So if the Tories won't define misogyny as a hate crime why would women want them in government?

Campervan69 · 20/01/2022 22:02

My labour MP is onside and absolutely lovely. I've been and had a couple of ground preparing meetings. Also a v safe labour seat so I will vote for them rather than the party.

TheAnswerIsDontThinkAboutIt · 20/01/2022 22:02

@Theeyeballsinthesky

As far as I’m concerned, Labour along with Lib Dem SNP Green Plaid Cymru etc are all going along with something that is patently untrue vis men can become women by saying that they are one

Now there is no way they actually really believe that. There is no way they believe any one can change sex. They also do know that biological women are at greater physical risk of attack from men, are the only sex that gets pregnant, have been discriminated against for centuries simply for being women. They know all that - or they’re catastrophically stupid

So either they’re catastrophically stupid or worse they are prepared to go along with something they know is untrue and will harm women because they think it’s a vote winner or that women don’t matter

And that makes me wonder who or what else they’d be prepared to throw under the bus so why on earth would I vote for them

Yeah, this nails it for me. I've only ever voted Labour, apart from my very first vote, which was Lib Dem (I was young and knew nothing but thought they were the right-on choice Hmm )

Not a chance in hell I'd vote for them while they're riddled with ID politics nonsense.

Starmer is not a stupid man, but for whatever reason, he's all tied up in this nonsense (and I use that word - for a second time - advisedly). Look at what he said. Saying that only women have a cervix is "something that shouldn't be said." Shouldn't be said . A simple fact, a meaningful fact, is something that shouldn't be said . I find that really chilling.

So no, they can get stuffed, frankly.

Me

@user1471504747

But you must understand you’re probably in a lucky position to be able to be a single issue voter.

I can’t afford to be because to me that will ensure the tories stay in. I can’t afford to let that happen to rape victims, victim of DV, disabled people, children living in poverty etc etc

The list goes on and on and on

You might, and there’s no guarantee on that, stop self ID in its tracks but at what cost? Losing the NHS? Disabled people starving to death? Women being forced to stay in abusive marriages? More and more food shelters opening?

Sorry but at the moment there is not a single party standing solidly 100% for women’s rights, but some of the parties have a far more negative impact on women’s lives as a whole.

I won't vote for any of them. None of them will protect women or the vulnerable.

You're absolutely mistaken if you don't think these policies affect all vulnerable people. Ethnic minorities who won't have access to services, disabled people who don't understand the revised confounding language, vulnerable people who have less protection against predators, women in prison.

The only people this doesn't affect is able bodied men.

TicTacHoh · 20/01/2022 22:05

@HermioneWeasley

Me - once these rights are gone we’ll never get them back
This, 100%. Also could never vote Labour now
Plasmodesmata · 20/01/2022 22:05

Puts hand up.
Although - in very safe Tory seat so doesn't really matter either way.

Sickoffamilydrama · 20/01/2022 22:05

It is like we are not even real to them
Nailed it one and we aren't real then the affect of poverty on women doesn't exist cause women don't really exist.
It's also allowing themselves to be pulled into this what a waste of time and resources.
Finally it's the stubborn not listening to voters time and time again they've dismissed GC women as bigots, that doesn't seem to me as a party I want in power.

littlebilliie · 20/01/2022 22:07

Never

Quincythequince · 20/01/2022 22:07

✋🏻
I can’t vote for a party that won’t even agree with the definition of what I am, let along all the other incalculable losses that go with that.

sst1234 · 20/01/2022 22:08

No way. Labour are unelectable. They deserve to be banished to obscurity. A bunch of misogynists.

Thoosa · 20/01/2022 22:09

I left the party due to it, I don’t want to want to vote for them until they knock it on the head, but I’m not sure what I’ll do
In a crunch.

ilovesooty · 20/01/2022 22:10

@sst1234

No way. Labour are unelectable. They deserve to be banished to obscurity. A bunch of misogynists.
Unlike the Conservative Party who've needed to be reminded by the Lords that misogyny is a hate crime?
FortunaMajor · 20/01/2022 22:12

I will not vote Labour with the current policies on Self ID.

user1471453601 · 20/01/2022 22:13

I've said this before, but I'll repeat it.

If you are interested in one issue, and one issue only, join a pressure group.

If you support most of what one party stands for, vote for them.

And yes, I know I've joined a thread where there is a great likelihood I'll get slaughtered. What I say is still true.

NoLongerTroels · 20/01/2022 22:14

Me, put me right off Labour.

awesomekilick · 20/01/2022 22:14

Hand raised

Chrysanthemum5 · 20/01/2022 22:15

Me - lifelong Labour voter can't bring myself to vote for such a useless excuse for an opposition

WhoKnew19 · 20/01/2022 22:15

Me. Lifelong Labour voter. No idea what I will do at the next election.

ChurchlightJane · 20/01/2022 22:16

Ex Labour party member. Now politically homeless.

ISpyCobraKai · 20/01/2022 22:17

Absolutely not.

FamilyStrifeIsHard2Bear · 20/01/2022 22:18

🤚

Bancha · 20/01/2022 22:18

I’ve always voted labour, but there is no one I can vote for now.

tootyfruitypickle · 20/01/2022 22:19

👋

Rainbowshit · 20/01/2022 22:19

I'm pretty much a single issue voter now. No to self ID.
