To wonder how you feel today if you voted for Boris Johnson at the last election?

It’s absolutely no surprise that Boris is behaving in this way but I cannot actually believe that we have a prime minister like this. He is utterly morally bankrupt. If you voted for him how do you feel now?

@MarshaBradyo

I have to assume that a large proportion of people in the UK don't care much about Partygate and didn't care much about Cummings because they weren't obeying the rules either.

No I wouldn’t go with these assumptions. Compliance has been pretty high here and often people o/s just looked at media pics etc

I recall many being cross about Cummings, at the time, it was infuriating. And actually polling for Cons tanked shortly after so probably related.

Then I cannot understand why anger isn't higher. If Jacinda Ardern had backed a civil servant who breached lockdown rules she'd have been tipped out in 5 minutes. I have no idea what the public would have made of parties in the Beehive or Premier House but it wouldn't have been pretty.
@AllThingsServeTheBeam - I was supporting someone who was being personally abused because of the political choice she made. We live in a democracy - Your vote/your views do not trump other people’s, sorry about that.
Personally abused? Haha 🤣 Please

nimbus5000 · 31/01/2022 21:19

Maybe you need to stop being so vile and aggressive

Cattenberg · 31/01/2022 21:20

Personally I think we should all learn lessons and move on. There are bigger things to worry about, such as troops being amassed on the borders of Ukraine.....

Let's just get on with more important things - including the 100,000 Russian soldiers currently threatening the Ukraine.

Yes, let’s talk about Russia. Why might Putin have wanted to interfere with the Brexit referendum? Could Russia somehow benefit from a weakened and less harmonious EU? What about an increasingly isolated UK?

London is used to launder vast amounts of Russian “dirty money”. Will Johnson tackle this? Is Johnson also concerned by the increase in Russian submarine patrols in the seas surrounding the British Isles? The Royal Navy recently detected the biggest Russian Navy patrol that they’d seen for 25 years.

I wish people would stop starting these threads. It would be nice to have some good natured political debates on MN. But there is never a debate, just endless name calling and passive aggressive emojis.

topcat2014 · 31/01/2022 21:25

I joined the Conservative party explicitly to vote against Boris Johnson as leader, and voted for Jeremy Hunt.

Notwithstanding the outcome of that, I voted for our sitting Tory MP.

Incidentally our MP has posted quite clearly how he disapproves of all that has gone on with regard to the parties and will make no effort to defend them.

There was no way on earth I would ever vote for the lunatic fringe that was Corbyn.

I am on the board of two charities btw. I think you will find people are not as two dimensional as you would like to believe.

MarshaBradyo · 31/01/2022 21:25

By what mechanism?

I was so angry back then but had no where to direct it, I don’t recall if I wrote to my MP but maybe I did, I was SO annoyed.

I haven’t searched when it happened as no appetite to but if you look at Cons polling there’s a big dip around that time.

To wonder how you feel today if you voted for Boris Johnson at the last election?

Perfectly fine thanks

I will when the Tories are a thing of the past. I don't vote for vile and aggressive. I vote for everyone. Even the twats that are happy with Johnson. But it doesn't mean I need to keep my views quiet.
TomPinch · 31/01/2022 21:31

By what mechanism?

By her MPs. Or a portion of then acting in concert with the Opposition, if necessary. Public pressure would have just been too strong to ignore.

We have pretty much the same constitutional set-up as the UK.

I haven’t searched when it happened as no appetite to but if you look at Cons polling there’s a big dip around that time.

And it recovered. As I think it might if Johnson isn't made to resign. Anger is one thing. Sustained anger is another.

Blossomtoes · 31/01/2022 21:31

Good to hear New Zealand has far higher standards. I wish I wasn’t too old to emigrate.

It was awful to see at the time.

But we’ve had a lot thrown at us here wrt Covid and my mind blanks a bit looking back.

So you didn't vote for vile or aggressive, but are happy to call other people twats - double standards much!

We have our own problems!
Ostryga · 31/01/2022 21:38
@Ostryga - WTF are you on about?! I simply stuck up for the previous poster as it was getting rather personal. You’ve taken it a step further though - it’s a shame you can’t have an intelligent debate without being personally abusive.
What in what I said was personal!
? I was just asking a question. How can you or anyone else support the party when they openly cause murders and horrific grief?

wanttomarryamillionaire · 31/01/2022 21:38

I really couldn't give a toss! It doesn't matter who we vote into government because they are ALL the same, if it hadn't of been Boris up to his neck in it, it would have been whoever else we voted in!!! I don't believe there are any genuinely decent politicians left any more, power corrupts them all. So I just vote for the one who promises the things I want, this time it was Boris getting brexit done.

Kendodd · 31/01/2022 21:39

Well @Russianspy101 seems absolutely delighted with the job Johnson is doing.
I'm sure Putin is as well.

barms90 · 31/01/2022 21:53

It's amazing let's not forget all the good stuff borris has done???what good stuff has he done?? Haven't we got one of the highest covid death rates in the Europe??and now that he has got brexit done...please explain how u are personally benefiting from this??thanks.
And a lot of people seem to be missing the point. It's not that he had parties It's that he lied about them in parliament which is u heard of.

nimbus5000 · 31/01/2022 21:54

You don’t need to keep them quiet no, just civil would be nice

I am being civil. I haven't used the word cunt
Kendodd · 31/01/2022 22:09

I am genuinely interested in how an ordinary conservative voter really feels now. Not to apportion blame on them (because it really, really is not the fault of the electorate) but just actually wanting to know how it affects how voters feel about the prime minister and the party given that you gave them support before.

Of course it's the fault of the electorate. If people voted for this mob they can own the mess they've made and all the damage they've done to the country.

StoneofDestiny · 31/01/2022 22:13

Funny how so many on here said they voted for their local candidate (unrelated to their thoughts on the party leader, Boris Johnson), but so many say they voted Tory because they didn't want Corbyn (suddenly not thinking they could vote for the local Labour candidate and it would be unrelated to the Labour Leader)

StoneofDestiny · 31/01/2022 22:13

they are ALL the same Not true at all - there are decent MPs in all parties. Boris isn't one of them but you really can't compare him with someone like Rory Stewart or Jess Phillips.

I am planning to retire abroad (soon) as I am sick of people voting for scum.
