If there was an election tomorrow, who would you vote for?

Obviously the Tories are a complete shitshow, but Labour aren’t a lot better and I couldn’t hand on heart vote for either in good conscience right now.

So… IF a snap election was called, like in December 2019, who would you vote for? Would it make a difference to you if Boris was replaced as Tory leader? Would you even bother voting or maybe go for a totally different national or local party?

Just curious!

@Clackyheels

I'm not sure but fact people keep saying, 'Labour aren't a lot better' 'or what's the alternative ' infuriates me. How? How are any other party worse than the one in power right now? I honestly don't understand how anyone can use that to justify voting tory? Surely the answer is 'I don't know but I'm never voting tory again' are people not watching the same stuff as me??
I dont see that as justifying voting tory, more justifying not voting.
SecretKeeper1 · 12/01/2022 19:41

@DdraigGoch

Monster Raving Loony Party. The most sensible party out there.
I bet they’d get quite a few more votes than usual to be honest Grin

Labour

DdraigGoch · 12/01/2022 19:41

@ArabellaScott

What if Liz Truss was leader?
Yes, she at least will speak out and say openly that "women do have vaginas". Most of the other MPs on offer seem to struggle with something so basic.
blublub · 12/01/2022 19:42

Yeah, cons are corrupt and lab/lib don’t even know what a woman is. I wouldn’t vote.

DirtyDancing · 12/01/2022 19:44

Labour. Only because this is a strong hold and I would hate for the Tories to get in. I'm not a big fan of Labour but fuck me, I don't want the Tories in again. Ever again.

We all need to vote carefully.

Samcro · 12/01/2022 19:44

Labour
Would never vote conservative after how scameron treated. Disabled people, as for johnson, there are no words.

Oh Christ, another shitshow of a party then. I’ll cross them off my imaginary list.

No one.

A plague on all their houses.

user1497207191 · 12/01/2022 19:47

I'd be looking at the person rather than the party, as I can't vote for any of the 3 main parties at the moment. So, my best bit is to look at the candidates personally and choose the one who I think would be best for our constituency. If the best is Tory, so be it, likewise if the best is Labour. I've definitely moved my voting habits as to whose best for local issues. Any candidate parachuted in from London who seems to be more obsessed with national politics rather than local concerns won't get my vote regardless of party.

Zotter · 12/01/2022 19:47

@Zara2008

No idea.

I've never voted Tory.

Couldn't bear to vote for Labour at the moment due to self ID and their pro lockdown stance.

If u mean lockdown recently, in December 21 Labour didnt call for another lockdown but some further sensible measures that would all keep cases - and hence hospitalisations and deaths - down while allowing the country to continue living their lives. Instead Conservatives chose minimal and inadequate restrictions with the inevitable results we see today of 19,000 in hospital and continuing high cases.
Foxyloxy1plus1 · 12/01/2022 19:49

I have no idea who I’d vote for. Normally, I’d look at the manifesto and see whose ideas and policies appeal the most. Obviously it’s a compromise and an inexact science. Now though, I can’t see any party really that I’d want to vote for. It would go very much against the grain not to vote though. I’ve always voted, at every general and local election.

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 12/01/2022 19:49

@Blinkingbatshit

Oh god I suppose I’m politically homeless if the libs & greens are backing self id too🙈….how many of us are there?!
Another one here. We need a party for politically homeless feminists!
PlanetNormal · 12/01/2022 19:49

Labour.

I’m a former Labour activist from the Blairite wing who refused to vote for the party when Corbyn was leader, for obvious reasons. Now the grown-ups are back in charge, I can vote Labour again.

MaternityNurse007 · 12/01/2022 19:51

I have promised myself during the pandemic that i will NEVER vote for Torys , the way they reacted in an emergency situation at the beginning and during, the ,,let's the body pile up" comment from our prime minister himself, lack of information and action during compared to other countries is shocking, ,,the Tory's garden party, the poor kids shcool lunch with half a carrot and taxpayers were paying £15 for it and coincidentally they went to large companies ,,friends of Boris" and so on....
I want them out, the way they treat and speak about the public is shocking, just lost for words.
I bet most has no idea that more council went bankrupt, yes bankrupt than ever before under Tories running them , even before the Pandemic. Luton, Northamptonshire etc....

I truly believe that if they don't go, this country will suffer like never before... these guys are crazy, outsourcing everything at the councils, schools etc, so huge companies ,,friends" put their hands on public money and overcharge for works,it is scary to watch.

Undemocratic is an understatement!

Will vote Labour to get them out,not because i agree with everything, but they are the only ones who got a chance to get them out for now.

girlmom21 · 12/01/2022 19:52

I'd probably vote Conservative because our MP is half decent.

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 12/01/2022 19:52

I couldn't bring myself to vote Tory but I'm not voting for any party that does not recognise women as a distinct sex group
I'll hope for a good independent candidate or spoil my paper

GuckGuckDoose · 12/01/2022 19:52

This.

I would vote for whoever was most likely to get/keep the Conservative candidate out.

So in my constituency - SNP. If I lived down south, Lib Dem or labour. We are at the point now where getting the Conservatives out is the absolute priority. Self-ID is an important issue, but stick with the status quo and the right to protest it will be lost, even more billions will be ploughed in to the pockets of corrupt private individuals and the tories will nail down their constitutional ability to stay in power for as long as possible and make it even harder to vote them out in future. The NHS will continue to be systematically dismantled, social care and education will be slashed even further and taxation for billionaires and corporations will be even less than it is now.

We. Need. Them. Out.

NommyChompers · 12/01/2022 19:54

Labour - self ID is one issue and I’d rather have starmer than the other options by a country mile - he has his issues but compared to a Tory he’s the second coming of christ

MargotEmin · 12/01/2022 19:54

Labour

HikingforScenery · 12/01/2022 19:55

Tories would get elected if we’d elections today.

I don’t understand why starmer isn’t better? Did I miss him being Pm? I think people tell themselves that to help them sleep at night.

WetLookKnitwear · 12/01/2022 19:55

Labour

Slim pickings though.

SecretKeeper1 · 12/01/2022 19:56

Same here Foxy, and I happily vote for our Conservative councillors in local elections because they do great work where I live. The last five years of them has seen huge improvements on the previous Labour years. Same with our Tory MP, an improvement locally (though not enough to secure my vote).

But…it’s what’s happening nationally that’s the problem. I’m so confused.
