If there was an election tomorrow, who would you vote for?

Obviously the Tories are a complete shitshow, but Labour aren’t a lot better and I couldn’t hand on heart vote for either in good conscience right now.

So… IF a snap election was called, like in December 2019, who would you vote for? Would it make a difference to you if Boris was replaced as Tory leader? Would you even bother voting or maybe go for a totally different national or local party?

Just curious!

First I want to marry @LondonWolf cos she is better at explaining than me.

Can I point out that all those things have happened during Tory rule and self ID was a Tory policy

And are Labour, greens, lib dems or even the terribly named womens equality party going to roll it back, change us back to single sex not gender? Will they take all the men out of the womens prison estate? Will they make sport and hospital wards single sex again?
Not forgetting rape crisis centres run by men who wonder about women who orgasm when raped and tell traumatised women to accept men in their counselling space, and "reframe their trauma" even though that's probably the very last thing raped women want to do.

manseymoo1987 · 14/01/2022 20:12

We really need a new alternative. The ones on offer all have huge reasons why I wouldn't vote for any of them. Ideologically more Labour, but their views on woman's rights means I wouldn't vote for them. I'm in NI so I actually don't get a vote anyway in who will be prime minister of 'our country'.

AllThePogs · 14/01/2022 20:39

So you are trusting Boris Johnson to care about autistic girls?

user1497207191 · 14/01/2022 20:46

@Acis

Labour. I'm ancient enough to remember at least two occasions when people said we shouldn't vote Labour into power for very similar reasons to those currently being expressed about Starmer. When they were voted in, they proved perfectly competent and certainly better than their Conservative predecessors.
You seriously think Blair and Brown were competent?
Frazzled2207 · 14/01/2022 20:59

Blair make a monumental mistake over Iraq but both Blair and brown led governments that were a thousand times more competent than we have now.

Likkleredridinghood · 14/01/2022 21:13

@user1497207191 yup. Far better than this shower. 12 years of tory government and what do they have to show for it ?

Likkleredridinghood · 14/01/2022 21:18

@shouldistop how many rapists ? Out of the whole female prison population ? More women and children, women with disabilities or homeless ones, drug addicted, women with sen etc have suffered from tory austerity policies but that's ok ?

Grilledaubergines · 14/01/2022 21:29

Conservative. Reluctantly.

Likkleredridinghood · 14/01/2022 22:04

@Grilledaubergines which policies do you admire ?

Kendodd · 14/01/2022 22:11

The bizarre thing is that Tories hate the poor and yet at the same time have policies to create as many poor as possible.

bozzabollix · 14/01/2022 22:13

I’d literally vote for anyone (barring of course twats like UKIP) to get the Tories out. Anything is better, including the Monster Raving Loony Party.

How many women should be raped for you to say enough?

tiredanddangerous · 14/01/2022 22:17

Labour. I live in a very labour area and my local mp is great. I completely disagree with self id though so I am torn.

MrBIobby · 14/01/2022 22:30

Which other parties are going to roll back self ID and protect women and girls? I'm happy to vote for a party that knows what a woman is. Which one?

Anyone... ?

Ceto · 14/01/2022 22:32

I would definitely vote Labour.

Acis · 14/01/2022 22:34

The Communist party and the SDP are, I believe, the only parties who support women's rights

MrBIobby · 14/01/2022 23:08

Communist party? Fuck no 🤣

Vargas · 14/01/2022 23:18

No idea. Used to be a Labour voter but can't vote for a party that calls me a bigot for not wanting to share a changing room with a male bodied 'woman'.

I'm politically homeless.

Likkleredridinghood · 14/01/2022 23:34

@Terfydactyl How many have been raped ? You infer many women have been raped whilst in prison yet you were happy for millions of poor women and children to be hit by austerity, a busted flush of an economic policy. Lives and futures have been blighted by it. Neither are good obviously but ask why many of those women ended up in prison in the first place and it's back to inequality/ deprivation/poverty, in part caused by tory austerity...

madisonbridges · 14/01/2022 23:46

@AllThePogs
So many things have got worse for girls and women under Boris Johnson.

I'm not a fan Boris Johnson. So many things I dislike. However, I'm a woman and haven't noticed things being worse for me than fir my male relatives and friends. But I could gave missed them
You said so many things so give me 10 things, ok that's a lot of typing so six things, of how things have got worse for me in 25 months.

deeedeee · 14/01/2022 23:48

Snp

Nightlystroll · 14/01/2022 23:56

@hopperrock
Using his failure to predict the banking crisis as a reason to vote Conservative makes no sense

Where have I said anyone should do that? What he did or rather didn't do, is in the past. I don't see how that influences today.
I didn't like the shameful way that Blair got us into the Iraq war. But it wouldn't stop me voting Labour.
I don't like these irresponsible parties. But they wouldn't stop me voting Conservative.

We need a mumsnet party…
Likkleredridinghood · 14/01/2022 23:58

@madisonbridges you are a fan of the tories. Why be so disingenuous ?
