To ask what you’re doing awake post-midnight?

5YearsLeft · 12/01/2022 00:24

I had a day that just really banged me about, physically, emotionally, just all the ways, and now, I’m laying here awake and staring at the ceiling.

So why are you awake? Crying baby? Can’t stop thinking? Worried about something tomorrow? Pain somewhere in your body being an arsehole?

Welcome?

I should be getting my car back tomorrow, two weeks without it after some idiot decided to t-bone me on a roundabout. I hope they've washed it!

FelicityFlops · 18/01/2022 03:37

I am an early morning person. Tend to fall asleep between 21:00 and 23:00 and wake up between 04:00 and 05:30. Gives me time to potter around, read the papers online, have coffee etc. before starting work. Quite happy to be awake early today as I have some brain work to do and my brain works better first thing - plus nobody else will be online to "bother" me.

Giggorata · 18/01/2022 03:41

DH is diurnal, unlike me, but we have to join schedules to put up some fencing late morning, so I’m going to sleep now 🥱

Crazycrazylady · 18/01/2022 03:53

UTI
Am sitting on loo all night

TenSteps · 18/01/2022 03:54

Great now my carpal tunnel syndrome is coming out to play. Sooner I can have the surgery the better. So painful.

CrumblyCrimble · 18/01/2022 04:01

Just woke with night sweats. Had to grab a dry blanket from another room, change quilt, night clothes, find a dry side of the pillow to lie on, the whole palaver has woken me up properly now 🤮 so gross.

Mental note to make sure I have all the stuff by the bed before I turn in!

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 18/01/2022 04:04

Puppy just cried for the loo, managed a wee and a poop outside .

Sanada · 18/01/2022 04:04

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and for reasons unknown to me I keep waking at 3-4am. Can't get back to sleep for ages but then start to feel sleepy around 6-7 (but can't go back to sleep because I have to do the school run)

Snog · 18/01/2022 04:36

Had to take my adult dd to A&E for a suspected cardiac event so now waiting at home for updates as wasn't allowed into A & E with her.

TenSteps · 18/01/2022 04:53

You must be terrified, I hope she's ok.
5YearsLeft · 18/01/2022 05:26

@TenSteps Congrats about the car! But good grief about getting t-boned. I've always had some whiplash after those kinds of accidents. Were you in it at the time? And I think almost always wash it before they start working on it, but then maybe I've just been lucky. And so srory about your carpal tunnel. I know someone who had just dreaful nerve pain from that, so I can understand the desire to get the surgery and get it now. As a sidenote, the surgery DID help them tremendously with both nerve pain and

@FelicityFlops That sounds quite lovely if my brain actually worked that way. No one bothering you, some lovely quiet time, and your'e still getting enough sleep. And puttering with coffee is one of life's great joys. Just stay away from that new bastard, Wordle.

@Giggorata For some reason, I saw "fencing" and immediately thought of the sword fighting kind and not the "surround the back garden" kind. Can you tell this new COVID no-sleep thing isn't going well? I hope you and DH have a good time either surrounding your garden OR having a duel, whatever works.

@CrazyCrazyLady Oh. No. I've had those symptoms recently. No one can really understand unless they've had one and I don't think men can understand because theirs aren't the same. But yes, if you're having that, "I've just gone, but I never stop feeling like I need to go, AND it's VERY unpleassant," then I'm so sorry! I hope you feel better soon and get out of the loo.

@CrumblyCrimble Night sweats are so gross and uncomfortable; I'm sorry! And the whole damn song and dance o having to change everything and then find a dry area to sleep in. I hope you can get back to bed soon (or may already be there!

@Fooshufflewickjbannanapants Hey, congrats to puppy! These things should be celebrated in life, even if it's unfortunately at 4am. At least it's not on the carpet at 4am.

@Sanada You know, this is the time I wake up when I'm most stiff/painful with an autoimmune disease, so it could be that there's something about this time of night where our body does... a thing? Reaches peak... something? Can you tell I am a very smart, adult scientific person. Good Lord. But I do completely understand what you mean. I hope it passes for you and you get some through sleep soon.

@Snog Oh no, how horribly stressful. She has the event: stress. You take her to A&E: more stress. You can't stay with your DD: even more stress. While you may end up being more comfortable at home, and more rested for when she needs your help, I'm sure you'd much rather be with her, and I hope you get news very soon. I also hope she's okay! All my fingers crossed for you.

I'm up and scared. I've got this feeling like the veins behind my eyes are just... wrong. Like they're under pressure. I told my friend yesterday, when I had COVID last, it was alpha, and it seemed to attack my breathing problems. Now this omicron seems to attack my vein problems. Might try to sleep for a few hours and if it still feels like this or worse, might have to hospital. And i don't want to. Wish me luck

Absolutely no idea. I've been awake since 2am after having fallen asleep around 10pm so I hope I am able to function on 4 hours sleep. 😔 Night before last, DD woke me up a total of 7 times so I basically didn't sleep. I'm so annoyed. Going to be on a caffeine high all day by the looks of it. Wish me luck 😩

Snog · 18/01/2022 10:35

@5YearsLeft I really do wish you well and thank you so much for your kindness and understanding.

Hospital experience found no explanation for pain level that made my dd cry. So whilst probably not cardiac they don't know what it was or if it will recur. I really wish I hadn't taken her in as she had to wait over 6 hours alone in a noisy and uncomfortable environment and she already suffers from anxiety - she is feeling traumatised. I should have insisted on staying with her - nobody comforted her even though she was visibly crying several times. My recent NHS experiences have been a complete lack of caring 😔

Snog · 18/01/2022 11:18

Hope you have had some refreshing sleep and pain is gone Thanks

Crazycrazylady · 18/01/2022 19:00

Thanks five years

Got antibiotics from my health insurance doctor this morning so praying tonight will be better

Hoping for all the others on this thread as well ( excluding all the lunatics who appear to enjoy getting up in the middle of the nightWink

Snog · 19/01/2022 22:27

@5YearsLeft how are you doing today?
Hope you are feeling better.

5YearsLeft · 20/01/2022 00:45

@shas19 congrats!!! Hope mum and baby are well Flowers

@Snog I honestly don’t know. After my epically horrible hospital visit last night, I’m so drained. I slept until noon today and then off and on the rest of the day and yet I’m still so sick tired that I’m having trouble even making sense while typing so I have to go to sleep. I’m just… not well, I don’t think?
