To feel that these lines are too severe for my age

I am sorry in advance if this offends anyone, I hope not

I'm 30, 31 in a couple of months and I'm pretty unhappy with the lines around my eyes and dark circles.

I've never smoked, don't drink at all, use retinol, moisturise every day, wear sunscreen SPF 50 etc yet I feel that they're quite bad lines for somebody of my age.

I've booked an appointment for Botox this weekend

Do eat too much sugar and wonder if this could be affecting it.

Any honest feedback is appreciated

You have pretty eyes! I think you look lovely- I see you already use retinol, I’d give it a bit longer than 2 months. Do you know what strength you’re using? It can be quite drying to begin with as it’s harsh on your skin, so you’re meant to start weak and build up strong. I’m using this works tired eyes (I think it’s called!) and I think it’s really good. Vitamin c cream in the morning with a high SPF on top.

Personally I’d give the retinol a longer go before considering Botox 😊

Wait until you have sagging, then you'll complain
😂 and pissing yourself every time you exert yourself 😂

In all seriousness Botox is your friend here if it bothers you. It makes times slow down a bit!

billy1966 · 13/01/2022 20:21

You have gorgeous eyes and those lines are not age but smile lines.

Eye creams are not necessarily the best option, but a good night serum that can very gently be patted near the area.

Keep going with factor 50, your 50 year old self will thank you.

Worried456776 · 13/01/2022 20:25

Don’t worry about it Botox will sort it 🙂 I get two forehead areas and my crows feet I’ve had it done twice so far and I’m 31 it’s brilliant I think il get it forever now 😂

daisyjgrey · 13/01/2022 20:33

That's my slightly crinkly eye when I was 32, if that's any help.

I don't mind eye wrinkles, especially the smiley ones, they make me feel/look happy and smiley. I enjoy the onset of marionette lines a lot less.

You don't need to do anything OP. You don't look old. My DD doesn't like lines around her eyes but I told her if you didn't have them your skin would split every time you smiled!

Blossomtoes · 13/01/2022 20:34

Those eyes look very much like mine did when I was 30.

Flowersandhearts · 13/01/2022 20:35

YABU! Completely normal for anyone over 25.

Mine have been much worse since my late 20s and I don't smoke, only drink on special occasions (family history of alcoholism), eat lots of fruit and veg and exercise regularly.

musicviking1 · 13/01/2022 20:37

I think your eye area looks fine. I am 43 and I really want tear trough filler I've started to notice that when when I'm under a light my under eye area looks hallow and looks like I have bags. I have high cheek bones which doesn't help the matter.

HTH1 · 13/01/2022 20:38

Honestly OP, it’s not worth getting Botox. Just invest in a good eye cream and keep smiling 🙂

olivehater · 13/01/2022 20:40

You are fair so will inevitably get more wrinkles. But I don’t necessarily think wrinkles are what ages you. It’s more gravity and sagginess which is harder to do anything about.

InTheNameOfAllThatIsHonest · 13/01/2022 20:41

Can you post a picture where you are not smiling? I think that's a much better indicator. Your skin looks very nice btw - no texture, very small pores. That is so important!

Norts10 · 13/01/2022 20:43

I don’t think you’re being unreasonable or ridiculous.
I’m the same age as you and get Botox, it makes me feel better and definitely works.

Mia184 · 13/01/2022 20:43

How much non-alcoholic beverages do you drink on an average day? I get some fine lines when my liquid intake is too low. When I drink about 2.5-3 litres (mainly herbal tea), they disappear.

RedRobyn2021 · 13/01/2022 20:49

As soon as my baby has fallen asleep, I'm going to the bathroom to look at my eyes!

We are the same age at I don't use special moisturiser and I used to smoke

I mean are they even wrinkles if you're smiling though?

NamechangeApril21 · 13/01/2022 20:56

I'm the same age as you and my eyes are similar, and I really dislike them. Lines I.can live with (I've some starting on my forehead) but the hollow eyes I think age me more, are hard to cover with makeup.and I think just stick out like a sore thumb - when I see my reflection or a photo it's all I can see. I know it's irrational, and other people don't notice like I do, but it's definitely my worst (only) insecurity. I have an appointment for under eye fillers, as apparently lotions and potions won't do anything for hollow eyes.

Changemaname1 · 13/01/2022 20:58

I am a Botox fan , however, you are meant to have lines when you smile 😂

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 13/01/2022 21:02

Its because they have become a thing for you. You're noticing it on yourself more than others as it's the first thing you look at.

I felt the same about my forehead, always staring at it in the mirror. Botox fixed that...

Jinglebellsoncake · 13/01/2022 21:06

You might not see a huge difference for these lines with botox.
Long term Retinol use and peptides will be more effective.
Botox is excellent for dynamic lines, for example the crow's feet.

HeyBlaby · 13/01/2022 21:09

Totally normal, but botox will help if that's what you want (from experience)

Antsgomarching · 13/01/2022 21:10

I really don’t think they are too bad. When i started retinol my fine lines got a little worse for a bit - try a moisturiser with urea like eucerin (i would go for 10%). Honestly i’d rather have a few lines than the god awful sagging I’ve got! Barely any lines but deep laughter lines

Donthaveagoodusername · 13/01/2022 21:17

Thank you for all the comments, they have helped me to feel better

Think of it like this... are you judging others for not being perfectly beautiful? No, then stop judging yourself.
