To be miffed after this phone call from DS school

So DS is 14. I just got a phone call from a woman at the high school (I don’t recognise her name and not even sure if she is a teacher or whatever) and she tells me several members of staff and students have noticed my DS smells! I am mortified obviously. He has regular showers and deodorant etc.

I guess I’m miffed because I don’t know what to do about it except tell him every day to have a shower and deodorant which I do anyway with all the kids. I’m just shocked that several students and teachers have noticed when me and DH haven’t. Also kind of wish they had sent me an email rather than an embarrassing phone call Blush

Someone posted on another thread that putting white vinegar in the wash when washing the dogs bedding gets rid of the smell.

As much as I hate Phone talking , I definitely think talking and explaining was the correct way in this case.
Gave you a chance to discuss immediately rather than fret.

i think the phone call was nicer than an email, my brother had problems as an adult even though he always showered, it was his clothes that had the smell. it was a damp smell, maybe check your washer or dryer, put more fabric softner in or do what i do, give them a spray with a fabric freshner if he is wearing the same jumper twice or spray his coat/jacket each night. just don't make him feel bad about it

Might have got him mixed up with someone else if it isn’t a prank.

Just a thought. If you have dogs, and he’s riding in the rain - does he now smell of wet dog by the time he gets in?

Do you dry his clothes in doors on an airier or similar ? That can often make clothes smell a bit stale even though they’re clean. And if you dry all the family clothes that way then yours may smell the same so you won’t have noticed the smell because it’s there all the time. If he showers and uses anti pererspirant then I can’t think what else it could be. Unless it’s a medical issue - hope not!
