Just that really, what words appear in the tabloid press but are never used by people in everyday life.

I’ll start with:

Revellers
Tottered
Hit-maker

@TrickyD

Adorable - any young member of the royal family.
... in this sweet snap.
Teenagequeenwithaloadedgun · 04/02/2022 12:27

Civil service mandarins

Frankola · 04/02/2022 12:55

Lady love

JaneJeffer · 04/02/2022 13:01

Jane Jeffer, 53, cut a forlorn figure in an ill fitting cardigan as she read this thread.

strawberryshortcake1 · 04/02/2022 13:06

Slammed as in strawberryshortcake slammed the Daily Mail for writing an article about her.

HowlingKale · 04/02/2022 13:18

Jane if you come a cropper in anyway you will suddenly be "effortlessly glamorous JJ in her £ X00,000 house."

Bunnybunny1 · 04/02/2022 13:23

Bunnybunny1 flaunted her burgeoning bump while putting out the recycling, after 2 weeks of self isolation, with nothing but carbohydrates to keep her company.

FairNotFair · 04/02/2022 13:27

Oh, and let's not forget "ARCTIC BLAST" for the dramatising of typical winter weather

AuntMasha · 04/02/2022 13:58

BARBECUE SUMMER

drigon · 04/02/2022 16:46

Age-defying physique/ ensemble

JaneJeffer · 04/02/2022 16:53

I'm kind of looking forward to coming a cropper now Howling but this cardigan is off to the charity shop for sure Grin

Heartthrob for soap stars unless they are unattractive then they become "Coronation Street favourite".

FlapsInTheWind · 04/02/2022 16:59

Spiralled out of control.

DisforDarkChocolate · 04/02/2022 17:02

Flaunt, in the context of his wearing clothes.

Recycle, in the context of wearing clothes more than once. No, the DofC is not frugal because she wears a £2K dress twice.

JudgeJ · 04/02/2022 17:04

'shares a child with' when they mean that a couple have a child. Shares a child makes me think they have a leg each!

JudgeJ · 04/02/2022 17:08

@Owlink

Donned - Kate donned a simple jacket. Wowed onlookers - Laura wowed onlookers in a complicated jacket.
'Kate recycled a simple jacket', ie she's worn it two or three times. I recycle my coats, I realised today that one of my coats was bought with Christmas money from my MIL and she died in 1999, that's recycling!
JudgeJ · 04/02/2022 17:10

@Ameanstreakamilewide

The Sundays used to use the euphemism 'intimacy took place'.

It usually accompanied a 'soccer love rat' story!

Or in Private Eye speak they enjoyed Ugandan relations, never understood the origins of that euphanism.
dontgiveahoot · 04/02/2022 17:33

Blossoming baby bump
Gushed

Both phrases make me cringe!

HesterShaw1 · 04/02/2022 17:35

SLAMMED.

No one is criticised. They are SLAMMED.

HesterShaw1 · 04/02/2022 17:37

I've been beaten to it with SLAMMED

dontgiveahoot · 04/02/2022 17:39

Oh, and fans "go wild" about mediocre pop/soap/tv stars latest clothes/plastic surgery/shopping trip. I have this vision of someone screaming like a 60s teenager at a Beatles concert over Holly Willoughby's latest outfit...

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 04/02/2022 17:55

Showcased

derxa · 04/02/2022 18:01

@HesterShaw1

SLAMMED.

No one is criticised. They are SLAMMED.

Holly Willoughby was SLAMMED recently by fans who said the necklace she was selling on her website cost far too much. ( 'Fans' meaning the Daily Mail)
ApricotCrush · 04/02/2022 18:22

Some MP refused to deny the latest accusation. In other words he walked past a reporter across the street who shouted a question at him.

Sithee · 04/02/2022 21:15

“Steps out” as in, some one went out somewhere
“Flaunted, shows off or showcased” bikini body/ new hairdo/ “toned pins” as in someone went to the beach/ left the house after a visit to the hairdresser/ wore a dress or skirt

BookFiend4Life · 04/02/2022 21:29

How about "set pulses racing"
