To feel that these lines are too severe for my age

I am sorry in advance if this offends anyone, I hope not

I'm 30, 31 in a couple of months and I'm pretty unhappy with the lines around my eyes and dark circles.

I've never smoked, don't drink at all, use retinol, moisturise every day, wear sunscreen SPF 50 etc yet I feel that they're quite bad lines for somebody of my age.

I've booked an appointment for Botox this weekend

Do eat too much sugar and wonder if this could be affecting it.

Any honest feedback is appreciated

Ridiculous. There's nothing wrong with your eyes. The only thing I'd recommend is a moisturising eye cream, or possibly one for reactive skin (LRP). Keep the retinol away from the eye area.

ChatterMonkey · 13/01/2022 19:01

I cant see any issue or aging in that photo, are you smiling when the photo was taken?

Im a similar age, and i think you have ever so slightly more defined lines, but i have way darker circles under eyes.

I dont really believe that lotions and potions really make much difference at all, i think genetics, luck and lifestyle is what it comes down to.

If you want botox, tthen get botox, but i wouldnt say you 'needed' it.

gobbledygoook · 13/01/2022 19:02

I don't think they look too bad OP, but I'm also really picky with my skin so I totally understand 😂 I also get botox - makes me feel ten times better tbh.

I do all the same things as you with skincare (and gua sha / facial massage!) however I'm naturally annoyingly smiley, and have round cheeks - so when I'm spending my day smiling, I end up with lines there.

Do what makes you happy!

Donthaveagoodusername · 13/01/2022 19:03

Maybe I am being ridiculous
I was smiling when it was taken, I'm probably being vain, just feel like they're all I can see

Try some retinol cream

Gwenhwyfar · 13/01/2022 19:03

It's normal to have lines around the eyes from late twenties on.
Wait until you have sagging, then you'll complain.

Donthaveagoodusername · 13/01/2022 19:04

I've been using retinol for just under 2 months, but apparently it can take longer to notice even a small difference?

Your eye and the area around it looks fine!!
I wouldn't waste your money on Botox. You'd be better off using it for therapy to build up your confidence Wink

Flowers and Wine for you x

Donthaveagoodusername · 13/01/2022 19:04

I will probably complain about sagging too yes, it's just who I am, I know it's not a good thing

Botox is your answer

whymewhyme · 13/01/2022 19:10

Honestly your eyes look normal to me but i get that you think they are worse, my under eyes are really bad for my age 36 and i wished they looked as good as yours

AnnaSW1 · 13/01/2022 19:15

It's probably just bad luck/genetics.

IncompleteSenten · 13/01/2022 19:17

It looks normal and fine to me.
I bet unless you are that close up you'd barely notice!

Millionairesshortbreadshort · 13/01/2022 19:17

With kindness. Get off social media. It’s toxic. Take less selfies. Enjoy life. That’s my advice.

Lifeisnteasy · 13/01/2022 19:19

Same age as you and mine are like that when I’m not smiling! You have lovely eyes OP. Sack off the Botox & treat yourself to something else.

flippertyop · 13/01/2022 19:24

They look fine - mine were like that and they haven't got any worse tenth years later. People still think I am much younger than I am. I would leave it

Cagedbirdsinging · 13/01/2022 19:25

I think your skin looks fine but you may want to get your blood cholesterol checked . Those little white cysts under your eye can be a sign of raised levels .

WhenIsItTooLate · 13/01/2022 19:25

I’m the same age and mine are much MUCH worse OP Grin both lines and dark circles! Life’s too short to worry about it 🤷‍♀️ you look great to me, enjoy your face - you’ll look back in 10 years and wish you still looked like you do now! Nothing wrong with ageing, it’s part of life.

BasiliskStare · 13/01/2022 19:26

I would count those as smile lines @Donthaveagoodusername Botox I think is personal choice - for me I would not worry a hoot. Maybe less sugar - but a girl I knew (did a beauty course ) said the only thing which will keep your skin better is more water.

MonsterRehab23 · 13/01/2022 19:27

You have lovely eyes! Can’t really see any signs of ageing either. Your smiling so there’s a few lines which are to be expected.

I’m 34 and my under eyes have really aged in the last year or two especially. I hate looking at myself in natural light now. I’m very pale skinned, always use SPF 50, sunglasses etc but hasn’t helped slow down the ageing unfortunately.

To me you look youthful Smile.

Cochabamba · 13/01/2022 19:27

What a sad world we live in where women worry about this kind of ridiculous stuff. Makes me weep

Pearlyqueen21 · 13/01/2022 19:31

The answer is always to drink more water Smile Your skin will feel better for it.

WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps · 13/01/2022 19:31

Excellent advice. You can tell you're smiling in the photo, which will obviously make any fine lines more visible. They look fine and normal.
winter12345 · 13/01/2022 19:32

I think it's just genes and how your face moves really! I'm a similar age and eat tonnes of sugar. I have what I consider to be bad frown lines but my eyes are OK.

WheelieBinPrincess · 13/01/2022 19:33

Botox!

I’m 36, and at the moment I look like old Rose in Titanic because my baby doesn’t let me sleep.

Bloody balls am I getting Botox, ageing is life.
