To think that JK Rowling is being vilified for standing for women and children?

Getting sick of seeing her being torn down constantly on social media.
Her essays are thoughtful and careful and she's primarily concerned with safeguarding.

AIBU to say it's a witch hunt?

'JKR's only 'crime' is to believe that sex is a biological reality and matters. This is the belief of everyone I know apart from men's right's activists and the hugely misguided Scottish government.'

Yep, despite all this hand wringing on Twitter and virtue signalling Stonewall nonsense, behind closed doors most people privately agree - because it is a fact of course that men cannot just become women.

ExtraPlinky · 05/02/2022 16:46

Neil Gaiman and Philip Pullman both stuck the knife in. I lost massive respect for them both.

I am so grateful to JK Rowling. I doubt I would ever have the courage she has, despite being a strong supporter of women’s rights.

The threats of rape she receives only serve to prove how right she is!

Absolute hero of mine.

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 05/02/2022 16:49

She is so elegant, measured and intelligent. They have to try to stop people listening to her and a cult needs an eneny

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 05/02/2022 16:50

As to equating trans people with sex offenders, well some of them are. At least with the same regularity as the rest of the male population

It's higher! 50% of trans identified males in prison, are in there for committing sexual offences.

Some are rapists. Some are pedophiles. Some are peadophile rapists.

Come on CorrBlimey. I am happy to provide this evidence. We're all still waiting for your proof.

JKR is bloody amazing. I absolutely adore her.

UsernameNotAvailableHmm · 05/02/2022 16:51

YANBU

I am so proud of JKR

lordloveadog · 05/02/2022 16:53

She is a wonderful human being

BobbieMeserole · 05/02/2022 16:59

Team JKRFlowers

The ignorant love hating, it makes them feel important. Must be an unpleasant way to live.

LittleMissMoggy · 05/02/2022 17:06

Love her for speaking up. I am too afraid to speak up in real life. I recently encountered a very male presenting man in some public toilets, everyone outside was saying they don't feel they could challenge him coming into the ladies. I wonder if he came in by accident but who knows, made be feel unsafe and highly anxious though. How can people not see where this is going?!?!

turbonerd · 05/02/2022 17:13

Nooo. Not Neil Gaiman too.
Argh.

Thanks for the quote-tutorial FOJN 🤗

FOJN · 05/02/2022 17:26

I recently encountered a very male presenting man in some public toilets, everyone outside was saying they don't feel they could challenge him coming into the ladies.

I've seen videos of men using women's loos in pubs and clubs, peeing with the door open, when challenged by women they simply say they are a woman. The challenge ends there or you are a transphobic bigot. This is the reality of self ID and it isn't even law. People are afraid to speak up because of a potential backlash so everyone assumes other people are OK with it which makes people afraid to speak up etc etc

Slothtoes · 05/02/2022 18:01

I love JK Rowling. For her incredible charity work and contribution to the UK.
And for speaking up when she’s aware of women having a really hard time despite the abuse she got. For writing the Ickabog to explain some of the problems of authoritarianism for kids. For having in one of her first jobs, worked at Amnesty interviewing victims of torture.
For making the vastly impressive life that she has for herself after her own struggles and abuse she had been faced with in life. I find her so inspiring. I think her story and the way she does things give me hope. She’s a role model for me.

LaPufalina · 05/02/2022 19:28

She's immense! Smile

CityMumma78 · 05/02/2022 21:04

YANBU - it’s a witch hunt! Men silencing women… JKR has said NOTHING controversial. I still love her and admire her work.

VelvetChairGirl · 05/02/2022 21:06

Well @CorrBlimeyGG hasnt been back, wonder what the GG stands for maybe one of them is Gynephobia and all this dealing with women has caused a massive panic attack.

scalliondays · 05/02/2022 21:08

Exactly she is immense! She's brave for standing up and doing the right thing when she could have kept quiet. I think she attracts so much vitriol because she shows other people who should have more backbone how spineless they are.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/02/2022 21:11

@CorrBlimeyGG

(And yes, I've read her 'essay'.)
You need better comprehension skills then.
CityMumma78 · 05/02/2022 21:28

CorrBlimeyGG - examples and evidence?
Thought not!!!

DrSbaitso · 05/02/2022 21:28

@CorrBlimeyGG

She is transphobic, she conflates trans women with sex abusers. She does not speak for all women, thankfully.
When? When did she say that transwomen are sex abusers? Quote and link, please.
purpleme12 · 05/02/2022 21:32

Yes it's a witch-hunt
Agree I admire her bravery
I'm not that brave

purpleme12 · 05/02/2022 21:33

And it's very sad the way it's going, how so many people think negatively of her now 😞

Georgeskitchen · 05/02/2022 21:33

One of the most shocking aspects of this is how many women have joined the "Lynch mob"
Although I dare say that those in the public eye are too scared to support her for fear of receiving the same treatment t!!

DrSbaitso · 05/02/2022 21:34

It's become an easy, lazy way of signalling your virtue without having to do any reading or thinking.

I asked someone a little while ago to tell me what JKR said that was transphobic. She replied that she "said it without saying it".

She didn't say it, then. Alright.

Viviennemary · 05/02/2022 21:35

She is too big for her boots. Can't stand her. Like the books though.

DrSbaitso · 05/02/2022 21:36

How so?
