearances so it's good that she has got her comeuppance here. Yes they're highly privileged people who should have better things to do but it's the principle isn't it, you can leak private info and expect to get away with it then sue when caught.

SueSaid · 29/07/2022 14:55

Can't*

DillonPanthersTexas · 29/07/2022 15:01

She gambled and lost.

Pity the poor sap who married her and now has to foot the bill.

Plus, it's not like any of this was Colleens idea. The better things to do argument only applies to Vardy, who I agree has always seemed unpleasant.

I believe CR did try to stop it going to Court. RV’s arrogance is breathtaking. Sad really.

misteek · 29/07/2022 16:50

The "Rooney Kids" are more likely to be envied by other kids at school as his Dads a famous footballer, why should they know about tabloid gossip about him?

Thefruitbatdancer · 29/07/2022 17:02

Will this mean that Rebekah Vardy becomes a celebrity social pariah because of the verdict? I suppose nobody will want to associate with her in case their private lives ends up in the papers. Hopefully, she will disappear from our screens and we won't have to see her plastic face again.

I doubt it. She'll continue to play the victim and appear on daytime telly faux sobbing.

BeenThereBoughtTheTeeShirt · 29/07/2022 18:09

Coleen tried FOUR times to settle out of court. It is a shame she still gets screwed over as far as the 65k agent costs go*, regardless of what Rooneys are worth.
*she had to pay Watt their legal fee after it was judged she could not being high court claim against her.

Yes, I understand Rooney tried to settle out of court 3 or 4 times, but Vardy refused. She seems to have genuinely believed she would win.

Florenz · 29/07/2022 18:14

I think the whole WAG thing needs to come to an end. You don't hear about "HABs" in the womens game.

What kind of lives do these women have apart from being married to famous footballers? Don't any of them have jobs to go to?

C0mfyChairP0se · 29/07/2022 18:22

Team Rooney.

Vardy betrayed her for money and to further herself.

Then vardy sued her.

It's not six of one and half a dozen of the other at all. That's very sexist. A woman can't stand up for herself without automatically being as bad as the person who betrayed her/sued her??

Louise0701 · 29/07/2022 18:45

@misteek they go to the same school as many others premiership footballers children so not many will be envious as they have very similar lifestyles.

Florenz · 29/07/2022 18:53

I know Colleen has been with Wayne Rooney since they were kids and he got famous very young, so I assume she's never worked, but has Rebekah Vardy ever had a job?

Thefruitbatdancer · 29/07/2022 19:14

Wasn't Vardy an FI girl parading herself up and down the track to bag a rich guy?

Louise0701 · 29/07/2022 19:20

@Florenz yeah she worked in nightclubs and bars.

No. Their husbands are at the top of the profession. Any job a wife or partner has has is in some respects a hobby that might pay. There will be exceptions but in the main they are SAHM with a large disposable income.
