The Treasurer of the 1922 Committee, Sir Geoffrey Clifton Brown has said he believes Ghani.

ClaudineClare · 23/01/2022 18:01

There is only so much effort I can be bothered to put in now when replying to Flo, janiie.

Some of your posts have already been pulled

One of my posts, because I told the poster what I thought of him/her when I probably should instead have made a formal complaint.

Three of your posts on this thread, have been pulled, two on the previous one.

jgw1 · 23/01/2022 18:09

@LolaLouLou

Because raiding a complaint against one of your bosses is bloody hard under normal circumstances.

Raising it against the people who hold your political career in their hands must feel almost impossible. I believe her.

And Fabricant has helpfully demonstrated the casual Islamophobia that she is up against.
ClaudineClare · 23/01/2022 18:30

Yes, you are right Blossomtoes.

I believe Ghani too. The current crisis has given her an opportunity to give her story the oxygen it deserves, who can blame her for taking it.

@florianus I don’t think it’s boring to question the motivation of someone who proclaims Johnson to be ‘odious’ but then spends their whole weekend posting in support of him & his Government, countering on this thread each of his reported misdeeds. I’d say that’s quite a curious thing to do.

Anyway back to the business at hand, that of Johnson bringing the Government into disrepute and the Government spending all their time countering claims and furiously trying to make new headlines to try & take the publics attention away from the scalding water Johnson is in: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/jan/23/observer-view-on-dirty-tactics-to-bolster-boris-johnson

Notonthestairs · 23/01/2022 19:09

A week really is a long time in politics Grin

22itsallnew · 23/01/2022 19:12

@GreenLunchBox that’s a brilliant summary & reminder of the absolutely ridiculous catalogue of events. What will next week expose!?

Well I'm just on this thread to say thank you for The Week in Tory.

That's the best précis I've seen of the Johnson Jollies (this week's edition).

It’s excellent. How much longer can this farce continue?

@ClaudineClare

FloridanusGrin is that a typo or deliberate?
Obviously I didn't intend to call her a red-faced arsehole.

What have I missed? Is this a name change fail?

Just did an AS and realised it was sarcasm. Sorry @FatFredsFriedEgg...it's hard to tell these days! Grin

@Trilley

It was too ludicrous to deserve a reply, Peregrina. Do you really imagine the Prime Minister sits there telling the Leader of the House what to do, telling the Chancellor of the Exchequer how to run the civil service, dictating to Liz Truss what she should say to Putin, and so o? - inbetween running the civil service, representing UK on the world stage, running cabinet meetings, touring schools and hospitals around the country etc etc

This notion that the prime minister is some sort of superstar who does everything is simply nonsense

Oh, stop it, this is just so tedious now. You are, yet again, totally misrepresenting what I and others are saying. What is true nonsense is the notion you are trying to put forward that the Prime Minister carries no responsibility for or control over what his ministers do, what legislation is put before Parliament, what the cabinet does, what the civil service does, what his PPS does, what the whips he appoints does, or, really, anything. No-one accepts what you say because it is just so ludicrous.

Can the Prime Minister do everything?

Consequently, as no Prime Minster can do everything, policy intervention tends to be on the areas which the Prime Minister regards as strategically important. However, whilst Prime Ministers are constrained by time and policy capacity, they can also be constrained by their particular relationships with key ministers

Is that sarcasm?

As it happens I was taught Latin by Mr Fisher and Mr Griffin, the authors of the 'Caecilius est in horto' Latin course. Back then (Monty Python days) we thought 'Floridanus' was an hilarious faux misunderstanding of 'Florianus' (Roman Emperor Florian).

I automatically read 'Florianus' as 'Floridanus'.

'Red-faced arsehole' or 'face like a slapped arse' in translations were a guaranteed one hour detention though.

ruabon23 · 23/01/2022 21:39

I am not enjoying his downfall. I am visiting France in the summer and when ever I have gone, have had people questioning why the UK ever ended up with someone who is an international embarrassment. The sooner he is gone the better.
