To feel that these lines are too severe for my age

I am sorry in advance if this offends anyone, I hope not

I'm 30, 31 in a couple of months and I'm pretty unhappy with the lines around my eyes and dark circles.

I've never smoked, don't drink at all, use retinol, moisturise every day, wear sunscreen SPF 50 etc yet I feel that they're quite bad lines for somebody of my age.

I've booked an appointment for Botox this weekend

Do eat too much sugar and wonder if this could be affecting it.

Any honest feedback is appreciated

Awww OP I am the same age as you and my lines are very similar around my eyes!
I am breast feeding but as soon as I decide to stop I'm going to get Botox. I'm so excited. Whether anyone else things they're servers or not I'm conscious and I can't wait for them to be gone!

Enjoy trying something new 🥰

You look fine, you have too much time on your hands.

lineyeyes · 13/01/2022 21:31

Hi op,

I'm 34 now. I started noticing crows feet when I was 25. I didn't do anything about them until I was 29 and I woke up one morning and I had crows feet AND 11's and I wanted them gone...!

I've had Botox on and off since I was 29.
What I have noticed is that although my crows feet don't extend as far now, the Botox has caused lines to form directly under my eyes which is actually far more ageing when I smile.

I have also been noticing a few odd lines as well, like one above my eyelid, just below my eyebrow when I try to frown!

Maybe you'd just do the crows feet and you'd be fine but I'd like to say that your lines look way better than mine, and once you start it is hard to stop.

I'm due to go back in February and I'm not sure if I will, I'd like to just accept the wrinkles but of course it is hard.

Couple of pics for you in my bathroom light which probably isn't the best. Smiling and not.

I don't think the lines age you - your skin is plump and youthful. Faces shouldn't look like blank mannequins - it really fucks with the way humans communicate.

I'm another one who feels despair for this society that women have to live in Sad

VestaTilley · 13/01/2022 21:33

Don’t have Botox.

You look great- those are normal laughter lines.

How you age is not determined by how much you shell out on moisturiser - it’s genetic and bone structure plays a huge part, as well as lifestyle factors.

If you sunbathe a lot then that causes skin damage that Botox won’t fix.

I’m 35, I look a lot like my DF; he has deep lines on his forehead and round his eyes- I’m developing them in all the same places. I expect I’ll end up looking at least a decade older than my DH (who is actually 6 months older than me). And you know what? I. Don’t. Care.

I hate the way women are pressured and expected to look “beautiful” and not age. It’s shit. It’s treating women like objects.

Embrace who you are, and how you look. You will be so much happier.

arethereanyleftatall · 13/01/2022 21:38

I know it's not what you asked, but I find posts like this really really sad. So much focus on the wrong things. Injecting things in to your body to look younger. Deeply deeply sad.

RobotValkyrie · 13/01/2022 21:39

You just look a bit dehydrated to me.

At around your age, I found I would have lines appearing or disappearing depending on the time of the day, and how much I'd slept, when was the last time I drank water or had a shower/bath, etc.

Just take it easy Brew

OverByYer · 13/01/2022 21:40

Just use filters like everyone else seems to do

Fritilleries · 13/01/2022 21:54

Oh my god. You have got to be kidding me. You look your age. What is so bloody awful about looking one's age? I'm 35 and when I smile I have lines because, er, skin moves! Don't get botox. Go to sleep and have a word with yourself.

DroopyClematis · 13/01/2022 22:04

Your post is so very sad.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with your skin around your eyes.

Please don't get jabbed up , you'll just look plastic.

Lucia23 · 13/01/2022 22:18

Agree it's genetics. I'm about same age and don't have lines but in last couple of years have dark circles! Drinking more water has helped...and investing in a good concealer.

I actually like crinkly eyes in people. It makes me think they aren't afraid to smile and enjoy life.

RedHelenB · 14/01/2022 09:47

Yabu. As you get older you get wrinkled. Botox looks dreadful anyway, I wouldn't waste your money.

Mischance · 14/01/2022 09:51

Honestly you are overthinking this. There is no problem and the botox will be an unnecessary treatment (and carries its own risks) and a waste of money.

Lots of much more important things in life to be thinking about. Lots to do and enjoy out there while you are agonising over this non-problem.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/01/2022 10:17

@Millionairesshortbreadshort

With kindness. Get off social media. It’s toxic. Take less selfies. Enjoy life. That’s my advice.
With kindness, I agree.
yellowsmileyface · 14/01/2022 10:31

I used to have an abundance of physical insecurities, absolutely hated my own face. But I recently reached a point of having a sort of epiphany and realizing looks really don't matter (I'm 30 btw). It's so hard to tell someone who is insecure "looks don't matter/you look fine!" because they have to really realize it for themselves.

But it is SO rewarding and liberating when you do get to that point, so much more rewarding than the brief boost of confidence botox awards you.

Don't waste your youth worrying about getting old, because you'll definitely regret it when you are older.

BasiliskStare · 14/01/2022 13:54

Well to get back to the original question - I don't think those lines look to old for your age. You just look cheeky - happy - smiley - rather lovely (IMHO)

I said above and will repeat - genetics & drinking lots of water is a huge part of how skin looks . I know people who have had botox and it just looked a bit strange - that said it must be your choice.

Worried456776 · 14/01/2022 15:30

Wow people are soooo judgey about Botox ! If it makes someone feel better about there insecurities then who are you to judge really ?!

SlyAvocado · 14/01/2022 15:41

@Worried456776 half the time it’s the bloody Botox culture that puts the insecurities there in the first place.

vodkaredbullgirl · 14/01/2022 15:44

Hmm look fine to me

Cochabamba · 14/01/2022 15:46

Exactly

Cochabamba · 14/01/2022 15:48

I hate the argument that these procedures make someone feel better. We really have to step back and wonder why and how this has come about

Mo1911 · 14/01/2022 15:51

@Cagedbirdsinging

I think your skin looks fine but you may want to get your blood cholesterol checked . Those little white cysts under your eye can be a sign of raised levels .
The white dots aren't the ones you need to worry about regarding cholesterol so forget that. It's a super close up picture, might be makeup/ milae but definitely not a sign of high cholesterol which look completely different 😊
SunscreenCentral · 14/01/2022 16:04

Botox at the side of the eye can significantly worsen the appearance under the eye, creating bagginess where there was none.

Source: personal experience

Good news - Botox is temporary. I stick with getting my 11's done which does loads for my face and general appearance. I like my smile lines and I'm glad to have them

Campfirewood · 14/01/2022 16:09

You look absolutely fine!
Get off social media and appreciate it’s a privilege to get older and get wrinkles.
I do mean this kindly 😊
