Heres mine;

You must love MIL even if she is a bitch toad from hell

You must never say anything negative about anyone on benefits

Admitting to having no friends

Every 3rd person is NC with their family

Having a nanny

I’m sure I have more
@Sparklingbrookmaybe we are both passive aggressive! Can you imagine?! 🤣
I'm not. I just think Smile is never really used in the way intended, but Confused is.

Bracketcomma · 29/01/2022 21:13

@Sparklingbrook ok!

Bracketcomma · 29/01/2022 21:13

This won’t end well Grin

Oh yes. Most posters seem to hate their neighbours or don't want to communicate with them at all.

If there are a few days of sunshine in the summer people moan and can't wait for snuggling, cosy blankets, hunkering down and hot choc.

LovePoppy · 29/01/2022 21:14

@KKslidoff

A cleaner and leaving your husband are the solution to all of life's problems.
A cleaner would solve a lot of my issues
Bracketcomma · 29/01/2022 21:17

TBF I don’t see 70 as elderly, I guess that’s why mumsnet is educational on that front.
What I dislike is the snide posters with agendas pretending they have a life outside of mumsnet.

Benvolio · 29/01/2022 21:17

I have been on (and admittedly mainly off) mn since before DD 19 was born, when it seemed a small community. Main thing I can see that has changed over the years, along with more participation, is more diversity. It used to be so obviously mainly white middle class uk writers, now a (welcome to me) wider range of voices. Hence the zillions of threads like this.

Furries · 29/01/2022 21:25

Frothing

I’ve never used the word irl and haven’t heard anyone I know use it. But a number of posters decree that many people on here are “frothing”. For me, it’s the most over-used expression on here.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 29/01/2022 21:25

Bracketcomma I too didn’t think 70 was elderly until my DM developed Alzheimer’s in her mind 60’s and now needs help with everything at 70.

mynewbeamer · 29/01/2022 21:28

You must never say anything negative about anyone on benefits being on benefits is feckin' awful for most people. Can't think why you'd want to beat someone when they are down in real life or MN tbh

baroqueandblue · 29/01/2022 21:28

I’m from Liverpool and I know many people (including family members) who claim benefits when they’re not entitled

And you just had to preface all that with where you're from, did you?

Bet you buy the Sun too Biscuit

I actually love my neighbours! Smile And I love summer too. HATE winter. Too cold, too dreary and grey, and too little light. It's nice right now that the nights are starting to really draw out.
HelloFrostyMorning · 29/01/2022 21:31

@ilovesooty Another thing is, you can snuggle down with a hot chocolate in summer too. Smile

HelloFrostyMorning · 29/01/2022 21:32

@ChickenStripper

You make owl noises at people to stop them talking
SOMEONE had to say it. Grin

"Grim" and "vile" are surely top of that list.
maddiemookins16mum · 29/01/2022 21:35

If you meet a new partner with kids or you have kids and meet someone new - you must/they must not get to know those kids/help them/pick them up from school (speak to them) etc etc for at least 3 years. Now I’m not suggesting people should introduce new partners to their wains within 48 hours of getting together, but in the real world there’d be some interaction within the first 6 months or so. Not on MN.

The poster isn't talking about people who genuinely need benefits though are they.

I’d never buy The Sun. But just because you’re proud of where you come from doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be honest about your home town’s negative elements.

You were dating so soon!!! Gosh you aren't allowed to date again until your kids at least have their own mortgage!!
mjf981 · 29/01/2022 21:41

Probably repeats as I haven't read the thread but..

Not answering the door when people knock.

Paying for all your friends meals when you organize a birthday meal out for yourself.

LTB for the tiniest little slight, without trying to work things out first.

HelloFrostyMorning · 29/01/2022 21:42

I use grim and vile irl. Blush

Larabelle6 · 29/01/2022 21:43

Been on MN almost 3 years and I’ve never seen a thread like this! Great entertainment for a Saturday night in with poorly children.

My favourites are newborn babies can’t just be newborns. Every sound and movement needs to be analysed and cmpa is suggested in almost every single post.

And - death grip - is it actually a thing??!!

HelloFrostyMorning · 29/01/2022 21:44

@DrSbaitso

I can never see a line on pregnancy tests, but there are always a load of people insisting it's clear as day.

Oooooh, that is another one that does my head in! The 'am I pregnant' threads. 19 times out of 20 it's a bloody negative test, Yet 9 out of 10 posters say 'I see a second line!' There's not a second line there, and yet they all squeal how they can see it. 'Congratulations OP, you're gonna be a mommy! Woo hoo!' Hmm

The Emporers New Clothes, that's what it is.
