Just that really, what words appear in the tabloid press but are never used by people in everyday life.

I’ll start with:

Revellers
Tottered
Hit-maker

OP posts:

Trousered (as in large amounts of cash)

Trousered (as in large amounts of cash)
I'm having a bad day and that made me laugh out loud.

So thank you for that. 😂

linerforlife · 03/02/2022 19:12

Burgeoning baby bump!

Ameanstreakamilewide · 03/02/2022 19:15

The Sundays used to use the euphemism 'intimacy took place'.

It usually accompanied a 'soccer love rat' story!

WhyMeLord · 03/02/2022 19:18

Leggy display

I've never had a romp but I reckon I'd like one. Unless it's with Dean Gaffney, although he does have experience in the romp department so maybe I'm too quick to dismiss him?

Yes it was always Dean Gaffney love rat or Lee Ryan love rat. Happy days! 😂

I’m noticing ‘beloved’ a lot recently. As in ‘the beloved tv show friends’ think they just mean popular.

duckme · 03/02/2022 19:40

Slammed.

ALongHardWinter · 03/02/2022 19:54

Fury/furious.
Blooms (as in flowers).
Locks (as in hair).
Ballooned (as in gaining weight).

anotherchocolate · 03/02/2022 19:54

Sent temperatures soaring
Washboard abs
Highly anticipated
Snaps (photos)
Hit TV series
Flex

mum2jakie · 03/02/2022 19:58

Flocked - as in crowds flocking to the beaches in lockdown breaches

Passiveobserver · 03/02/2022 22:54

Wowed

ALongHardWinter · 03/02/2022 23:07

Forgot the heatwave ones! No report about an ongoing heatwave in the UK would be complete without the words 'baked','sizzled' or 'basked' in there somewhere.

Florenz · 03/02/2022 23:08

Gorged
Guzzled

herpainsceased · 03/02/2022 23:11

"shared" or "welcomed" for a child

drigon · 03/02/2022 23:48

It's a lot funnier to read through trash like the Julia and Kanye 'story' mentioned( or 'Ye' as he seems to be known) after this thread! On the back of this, adding 'mum-of-one' etc and ' lovebirds' to the list.
Must admit, her outfit would be a bit nippy for Feb!
Very funny thread, has cracked me upGrin

BritWifeInUSA · 04/02/2022 04:30

Wed.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 04/02/2022 04:45

YY to all the heatwave ones “Britain to sizzle as mercury tops 30 degrees”
Jetted off when reporting a celebrity’s holiday (usually Katie price)

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 04/02/2022 05:29

This is brilliant. So spot on and has really made me laugh. Something tells me this will be one thread the DM won't be considering stealing and posting on a quiet news day. It wouldn't exactly be 'showcasing' their best work would it?

@ALongHardWinter. Yes, the heat wave stories are always the same. On the other end of the scale (and appropriate to your user name) is the hilariously dramatic story the Daily Express print every single year threatening a BIG FREEZE which doesn’t usually materialise. We are warned that Britain will FREEZE as the mercury PLUMMETS and ICY BLASTS sweep through the UK. We might even be ENGULFED by a BLANKET of snow.

Curiousmouse · 04/02/2022 10:13

"Agony"

Curiousmouse · 04/02/2022 10:16

Meltdown
Tug of war

TrickyD · 04/02/2022 10:37

Adorable - any young member of the royal family.

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 04/02/2022 11:32

Penned, as in a song/story being penned by someone - does nobody just write stuff anymore?
