To feel that these lines are too severe for my age

I am sorry in advance if this offends anyone, I hope not

I'm 30, 31 in a couple of months and I'm pretty unhappy with the lines around my eyes and dark circles.

I've never smoked, don't drink at all, use retinol, moisturise every day, wear sunscreen SPF 50 etc yet I feel that they're quite bad lines for somebody of my age.

I've booked an appointment for Botox this weekend

Do eat too much sugar and wonder if this could be affecting it.

Any honest feedback is appreciated

@Cochabamba

What a sad world we live in where women worry about this kind of ridiculous stuff. Makes me weep
This.
CiderJolly · 13/01/2022 19:43

Wouldn’t it be a bit weird if your skin didn’t wrinkle when smiling? Smile lines are quite nice I think. And your eyes look fine, youthful. Honestly nothing to worry about.

BasiliskStare · 13/01/2022 19:44

I think Botox is a personal decision - but I do think you can tell when some one has had it - I would agree with @Pearlyqueen21 & the friend I had who did a beauty course - just drink lots more water - otherwise you are essentially papering over the cracks ( I do not mean that to sound unkind ) but genes , water ....... I will never have perfect skin - but keeping face out of sun and lots of water makes it as best as it can be. ( for avoidance of doubt I am not a supermodel ) Grin

PlanktonsComputerWife · 13/01/2022 19:48

Don't do botox. People never seem to know where to stop with plastic surgery and we've all seen the unfortunate results.

You look fine, normal.

AgathaAllAlong · 13/01/2022 19:50

Looks normal to me.

Completely agree.
JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 13/01/2022 19:52

Ageing is down to genetics. You may as well go down the offie and crack open a bottle of red as there’s not much you can do. Staying out of the sun will prevent age spots though.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 13/01/2022 19:52

Your eyes look lovely and young to me! Don’t waste your money messing about with yourself is my advice

Tal45 · 13/01/2022 19:53

Beautiful OP please don't feel you have to inject crap into yourself in the name of beauty.

HikingforScenery · 13/01/2022 19:56

I’ve no idea what the kind under my eyes look like.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 13/01/2022 19:58

Botox will dramatically change the lines at the side but not underneath. No decent practioner will inject underneath.

wonderwomen46 · 13/01/2022 19:58

I'm 37 and just recently noticed that im starting to get lines around my eyes, not noticeable unless you looks closely but I was considering a bit of Botox

LocalHobo · 13/01/2022 19:59

I feel slightly heartened that a few of us feel like Cochabamba.

mjf981 · 13/01/2022 20:03

@Millionairesshortbreadshort

With kindness. Get off social media. It’s toxic. Take less selfies. Enjoy life. That’s my advice.
This * 1000. The world would be a far better place if we lived with only one small mirror in the bathroom like 50 yrs ago. All this staring at our own faces all day is damaging. And a bit pathetic.
ErickBroch · 13/01/2022 20:05

botox worsened those lines for me, I'm late 20s.

saltandherbsandnothingnice · 13/01/2022 20:07

Oh my god. I was on the brink of posting very very similar. I'm 30 and feeling down about my eye wrinkles and feel they are more prominent than others my age. Have never seen this kind of post on here before about someone so young. I think you look perfectly normal compared to the 30 year olds i know. I have a deeper wrinkle that circles my eye quite far down, you don't have it. It's getting me down even though i hate that it is.

I think we're just at that age where wrinkles appear.

Please reconsider your botox. Best thing you can do is sleep more (and eat less sugar I believe?!).

I have been exploring this with my therapist because it has lots of other issues (like aging and death), fears, emotions tied into it. Could you explore this? Are there other fears about rejection and aging/death that play into this?

I'm sticking around to see what other women say though - Im shocked at how much this has shook me. And angry cos of the wasted time and energy women put into trying to live up to some impossible standard.

Solidarity OP.

DappledThings · 13/01/2022 20:09

Don't be so ridiculous. You look fine.

RoseGoldEagle · 13/01/2022 20:12

You’re a human being with normal (wonderful!) skin that has creased a tiny bit from 30 years of smiling, honestly they look fine, and normal, and life is just too short to worry about not looking completely perfect

MsMeNz · 13/01/2022 20:12

I think looks average in terms of tiny lines but also that you look like someone who smiles a lot and is friendly with lovely eyes

MsAgnesDiPesto · 13/01/2022 20:14

Cancel the Botox and use the money for something that will make you happy. Stop looking in the mirror (and looking at social media, and taking selfies) so much, and enjoy life while you’re young.

The pursuit of an impossible perfection will never make you happy. When you’re old, you’ll never wish you’d had more cosmetic procedures. You might regret not enjoying yourself while you could.

Longcovid21 · 13/01/2022 20:15

Eh?

doadeer · 13/01/2022 20:15

You're smiling everyone has lines!

fleurpots · 13/01/2022 20:16

My two year old niece has lines around her eyes when she smiles!!

Delatron · 13/01/2022 20:17

You can’t get Botox under the eyes only in crows feet. But it can create more lines in the under eye area which is more ageing. I’ve seen this in friends and mentioned on here. It’s like the wrinkles need to go somewhere.

Your eye area looks fine. Make sure you’re hydrated and an eye cream with retinol can help. SPF every day.

FelicityBob · 13/01/2022 20:18

Wrinkles are a fact of life. It’s normal. You have lovely eyes. If you get Botox now you’ll be having it for the rest of your life as your natural face will never be good enough for you. Please don’t do it
