If there was an election tomorrow, who would you vote for?

Obviously the Tories are a complete shitshow, but Labour aren’t a lot better and I couldn’t hand on heart vote for either in good conscience right now.

So… IF a snap election was called, like in December 2019, who would you vote for? Would it make a difference to you if Boris was replaced as Tory leader? Would you even bother voting or maybe go for a totally different national or local party?

Just curious!

@Brieandcamembert

Tories every time. I believe you get out of life what you put in it.
I believe the same but looking objectively I can’t see how voting for them would support that view. Please do enlighten us.

*I think those of us committed to a change of government really need to see some form of progressive alliance working strategically on targeting sitting Conservative candidates.

Yes, this. It’s really disappointing that it is the only way the tories would be unseated in my constituency, but last time around they wouldn’t consider it.*

In mine, we did - and maybe for that reason, we not only unseated our Tory MP in 2017, but our constituency was almost the only one in England where the non-Tory MP actually increased their share of the vote in 2019.

Likkleredridinghood · 15/01/2022 15:18

'I believe you get out of life what you put in'...what exactly has Johnson put in or Rees Mogg, IDS ? I agree they do get a lot out however in the form of dodgy deals etc.
@MrBIobby you vote for who aligns with your values, hopes and aspirations. I tend not to like liars or cronies who say one thing but do another and don't think they should represent our country.
No big deal you vote tory, you're not on your own 🤷 love it how you portray them as the principled underdog Grin

Is this code for "anyone who requires assistance from the state is lazy"?

saddowizca · 15/01/2022 15:35

Labour for me, but if I lived in a conservative seat I would vote Lib Dems.

Yes, if I lived in a Conservative seat I'd also be voting tactically to unseat the sitting MP.

As it is, I have a Labour MP whose performance is OK and I'm quite happy to vote for him.

ilovesooty · 15/01/2022 15:43

In fact if I still lived in my old constituency the best chance of unseating the particularly loathsome sitting MP would undoubtedly be to vote Labour.

As in - you vote for a party led by a notorious liar and then watch as he tells loads of lies and participates in corruption, ruining your country?
WorriedMumsDontSleep · 15/01/2022 15:51

Didn't Tony Blair tell lies too? Or embellish the truth? As much as I think Johnson is an awful choice, he's not exactly a standout in the fibs department.

Tony Blair is irrelevant to current voting intentions.

Johnson is the most lying, self serving, amoral and incompetent leader I have ever seen in my lifetime, and those in the cabinet endorsing him are all tainted in my opinion.

You are not wrong. Which is why it mystifies me why labour seem commited to permanently playing opposition.

WorriedMumsDontSleep · 15/01/2022 16:04

Give might be worse though.

WorriedMumsDontSleep · 15/01/2022 16:04

He is, you know. I can't remember ever having a PM who lied so blatantly and so often, even regularly lying to Parliament which is supposed to be a resigning matter. Nor someone so blatantly corrupt.

This. Why aren’t Labour upping their game? I believe if they’d replaced Corbyn before the 2019 election they’d probably have won. They need to pull their fingers out asap and secure votes on merit rather than relying on tactical voting.

I’d vote tactically for whoever is more likely to defeat my local tory MP.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 15/01/2022 22:12

I hope the politicians are reading this and realising that 50% of the population are feeling disenfranchised and disillusioned right now. There has to be an opportunity there for someone surely??

louderthan · 15/01/2022 22:20

Green.

louderthan · 15/01/2022 22:20

But I vote in Brighton Pavilion so...

Duchess379 · 15/01/2022 22:21

Coco the clown, if an option...

blyn · 15/01/2022 23:04

I would vote Labour.

Rosewaterblossom · 15/01/2022 23:14

Does nobody vote for/against their local MP?

Last time, although I didn't mind having a Tory Government at that time, I can't stand my local MP so didn't vote for him (Tory MP.) So I voted for someone else.

Hairbrush123 · 15/01/2022 23:23

Never have been a fan of Boris but I would vote for Conservative. My MP is doing a fab job in our local area including plans to open a new railway station & reinvigorate a high street near me.

mumof2nanof1 · 15/01/2022 23:27

I would vote Labour

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 15/01/2022 23:36
