Fucksakes.

Is it really so hard for diehard supporters of the inveterate liar that is BJ to understand that the very people who make the rules and empower the police to fine anyone who does not comply with their rules should at the very least comply with their own rules?

BJ writing a letter to a 7-yr-old girl saying she's doing the right thing by not celebrating her birthday (and smarmily posting the letter on Twitter with the hashtag #belikeJosephine), then celebrating his birthday, is cynical, dishonest and mendacious.

BJ had drinks in the garden at 10 Downing Street with several people on the same day his police force fined a man £100 (+ £134 in costs & fees) for being in the street with one other person.

He has repeatedly lied about "guidelines being followed," including in front of Parliament, when he in fact rode roughshod over the guidelines he imposed upon the UK population. He lies consistently in Parliament about the UK's economic recovery, about lowering taxes, about vaccine rates...

If you can be ambushed by a birthday cake, you really, really shouldn't be in charge of the UK while Putin is threatening military action in Ukraine. Especially if your pick for Foreign Secretary is Liz Truss.

Peregrina · 26/01/2022 21:30

Bit of a freudian slip there maybe?!

Exactly my thought. A party led by a Lawyer not a Liar.

Not quite a three word soundbite, but almost.

Probably the best argument I've heard thus far 😆

jgw1 · 26/01/2022 21:32

@Roussette

Do we know there was a packet of peanuts with Starmer's one bottle of beer (with one on the windowsill)?

Because I have a lovely pic of the hot and cold buffet at CCHQ with 20 plus people, party hats, drinks and all of that, if anyone wants to see it?

There were nuts?

The squirrels will be all over it.

Peregrina · 26/01/2022 21:35

But some folk seem to have one set of rulez for the Tories and other for Labour.

That is indeed so. Imagine if anyone in Labour had done even a hundredth of the things that Johnson and Cronies had done you would be screaming about it. Other parties than the Tories are always held to a much higher standard.

truthfullylying · 26/01/2022 21:40

@JaniieJones

'Some people seem to have one set of rules for the Prime Minister and another for millions of children.'

You can't compare workplaces to socialising at home, different rules applied.

So let's compare workplaces. Why can Starner drink beer and have nibbles and Johnson can't? It's either wrong on both accounts or right on both accounts.

Oh what a load of old bollocks.

Report Starmer to the police and they will investigate if necessary. The Met are investigating eight parties. Not eight occasions where Johnson had a beer at a work meeting, but eight social events aka parties.

Starmer is a lawyer, he was very experienced. He knows the rules and would have been cautious to stay within them. He was at a work meeting discussing work matters. The fact he drank a beer at said by election meeting doesn't change the legal status of what he was doing. Many of us drank beer during lockdowns, that is not the issue.

There were parties at Downing Street.

It is totally different and everyone bloody knows it. Johnson is a lying arse and everyone bloody knows that too.

FatFredsFriedEgg · 26/01/2022 21:41

@JaniieJones

'I am glad that we are in agreement that the Prime Minister was socialising in his work place. The silliness about how he was working whilst eating cake and drinking wine had got a bit dull.'

Hmm, except that wasn't what I said. I said you can't compare workplaces to home socialising (which wasn't allowed) and if you think Starmer & Co can have nibbles at work I've no idea why you think Johnson can't. The answer seems to be yeah but.

It's the purpose of the 'gathering' that's important.

Eating, at the place you're working and with co-workers, while working and staying away from home to carry out something 'reasonably necessary for work purposes' was permitted in May 2021.

A birthday party can never be 'reasonably necessary for work purposes' unless you work for the company providing the clowns and balloons. Maybe that's a possible line of defence for them? They provided the clown after all.

FatFredsFriedEgg · 26/01/2022 21:43

Report Starmer to the police and they will investigate if necessary.

I'd refer myself to the police if I was him.

Of all people I'd expect a former Director of Public Prosecutions to understand the law that was in place at the time.

truthfullylying · 26/01/2022 21:44

Yes exactly, the reason for the gathering.

You could sit and drink tea in a work meeting, you could not sit and drink tea with work friends simply for a chat. You could drink a beer at a work meeting, you could not meet colleagues for a beer and a chat.

You could not gather for a birthday celebration with people who were not in your household e.g. your decorator. You simply could not.

True. If he can't prevent his own party ambushing him with cake.

How does he prevent Putin ambushing Ukraine?

He's just sheer incompetence with a title

DueyCheatemAndHow · 26/01/2022 21:57

I speak as a tory voter (well, up until the last election).

What does this man have to do for people to say 'OK, he's broken the rules'? Literally what?

I have literally have no idea after today.

I'm now only on here to see what utter nonsense the Johnson apolgists are spouting. They are like that one weird person you desperately want to stop following on Facebook but you can't as the level of entertainment they provide is priceless. Keep it coming!

Roussette · 26/01/2022 22:29

The gobsmacking fact of the day is...when Starmer had a bottle of beer, there was also a bottle of beer on the windowsill
Yep.
You heard that right Shock

It’s literally only in retaliation to thread after thread of BJ haterz though. No one is actually starting threads to “keep Boris in” or “believe Boris” are they. MN is a bit like trying to talk to Jehovah Witnesses sometimes. But it’s always fun trying to point out where the flaws are.
the80sweregreat · 27/01/2022 05:51

The daily Mail comments page this morning are shocking , so many negative comments about Boris Johnson when normally they are fairly supportive, more so than they are today anyway
The headline is that he is ' sorry ' he was lax with the rules.
The report won't be seen for a while it seems . I wished this wasn't the case as it's all so damaging for everyone and the country too when we need a strong leader to be in charge.

Flowertailbird · 27/01/2022 06:31

Yes I get that. Still great entertainment though.

the80sweregreat · 27/01/2022 06:41

It's always men letting us down isn't it ?
I read the headlines today and it's all about Prince Andrew and his trial , Boris Johnson, Vladimir Putin, other stories of men letting people down , murders and rapists :(
It made me feel quite depressed and although women are capable of evil and wrong doing too of course , it's mostly the men who just seem to be letting us all down at the moment.
I hope they do release this report soon. I think that leaving it all weekend is such a bad idea.

Flowertailbird · 27/01/2022 06:59

Actually missing Theresa May and her horrifying tales of running though a farmer's field of wheat. She was off the scale naughty. I know Johnson has had to try hard to better those dizzy heights of bad behaviour but someone needs to tell him he's done it.

Roussette · 27/01/2022 07:13

I know!
We're on a whole other level now. His personal life is a nightmare, sleazy grifting for wallpaper money, freebie holidays from cronies in the HoL, partying
He has no moral compass
Oh, but he's such a laugh

Well... I hope the country has learnt from this foray into a character for PM.

itsgettingweird · 27/01/2022 07:19

He's only sorry because he got caught.

Got caught and then tried to lie his way out of it - which maybe for the first time in his life hasn't worked.

He probably is genuinely sorry in his own way. I still doubt he'll become a truthful e member of society to be proud of having learnt his lesson though 🤷‍♀️

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 27/01/2022 07:49

It's always men letting us down isn't it ?

I think. Margaret Thatcher and Teresa May were women?

the80sweregreat · 27/01/2022 08:10

I did mean about the news with my 'men ' comments and made the point that woman are capable of wrong doings as well.
Theresa May wasn't a liar and she didn't mislead government, she was only let go because of Brexit , instigated initially by a man !
It's just that today every person in the news with scandals, or threatening war , are men.
Just an observation on the headlines today as Boris Johnson and Prince Andrew are both top headlines.

OhWhyNot · 27/01/2022 08:21

I don’t think he is sorry at all

He is sorry for himself being under pressure step down

If the man felt shame he would have addressed his actions of the past and apologised before considering to run for PM. He never has he just moves on

Peregrina · 27/01/2022 08:21

So far the only person to have resigned over 'partygate' is a woman.
