I had a day that just really banged me about, physically, emotionally, just all the ways, and now, I’m laying here awake and staring at the ceiling.

So why are you awake? Crying baby? Can’t stop thinking? Worried about something tomorrow? Pain somewhere in your body being an arsehole?

Welcome?

10 week old baby just had a poo explosion and is so happy with herself that she's just sitting here smiling. (I'm smiling back Smile)

momiamarichman · 16/01/2022 03:50

Hi everyone, sorry to hear so many of us struggle in the early hours!

I'm awake with anxiety, haven't slept since 8.30am yesterday and absolutely knackered but just cannot calm down enough to sleep. Sad

5YearsLeft · 16/01/2022 03:51

@TenSteps You’re kidding! I have myasthenia gravis and vasculitis. Unfortunately, the combination is just horrific luck and it’s killing me (the myasthenia might have been fine in it’s own but they can’t find anything to stop the vasculitis in me - none of the medications have worked, and especially with the medications I need for myasthenia). And then today, I’ve got some kind of infection from the vasculitis, BUT it’s causing muscle failure in the myasthenia gravis. It’s absolute crap, is what it is. I mean, I can’t just chow down on Mestinon like popcorn. I’d be in the WC until the Second Coming.

Oh bless! Smile Sounds like a nightmare but seems like you're making the best of it!
5YearsLeft · 16/01/2022 03:54

@Hannahb26 Bless her Grin If only we could all get back to being that innocent. I definitely cry if I have a pop explosion in my late 30s.

@momiamarichman Oh no. I’m sure you’re just completely exhausted. Maybe time to talk to your GP about medication for your anxiety? Or if you’re in some, the fact that it’s not working. I mean, I know none of us should be up, but you shouldn’t have to live like that. You must be just barely putting one foot in front of the other. Good luck!!!

Menopause insomnia and addictive needlepoint while listening to true crime podcast!

5YearsLeft · 16/01/2022 04:19

@Geppili Well, of all the insomnias, addictive needlepoint and a true crime podcast do sound like a nice way to spend it! Which podcast and can we see the needlepoint?

Good tunes @5YearsLeft ! You definitely need the Gabriel & Dresden Sweeping Strings remix of As The Rush Comes though! (I used to DJ/write music/play piano) SmileSmile

5YearsLeft · 16/01/2022 06:24

@TenSteps Oooo! I’ll look for it. I definitely have one Gabriel and Dresden remix of that song, but maybe the wrong one, ha.

TenSteps · 16/01/2022 06:28

It's almost 11 minutes long Smile

5YearsLeft · 16/01/2022 06:33

@TenSteps Not necessarily a bad thing…

OP posts:
5YearsLeft · 16/01/2022 06:36

@TenSteps So why don’t you DJ/write music/play piano anymore? Sounds amazing but I understand if other work or other life stuff got in the way.

Well, that's it for tonight's thread everyone; the sun has risen, and either we do or we give the hell up and stay in bed pretending sleep will someday happen. Whether you're facing Sunday Funday or Sunday Scaries, the Insomnia Thread is there with you.... lurking behind you... probably in the begonias outside your kitchen window.

For those with lovely, lovely cats ( @athenajm80, @purpleme12 ) enjoy them today.

For those with lovely cats and A NEW BABY, enjoy both of those ( @Queenie6655 ).

@LovelyYellowLabrador, I'm assuming maybe you've got a lovely dog, so enjoy that, and we enjoy seeing you, so hopefully we'll see you next time.

@hilariousnamehere I hope you get good results for your cat and that your mum runs out of steam and just decides to sit around with her own cuppa until it's time for her to leave (perfect solution!).

Some people just came by once, mentioned why they were up and I didn't see them again, but I hope you're feeling better and that @aimeehedge, you have less pain, and @kelly7889, you let us know if you need more curtain help (ha), and @notimeforaname, I do hope things work out with your partner and you can go back to having a few nice days (though I'm a little worried that a few nice days stand out from the rest of the time? Hope you're okay).

@weegiemum Just hang in there! Monday is only one day away! You may be less than 24 hours from your appointment now if it's in the monring. Fingers crossed for you.

And our next soon-to-be new mums!!!! @bethabean, hope the induction goes well, and you'll have a baby by tomorrow night's thread!
@shas19, congrats on making it to labour ward and "eviction time" and I hope reduced movement just mean that baby is ready to be here with you NOW and may already be here, in fact. Good luck to you both!

@TenSteps Yet again, I'm so sorry about your partner. You've been through something absolutely unimaginable, but you've still been very kind about my music and other things. Thanks for reaching out and sharing, and so glad we could do some music exchange. Was a bit disappointed to discover the Gabriel and Dresden Sweeping Strings Mix was ONLY 10min, 41sec, not 11 min, but you know, we can't have everything, har har.

@Hannahb26 I hope you finally got baby back to sleep after the poo explosion, and way to look on the bright side of life. Monty Python and the boys would be very proud.

@Momiamarichman Really wishing you better luck with your anxiety this upcoming night and day!

Hoping there's a gorgeous needlepoint out there somewhere with @Geppeli.

And that's it. See you again tomorrow night after midnight!

5YearsLeft Thank you for every single kind word you said to me last night, from the bottom of my heart.
A stranger taking a few minutes out of their time to pay attention to you in a shitty time, can really mean more than they could ever know. Thank you.

5YearsLeft · 16/01/2022 17:05

Hello everyone - I won’t be on the thread tonight. I went to the hospital yesterday to get help for my autoimmune condition, because I had a sore throat that was making my autoimmune condition flare up. I didn’t have a fever or a cough or a headache or anything. I was SO angry at them for putting me in the “COVID section” and making me wait forever and take a COVID test. Except my husband was supposed to leave on a plane today for an urgent family meeting and the PCR result wasn’t back. So I took a rapid antigen test. And then I took another. I just… I refuse to believe this is real, I got all my shots, I’ve even already HAD COVID in 2020. I’m extremely clinically vulnerable and scared.

Anyway, so I’ve promised my husband I’d stay off the internet tonight to get rest, even if it’s just laying in bed in the dark.

If any of you need some support leave a message on the thread and I’ll be back in the morning and… if you could send “no hospital stay” vibes, that would be great.

Thanks and I hope you can find something to bring you peace if you can’t sleep - music (the playlists from last night?), videos (now I’ve heard Secret Lives of Pets recommended as fun and Stay Close on Netflix recommended as a mystery), or books (I’ll recommend lots tomorrow but the coziest thing is the Lady Hardcastle series on Amazon which is super cheap).

Good luck!

@Notimeforaname Oh I’m so glad it helped! We should all try to be there for someone sometimes. There will be a day when you can too, I’m sure, when you’re feeling up for it. For now, feel better!

Hey @5YearsLeft I’m sorry you’ve managed to pick up Covid! Join the worst club ever. I hope it’s mild - it seems to be a feature of the omicron variant that it starts in the throat and is more like a cold. Being vaccinated should hopefully help keep severe illness away. Rest sounds like a good plan. x

A huge thank you from me too, you helped more than you possibly know. Hope the Covid is mild and you can get some rest.

5YearsLeft · 17/01/2022 02:18

Ah yes, I am a completely stranger none of you has ever heard of before Grin that can now actually use this thread. I awakened because my throat is so painful, it’s unreal. I hope some of you are getting quality sleep and that NONE of you are experiencing a sore throat like this. It’s like when I used to have out of control tonsillitis as a child, except I know I’ve had my tonsils removed. It’s all so ridiculous. But still painful.

MimiDaisy11 · 17/01/2022 02:24

Sorry your throat is really sore ☹️. That sounds terrible.

kittykat33 · 17/01/2022 02:50

I'm poorly. So congested that I literally cannot breathe and feeling utterly shit.

Had covid last month and wondering if I could be unlucky enough to have got it again.

Photosymphysis · 17/01/2022 02:59

Hello poorly people, you poor things. I hope you sleep soon and feel better in the morning.

I'm just awake. Slept for a couple of hours and now am awake. I do have form for this. I had a lovely weekend, I feel fine, the only thing I can think of to be anxious/stressed about is the boiler, which is an inconvenience and not really very stressful.

Just awake. Stupid brain. I keep getting drowsy and then... awake.

Tomorrow I'll feel rubbish. And I'll be unproductive so I'll get behind on work and then to bed late. 🙄

Giggorata · 17/01/2022 03:05

Since I retired, I've reverted to being semi nocturnal. It happened naturally and suits me so much better.
Lovely moon tonight, I went for a little wander when letting the dogs out for a last wee and enjoyed watching my moonlit shadow.

Sorry for those of you who are sleepless and not happy about it, or who are unwell.
I wish you peace and get well soon Flowers

Ravetastic · 17/01/2022 03:10

TW: SUICIDE/HARM

I'm awake because I had a sort of breakdown earlier today and tried to take my own life. My partner broke into the bedroom and basically fought everything off of me. All of my housemates heard and are probably talking about it. Just contemplating on how much I hate myself tbh. Guess I'll speak to my gp tomorrow.

wishingitwasspring · 17/01/2022 03:15

Hi everyone... here I am again, 3am and ping, wide awake

I'm sorry to read so many feeling unwell, I'm grateful I'm just bored. Equally grateful my days of working and/or taking care of children are behind me so in theory I could sleep in. Not something I do often though, it messes sleep up even more and feels such a waste of my day.

It's a beautiful moonlit night. We live on the edge of a city, on a hill and from my bed I can see right across the rooftop ( never bother with the curtains, no one can see in ) and I often wonder who else is up

I hope you all feel better by morning x
