Heres mine;

You must love MIL even if she is a bitch toad from hell

You must never say anything negative about anyone on benefits

Admitting to having no friends

Every 3rd person is NC with their family

Having a nanny

I’m sure I have more

@Sparklingbrook

You could always add something of your own to the thread...

I probably will but need to read it all as I don't want to repeat stuff.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 29/01/2022 20:55

@NichyNoo

I find the MN obsession with not being able to say anything negative about people claiming benefits infuriating. I’m from Liverpool and I know many people (including family members) who claim benefits when they’re not entitled - claiming to be single when living with a partner, claiming for free school meals when they’re not entitled, lots of cash in hand work so they can claim they have a tiny income. And yes, they have flat screen tvs, multiple holidays abroad and a top end car. But on MN we have to pretend that doesn’t happen and is an urban myth Hmm
I think it's more the assumption that it's everyone. I lived on a council estate most of my life. Not receiving benefits myself (do receive PIP now) and know of people that exist that do play the benefit system.

Good plan.

@HelloFrostyMorning I cannot wait for your entertaining, witty response to the op!

ChickenStripper · 29/01/2022 20:58

Everyone has to "unravel" or "unpick" a relationship .

blyn72 · 29/01/2022 20:59

Anyone who appears not to like you is a 'narcissist'.

marqueses · 29/01/2022 20:59

@TellySavalashairbrush

That all husbands/partners are amazing cooks. Mine could burn hot water!
Men being able to cook isn't an MN thing it"s perfectly normal. Your husband is the outlier, cooking isn't rocket science, are you sure he isn't just pretending to be an incompetent to get you to do all the work Smile
Sparklingbrook · 29/01/2022 21:00

Nobody must call the PM 'Boris' as we are not his mate (or something) Even though everyone in RL calls Boris, Boris.

Bracketcomma · 29/01/2022 21:01

If you earn six figures then you are lying, if you post the confused face with faux concern then you are are a trolling trollster. If you are on FB groups and run to the bat signal, you are very, very sad.

Sparklingbrook · 29/01/2022 21:02

This emoji Smile is not as innocent as it seems. More often than not it's not meant in a smiley way at all...

ChickenStripper · 29/01/2022 21:02

You find an endless supply of cashmere jumpers in charity shops.

Bracketcomma · 29/01/2022 21:04

The confused face is passive aggressive on here.

I don't.

Apparently his family call him Alex.

MrsGHarrison87 · 29/01/2022 21:06

Naked men in women's changing rooms.

Sparklingbrook · 29/01/2022 21:06

I'm not sure I agree with that, I think it's this Smile that's passive aggressive. Confused usually does mean 'confused'.

Only on MN a poster always comes along on a thread to state that the same type of thread is constantly coming up at least once a month then adding a massive eye roll just to show they are a long-time-well-established-senior-qualified-every-thread-reading mumsnetter who is utterly bored of reading the same old thread all the time, whilst reading every post added on said new thread just to comment ‘I have nothing new to add’.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 29/01/2022 21:07

Having a third child will ruin your life.

Sparklingbrook · 29/01/2022 21:07

I don't know his family but everyone I know in RL calls him Boris, including myself. It's only on here that I've ever know anyone to get all bothered over it.

Bracketcomma · 29/01/2022 21:08

@Sparklingbrookyou wouldn’t believe the posters who misuse this. Lots of them are just troublemakers.

Exactly, absolute bores.

Asking that when the you can hear the next door neighbours having an argument should you drop a note through their door or call the police.

The Confused emoji? I've not noticed that TBH. I don't see how that face could mean 'passive aggressive' though.

Bracketcomma · 29/01/2022 21:10

@Sparklingbrookmaybe we are both passive aggressive! Can you imagine?! 🤣

HelloFrostyMorning · 29/01/2022 21:11

@Player20868

Everybody earns AT LEAST £100K before bonuses even if they didn't inherit at least 3 houses or have a wealthy spouse/set of parents/inlaws etc to bail them out every five minutes.

Also, these amazing £100K jobs are there for the plucking even if you possess no qualifications, are unable to spell (though to be fair the lack of an edit option might be at least a partial reason there), left school at the age of 15, and live in an employment blackspot.

Oh, and anyone who doesn't earn that amount of money or has the temerity to be unemployed and need a bit of help is obviously just stupid/unambitious and should just move to where the jobs are or set themselves up as a £100K a year cleaner or healthcare assistant...

This pisses me off too.

Also, what bugs me, is the amount of posters on here who claim they and everyone in their social circle started having babies in their mid 40s, and the younger you are when you have them, the lower down the classes you are.

The line 'I am 44 and fitter and healthier than women I know 15 years younger than me' is always trotted out as a reason to have babies between 44 and 50. With no thought to the risks involved, and the fact the child will still be at primary school when she is in her mid 50s, and still a teen when she is in her 60s. In her mid 40s, a woman is CLUELESS about how knackered and weary she will feel in her mid 50s, and how the menopause will probably affect her. It's incredibly selfish having a baby past 44/45, as she has no thought whatsover for the child.

Also makes me laugh when people get super offended when you suggest someone of 70 is 'elderly.' They say 'what? 70 is YOUNG! I have an aunt who is 70, and she runs 3 marathons a week, dates men half her age, and runs 3 businesses single-handedly.

Oh and the idea that a woman can just leave her husband at 58, and retrain for a new career, and get a new bunch of friends, and a fabulous new career. Because DOZENS of women THEY know have done this. Millions of women of nearly 60 start a new life every year, after leaving their husband, and go on to live illustrious lives full of wonder, dreams come true, hot young men lusting after her, and a £125K salary from the new job she trained for.
