So if Boris was at his birthday bash, his wife, interior designer and Rishi Sunak were all there then is George Eustice saying there were fewer than 6 people who work in No 10 there?

If the "closer to 10" people had been working together all day then
How come we have seen video of BJ visiting a school, he wasn't even in No 10 all day.
Why was Carrie Johnson working all day with staff at No 10, she doesn't have a job there?
Why was the interior designer working all day with staff at No 10, she doesn't have a job there?
How was Rishi Sunak just passing through if he was working there all day?

Doesn't add up for me but maybe you can explain it.

Sue? That you?

Brilliant questioning 👏👏

One beer rather pales into insignificance

Two beers - one bottle on the windowsill.

itsgettingweird · 26/01/2022 20:53

@Clavinova

An MP has just talked about the party and said "communal singing was banned"

Well, I hope those teachers who encouraged the children to sing 'happy birthday' to the PM on his birthday are disciplined.

Why? It was outside.

Lots of choirs and bands around here met outside to practice when limits and rules allowed. It was still banned inside.

I never thought I'd learn to play the ukulele in a field. But it's amazing what a pandemic will encourage you to do 🤣

OMG shock horror

Did the two bottles have their own little fridge and were they purchased in a mini suitcase?

SueSaid · 26/01/2022 20:55

That we know of!! Surely this beer and social mingling gives us a snapshot of the contempt for the rules at the very heart of the Labour government. Tut tut.

He was drinking beer through a straw?

Call the police.

I do find it amazing how you finish work at 9pm each evening.

Bit of a freudian slip there maybe?!

I have a can of Pepsi on my coffee table.

There another on my windowsill.

I'm not the only person here.

How do you know that one's mine?!

And we all know he actually was at work anyway. Plus it wasn't LD1. Plus he's not the PM!

Plus he's never denied it or tried to pretend it wasn't actually what it was!

Even you must be bored of using the same 3 links to Labour your point?

At least every link to Tory parties is a new one and another party WinkGrin

Ah it's not about the beer. It wasn't about the birthday cake either you see. Its the principle, it is what it represents, complete contempt for the rules which they all voted for.

I'm more reasonable really. I can see how one beer on a break at work is fine as is eating cake. But some folk seem to have one set of rulez for the Tories and other for Labour.

Alexander Stafford, Tory MP for Rother Valley, said there should be no 'hypocrisy' and that 'all sides need to be investigated'.

He told MPs: 'Those in glass houses should not throw beer bottles.'

Which just demonstrates how thick the average Tory MP is.

Why on earth would the Metropolitan Police investigate something trivial that's alleged to have occurred in Durham?

Some people seem to have one set of rules for the Prime Minister and another for millions of children.

I've checked with Raab and Durham is a suburb of London.

SueSaid · 26/01/2022 21:08

'Some people seem to have one set of rules for the Prime Minister and another for millions of children.'

You can't compare workplaces to socialising at home, different rules applied.

So let's compare workplaces. Why can Starner drink beer and have nibbles and Johnson can't? It's either wrong on both accounts or right on both accounts.

Because they were all working in that office all day during the election campaign.

Boris was working out of the office. Retuned to the office and had a gathering with people who don't even live at that address and people who don't even work in the office.

For all the nit picking you do over the facts I'm surprised you missed those clear differences?

I am glad that we are in agreement that the Prime Minister was socialising in his work place. The silliness about how he was working whilst eating cake and drinking wine had got a bit dull.

Hmm, except that wasn't what I said. I said you can't compare workplaces to home socialising (which wasn't allowed) and if you think Starmer & Co can have nibbles at work I've no idea why you think Johnson can't. The answer seems to be yeah but.

I think I missed the Downing Street briefing where it said that if children wanted a birthday party they were to go into school that day and someone would ambush them with cake. Do you happen to know which day it was so I can watch it back?

We weren't allowed shared nibbles at work, we weren't allowed to use our staff room or to eat together or mix, staff meetings were on teams. In fact we were prevented from when going to work at all at that point but on looser restrictions this was the case

Roussette · 26/01/2022 21:24

Do we know there was a packet of peanuts with Starmer's one bottle of beer (with one on the windowsill)?

Because I have a lovely pic of the hot and cold buffet at CCHQ with 20 plus people, party hats, drinks and all of that, if anyone wants to see it?
