DH set up play date with random man in park

He obviously had a kid with him but he's took his number for the playdate. DH has never seen him and our DC does not know the child other than playing in the park today.

I can't work out if I'm being overprotective.

YABU - This is fine
YANBU - This is weird

I've made friends via antenatal classes, apps, activities, etc.

The idea of 'making a new friend via an app' is much more worrying to me. I'm a great believer in body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, etc, and would be very, very, very cautious of arranging to meet someone that had only contacted me on-line.

Shows how we are all different.

I've just not met anyone in a park before and just had found it odd that someone would

I can't remember every arranging to meet up again with anyone I met randomly in a park, either but I consider it a lot safer than meeting someone from an app.

I'm obviously wrong though and happy to accept that

Fair play to you. It is becoming increasingly unusual for people to say that on AIBU? Smile

A stranger is a friend you do not know...so says the ancient song.

I wouldn't leave a child, not even for a moment, with someone unless I'd known them very well indeed for many many years.

I take it you have a young child? Not really practical once they get to school age.

You're home schooling them then?
