If there was an election tomorrow, who would you vote for?

Obviously the Tories are a complete shitshow, but Labour aren’t a lot better and I couldn’t hand on heart vote for either in good conscience right now.

So… IF a snap election was called, like in December 2019, who would you vote for? Would it make a difference to you if Boris was replaced as Tory leader? Would you even bother voting or maybe go for a totally different national or local party?

Just curious!

Have we ever had a good prime minister?

fuckyourpronouns · 12/01/2022 20:18

Conservative. The rest are either a meaningless vote, unable to confirm what a woman is or a general mess

I'd like Liz truss to be up for prime minister. She would definitely get my vote.

luckylavender · 12/01/2022 20:19

@IHateCoronavirus

I am in political no-man’s land. The conservatives are a shit show, and everyone else is unwilling to protect women. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Could I vote for Robert Winston?
You think the Conservatives protect women?
NoWordForFluffy · 12/01/2022 20:19

The Women's Equality Party seem to believe that 'women' includes 'men who call themselves women'.

I have nobody to vote for. We only had the three main parties at the last GE. I'm hoping we get a GC independent next time.

AledsiPad · 12/01/2022 20:19

Nobody. What a waste of time it’s always been. Nobody ever gives a fuck about people like me, kids like mine. I’m done with all of it.

luckylavender · 12/01/2022 20:20

@Clackyheels

I'm not sure but fact people keep saying, 'Labour aren't a lot better' 'or what's the alternative ' infuriates me. How? How are any other party worse than the one in power right now? I honestly don't understand how anyone can use that to justify voting tory? Surely the answer is 'I don't know but I'm never voting tory again' are people not watching the same stuff as me??

Labour, but I wouldn't be voting for Keir.

Djwt · 12/01/2022 20:21

Hate them all. Would probably vote Tory. Hate them too. But marginally better then the alternatives.

MaternityNurse007 · 12/01/2022 20:21

Agree 100% with luckylavender

MadameMinimes · 12/01/2022 20:22

Labour, but I’m in a constituency where it’s a two-way Labour/Conservative race. If I was in a constituency where the Lib Dems/Greens/SNP/Plaid had a realistic chance of winning against the Tories then that’s who I’d vote for. In the last election over half of voters voted for those parties, and we got a huge conservative majority. I will always vote tactically for whichever of the more progressive parties has the best chance of winning in the constituency I live in. I’d like to see progressive coalition governments. That best represents the political will of the British electorate in my view. The majority of people vote for broadly progressive parties that could probably work pretty well together in coalitions.

Hemingwayzcatz · 12/01/2022 20:22

Labour. Tactical voting because my constituency is a safe Labour seat with a frontbencher MP so can’t see that changing. Happily voted for Corbyn, not so keen on Starmer but I’d do anything to ditch the tories.

SecretKeeper1 · 12/01/2022 20:25

@MagicKit

Have we ever had a good prime minister?
Erm let’s see, in my memory: Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron, May, Johnson. Nope, don’t like any of them - half were politically dangerous and the other half were painfully dull.

Tories have been in 11 or 12 years now, Labour had 13 years before that and danced us into a housing crash and economic recession.

Would Boris have fared better if Covid hadn’t come along? I think maybe yes. It’s clear he wanted to be a “good time” prime minister and just lead us through Brexit, waving union jacks and being jolly British.

Green but we are a two-party country so it would have to be labour otherwise you'd just lose your vote. Back in December 2019 I did a survey to see which party I suited based on questions that matched their manifestos. I got matched with green.

winolady · 12/01/2022 20:27

I would absolutely vote for the conservatives.
Despite the whole garden party business in which the toxic vulture-like-media are jumping on currently, (and the whole country is falling for it..)
they have done a good job of keeping this country together during a global pandemic - with the furlough scheme and large amounts of grants available for affected businesses. They also got brexit through when the majority of this country voted for it. They still have my vote (sorry ladies!)

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 12/01/2022 20:27

Anyone, anyone who stands a chance of ousting the current shower of bastards. In my constituency it will be lib dem, although we’re one of the safest blue seats in the country sadly. Oh how I fucking hate them.

MyQuietPlace · 12/01/2022 20:28

Never Labour
Not Boris
Probably Ukip or whatever they call themselves

SecretKeeper1 · 12/01/2022 20:28

But but but… the imaginary snap election is tomorrow, so what you gonna do?!

If you’re going to blame Labour for a global recession, then you should blame Boris for Covid.

Unsure33 · 12/01/2022 20:29

Might depend who is in charge .

Can’t vote Labour when they don’t recognise women as women .

But I would look at the manifesto at the time .

Why ? If you look at excess death rates in Europe we are not the worse . Plus regarding lockdowns he was dammed if he did and damned if he didn’t .
ufucoffee · 12/01/2022 20:32

@SNUG2022

Lib dems had Aimee Challenor and hate women. Greens called women non-men.
And this is just another reason why I'd never vote for either of them.

Ok good point, but Labour weren’t all that, were they? Look how hated Blair is now. I was a student in 97 during the “things can only get better” campaign. What a great summer that was. I had hope for Labour. Now I have no hope for either party.

Labour

I enjoy Angela’s interviews very much. She’s unrelenting

User135644 · 12/01/2022 20:34

Tory until Labour sort themselves out over TRA.
