I wouldn't vote Labour anyway but if I did that would stop me most definitely. They don't seem to care though

A party that knows what a woman is, and protects women's safe spaces. Is that really too much to ask?

LethargicActress · 20/01/2022 22:21

👋🏼 Can’t vote Lib Dem for the same reason unfortunately.

It’s a very good point that it’s not good to vote on a single issue, but this is a single issue that is too big for me to put aside.

Anyone know what the woman's equality party think about this subject?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/01/2022 22:27

Me. Left the labour party over this. Spoilt my last ballot paper.

Exactly this.

@user1471453601

I've said this before, but I'll repeat it.

If you are interested in one issue, and one issue only, join a pressure group.

If you support most of what one party stands for, vote for them.

And yes, I know I've joined a thread where there is a great likelihood I'll get slaughtered. What I say is still true.

This is impacts so many areas of life that it is not a single issue, far from it.
motherofthelittlescreamingone · 20/01/2022 22:28

Sadly the Wep is the trans women's equality party. Nothing is to be exclusively for natal women according to them.

Politically homeless - if someone in my constituency was standing for the SDP I would probably vote for them, but will spoil my ballot

YouWereGr8InLittleMenstruators · 20/01/2022 22:28

But don't just abstain if that's what you're doing, let them know why. When I left, I made it really clear why, and during each subsequent "So can you tell us why you cancelled your membership?"-call, I patiently explained myself and asked the caller to make a note of it and to paraphrase back to me what I had said. They all (4 canvassers in total) had a really good grasp of the issue and even sounded a teensy bit apologetic.

Roaringlogfire · 20/01/2022 22:29

Will not vote for them either for same reason.

HollowTalk · 20/01/2022 22:29

I just can't respect a party who'd sell off women's safety and rights. I've voted labour for decades and have no idea what to do now.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 20/01/2022 22:29

Never

@motherofthelittlescreamingone I was just reading that . FFS

"Notonthestairs

I am a GC feminist. But I am also a carer. I have a teenage disabled daughter."

So if your daughter needs carers in the future it is cool that she won't have the option for refusing male carers if they identified as a woman?

I have never been a single issue voter before now. But, as a human being first and then as a woman - an adult human female - this issue is fundamental. Ignore it and everything about womankind can and will be ignored.
Dinosaurwoman · 20/01/2022 22:33

Well I can’t vote Tory because my MP Crispin Blunt is a fan of stonewall.
So the lesser of two evils will probably be the Lib Dems or labour , especially if they make a pact not to split each other’s votes.

BridasShieldWall · 20/01/2022 22:33

🖖🏼

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 20/01/2022 22:34

It isn't just self ID for trans it is the whole identity politics fiasco. Labour have groups for those who identity as being neuro diverse, for those who identify as black
Labour can FO. My DC don't identity as asd. They have asd
It moves resources from those who actually need them to a bunch of largely middle class white males. It is the most individualistic policy ever

Sn0tnose · 20/01/2022 22:36

@Notonthestairs

So where does this leave disabled women?

Or carers?

Or women living in poverty?

I’ve lived in poverty under the Tories and under Labour. I’ve been a carer under the Tories and under Labour and two people very close to me have been disabled under both parties. Neither party gives a shit about any of these women.

So I’ll be fucked if I’m going to give my vote to a party who will make the lives of vulnerable women even harder than it already is by taking away the few rights they have left.

I can’t bring myself to vote Tory either, so I’m politically homeless.

mummykel16 · 20/01/2022 22:36

Labour are finished for a myriad of reasons, this is one of the main two.
Women are now in a worse position than half a century ago. Politically speaking and safety wise.

SiobhanSharpe · 20/01/2022 22:36

I agree that the SDP looks good on women's rights. I hope they will be able to field more candidates in future elections.
