Here's mine:

Otrivine nasal spray is an absolute saviour! I only discovered it last year and I've had some absolutely horrendous colds made better by using this stuff. It completely clears your nose within minutes. I went from not being able to breathe through my nose at all, to being able to sleep through the night with my airways clear. Amazing.

Would love to some other good medicine cabinet tip offs!

Buttercup syrup, sorts any kind of cough or tickly throat. Savlon heals everything really quickly and is also great for chapped lips.

girafferaffle · 23/01/2022 20:11

Liquid bandage. Great for clumsy people with clotting problems 😂

Gladioli23 · 23/01/2022 20:11

This sounds fabulous and I will definitely be going out to get some.

Mine are gaviscone/own brand equivalent (big fan of pharmacy first for cheap online orders but have to get together with other family members to make free shipping worthwhile). It's so effective, and often if one is feeling a bit sick, actually one has acid indigestion.

I'm also a fan of simethicone/"wind-eze" which is a horrendous name - it does what it says on the tin though.

I suffer from IBS so my medicine cabinet could rival a small pharmacy...

Just thought of another: Feminax tablets for period pain. Way better than plain paracetamol. Got me through some very awful teenage heavy periods - luckily nowhere near as bad now in my 30s!

Sudocrem, stops you getting a sore arse if you get the runs.

Very handy after a phaal/vindaloo at The Raj, I can imagine!

I see Sudocreme has already been mentioned, so I'll say Difflam throat spray.

When you've got a truly horrendous sore throat, the relief from this is amazing.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 23/01/2022 20:15

Tyrozets (if you can find them - suspect they are discontinued). The only thing that has ever helped a sore throat. They are chalky little discs and they numb the throat and have an antibiotic in them too.

amazing

Night nurse

wellerhugs5 · 23/01/2022 20:16

Vicks Vaporub - chest, back and soles of your feet (with socks) and it's the best thing for coughs. Also, Covonia - think it's the tickly cough one, you can use for younger kids (check the bottle) and it beats (hands down) the other kids ones.

Lastly, milk of magnesia.

ditalini · 23/01/2022 20:17

Oh, and Vicks - it's our "magic" cream for when ds has a snuffy nose. Rubbed on back and front for a decent night's sleep (for all of us).

Mum2jenny · 23/01/2022 20:17

Chloramphenicol eye ointment for sticky eyes.

And Acyclovir for cold sores.

Fab. I'm going to try some Difflam. I get sore throats regularly!

Always keep a pack of ovex in for DC prone to catching worms. Vaseline and olbas oil are other staples.

shouldistop · 23/01/2022 20:21

Yellow metanium cream for nappy rash

LuckyAmy1986 · 23/01/2022 20:21

Boots nasal stick inhaler. Work great for stuffed noses!

ofwarren · 23/01/2022 20:22

I much prefer Ultra Chlorasceptic to Difflam. It contains benzocaine so it numbs your throat.

TheSpottedZebra · 23/01/2022 20:23

Aloe Vera gel for mild burns. Keep it in the fridge.
Chloraseptic spray for sore throats.

TheSpottedZebra · 23/01/2022 20:24

Oh cross post!

2ndMrsdeWinter · 23/01/2022 20:24

I second ovex. Also always keep Hedrin in the cupboard. I am a woman of substance but parasites make me lose my sh*t.

BirdyBee · 23/01/2022 20:25

Imodium instants and calpol

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/01/2022 20:26

I’m late to the party, but germalene. Is amazing stuff. How have I survived so long without this.

It numbs as well, so perfect for bumps and bruises on children.

TheVolturi · 23/01/2022 20:27

Ibuprofen, for when paracetamol can't help. Tea tree oil, for spots, anything fungussy, home made lice repellent and much more. Travel pills for the kids. Liquid piriton, for any itchy rashes but also if kids have a terrible cold/cough and can't sleep it helps with both. Arnica cream, for any bumps, tell the kids it's magic cream and it seems to stop swelling and bruising, I have always used it for sprains myself.

Marv1nGay3 · 23/01/2022 20:29

Promethazine for anxiety/ sleep.
