David Beckham reveals wife Victoria has eaten the same meal every day for 25 years

FlexibleWorkingDenied · 01/02/2022 19:22

Apparently Victoria Beckham will only ever eat grilled fish and steamed veg. Every day for 25 years. She says she won’t eat food cooked in oil, butter or sauces, red meat, or dairy.

AIBU to think life is too short to live without butter!

@A580Hojas

Interesting. I wonder why he feels it is his place to share about her eating disorder?
Absolutely. A horrible thing to do actually
tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 01/02/2022 19:50

Apologies I didn't read the thread I quoted properly.

I'd say I wondered why he feels it's his place to share that at all.

I guess it takes the spotlight away from his dodgy World Cup sponsor activities Confused

IcedPurple · 01/02/2022 19:51

Would you say she is a healthy normal weight?

Has someone been along to say 'We've lost sight of what a normal weight is" yet?

LucilleBluth · 01/02/2022 19:51

This thread is so MN. Of course it’s not fucking normal to eat the same thing for 25 years. Ffs

doitwithlove · 01/02/2022 19:52

If thats her happy place on food - who are we to judge her. If he isn't happy he needs to grow a pair and rectify the situation

Peachandpearl · 01/02/2022 19:52

Fussy eating is so frustrating in a partner, even when you know the cause. It can very frustrating to have a love of food and cooking and not being able to share it with. They just have been together two decades now, haven't they? 20 years of cooking home meals, private chefs and meals out, and all she ever has is fish and vegetables, I think you either turn it into a bit of a joke, something to tease them for but in a loving way, or go a bit mad. How many people comment on their spouse putting ketchup on everything or snoring horribly? It might not be kind but loads of people do it. I think his error was to do so in the media, but then how celebrities work out what to share and what to keep private when every part of their lives is on show I have no idea.

CounsellorTroi · 01/02/2022 19:53

How does she have an eating disorder? She's eating a healthy meal every night. Probably more eating disorders on slimming world.

It’s. Ot a healthy meal, not nearly varied enough. Latest research suggests that a healthy gut is really important to overall healthand that to maintain a healthy gut you need to eat as great a variety of plant foods as possible - not just veg but fruit, whole grains, nuts, seeds and pulses. Being skinny is not the be all end end all of good health.

VB has an eating disorder. .

Boomchikawowwow · 01/02/2022 19:53

Who cares? Maybe she has a bowl of Frosties for breakfast and a Big Mac for lunch, then balances it out by eating fish and veg for dinner every night 🤷‍♀️

FabriqueBelgique · 01/02/2022 19:54

I’m in awe and wish I could do it! Cant fault it.

peaceanddove · 01/02/2022 19:54

She isn't disciplined or controlled. She has an eating disorder. If she was genuinely disciplined then she would happily eat a far wider range of foods whilst still maintaining a healthy body weight.

I judge her because she has a daughter. And many women have really awful relationships with food as a direct result of their mother's disordered eating.

I know a woman whose children ended up with malnutrition because she was so scared of fats and carbs.

This is not a normal way to eat and it certainly isn't something to be admired in a mother.

You can shoot me now for being a crap feminist.

HomeHomeInTheRange · 01/02/2022 19:55

@LovejoysVase

How many diet plans have there been over the years that suggest this way of eating, and how many fat people are criticised for not following it?

Now a wealthy, successful woman is revealed to be following this diet, and she’s criticised?

Honestly, you can’t win.

There is a diet plan that says eat nothing but steamed veg and grilled fish, no fats or oils, for 25 years? As a permanent diet?

It’s an eating disorder.

Summerhillsquare · 01/02/2022 19:57

You can absolutely fault it. The body needs some fat, a little salt, a little protein and plenty of carbohydrates to maintain good health. Such a meal is missing a lot of essentials.

Rigidity around food is also disordered eating. It's called orthorexia.

busyeatingbiscuits · 01/02/2022 19:57

I'm sure her chef is making sure that it's varied and interesting fish and veg every day!

It's not liked humans evolved to have hugely varied diets really, is it - if you look at most hunter gatherer societies they probably eat a fairly limited selection of animals, fish and plants from their immediate area.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 01/02/2022 19:58

@Joystir59

Grilled fish and steamed veg us a fab healthy diet. There are a lot of different fish and a lot of different veg. Nothing wrong whatsoever with her diet. Healthy normal weight people stay healthy normal weight people by eating food such as this.
This is just not true and you clearly know nothing about EDs.

She eats like this because she is terrified of weight gain. The ED is holding a gun to her head and she is being completely controlled by it.

It's actually really sad and depressing that so many on this thread think this is okay. Explains a lot about the huge increase in EDs that disordered eating and thinness is still regarded as something to aspire to.

Whingasaurus · 01/02/2022 19:59

She suffered with extreme sickness in pregnancy and this often leaves women unable to eat in a way most of us perceive as normal. Perhaps veg and fish suits her. This thread is full of bodyshaming and judgemental comments.

DisappearingGirl · 01/02/2022 19:59

But is her thinness part of her success? Would she have been as successful if she wasn’t as thin? And if not why not? Or does she personally feel she wouldn’t have been as successful without being so thin?

I think being extremely slim was a massive part of her success, both in the Spice Girls and afterwards. I think 90s fashion was incredibly unforgiving. I mean all eras focus on women's bodies too much but there were no J-Lo / Kardashian curves - looking at the clothes the Spice Girls and other famous young women wore, you really had no choice but to be stick thin.

So I don't think it's great that she has such a restricted diet, but I don't blame her personally. Imagine the media frenzy if she put on weight.

HangoverSquare · 01/02/2022 19:59

Presumably she sticks to her fish and veg dinner even on high days and holidays such as Christmas Day.

Mirw · 01/02/2022 19:59

Whose business is it what she eats? And as some gave said, why does DB feel he has to share this with the world. Selfish a*!

AuntieJoyce · 01/02/2022 20:00

David if you’re reading you can pop round here for a steak and red wine anytime you like Grin

Nothing steaming in sight. Except me after said wine Wine

Gwenhwyfar · 01/02/2022 20:00

"The body needs some fat, a little salt, a little protein and plenty of carbohydrates to maintain good health. Such a meal is missing a lot of essentials."

That meal has a lot of protein, carbs in the veg. I don't know if she cooks it in a bit of oil, but that would provide the fat.
Also, it's only one of her meals a day so presumable NOT all she eats.

CounsellorTroi · 01/02/2022 20:00

They would have eaten lots of fruit and berries which would be regarded as evil carbs today.

I can't see David Beckham marrying a fat woman either.
Bunnycat101 · 01/02/2022 20:01

I’m surprised so many posters are defending this. I don’t doubt being in the public eye is tough and I suspect lots of celebrities have a very similar diet but it doesn’t mean there isn’t a degree of disordered eating involved. At my thinnest, I could only get there by being very controlled and it was a bit joyless. I’d rather have the freedom and an extra stone.

That said, with her money, they could probably have a chef that makes fish and veg more varied than the average person could. The more telling thing would be what she has for the rest of the day and if she’s as controlled.

forlornlorna · 01/02/2022 20:02

I thought it was quite mean of her husband to tell people about this tbh.
