I had a day that just really banged me about, physically, emotionally, just all the ways, and now, I’m laying here awake and staring at the ceiling.

So why are you awake? Crying baby? Can’t stop thinking? Worried about something tomorrow? Pain somewhere in your body being an arsehole?

Welcome?

I'm pregnant and sober, we just got home from a family event. My husband is drunk and ranting about how much he hates Facebook. He's demanding that I brainstorm ideas with him for a new social media platform. He thinks he's going to be the next Zuckerberg but "not evil". I suggested social media where you only share pictures of pets. He's stormed off to have a sulky poo because I'm not "taking it seriously".

FML.

@MoFro So, so many people with COVID coughs or watching over little ones with COVID coughs. Things that have just barely helped a little: drinking a ton of tea, and codeine (which I understand isn't the answer for everybody, and should never be taken for more than a few days); I can completely understand if it isn't for you, and I can't guarantee either of these will work. But I really do hope the coughing will ease up for you!

@sobercuriouskid Oh, don't ever feel a fraud! You're not. You're a human being just like the rest of us. And you have every right to feel the way you feel: sad, depressed, confused, in the doldrums. I just want you to feel like there's hope for both of us, you and me, to do what we really want to, to turn it around, starting here and now.

@vodkaredbullgirl. Now that sounds very cozy! Though it will require regular maintenance, like kicking one food out so that your temperature drops to comfortable, and then pulling your duvet up so you get warm enough, and then when you get too hot.... sticking a foot out of the bed so that you can cool off again.

@PeeAche I'm sorry that your husband didn't take your brilliant idea seriously, but that's the problem you're bound to have when you're a genius. I think you'd have an astonishing amount of people signing up just for the pet pictures and no longer having to deal with human drama. It's not your fault he's three sheeets to the wild and can't appreciate anything rights now. And as for the sulking... maybe time for a talk tomorrow once he gets up and gets his head on straight about how he needs to start behaving like a human being.

34 weeks pregnant and got covid. Can't breathe through my nose, it's completely blocked. About to take a hot steamy shower at 3:30 am in the morning to open my nostrils.

5YearsLeft · 15/01/2022 03:26

Oh gosh, @ForTheLoversOutThere! That's pretty annoying, I know, because those pains can mean just ANYTHING until they figure it out! I certainly hope it's nothing serious, and that they can sort you out and you'll be feeling better soon.

Speaking of feeling better... I'm having a killer sore throat, which isn't a great sign with my conditions. I'm going to have to go to bed myself, and hope that it feel better in the morning I'm going to have to attempt to go to bed over her, har har. Hopefully I'll be feeling f iby then, because this isn't a great feeling.

Just a thought but gargle salt in warm water it may help your sore throat. It won’t do any harm .

@teaandchocolate1 you poor thing hope you’re ok. I had covid recently and the congested and painful sinuses were the worst thing, plus colds for me were much worse when pregnant so I’m sure it must be awful.

I’m awake due to a silly yet horrible recurring dream which makes me wake up with my heart pumping. It’s to do with my family/or a team I’m in winning a very large sun of money but then not winning it because of something I forgot to do. And I wake up at that horrible moment that I realise. And then it takes me a little while to realise it’s not real and to calm down.

WarriorN · 15/01/2022 03:38

Awful headache since yesterday afternoon. Hoping not Covid but quite possible! A friend has only had headaches as her symptom.

Waiting for paracetamol to kick in

User2638483 · 15/01/2022 03:39

AND a variation on the theme tonight….
I already had it once tonight and calmed myself down/realised it wasn’t real.
But then had it again… and incorporated into the dream was how I had thought it wasn’t real/was only a dream… and then had a horrible moment of realising it was real and I really had not done something which had terrible consequences 🤦‍♀️

Up with my 15mo DD who decided 3am was a good time to get up today. Hoping I'll be able to have a nap later.

Athenajm80 · 15/01/2022 03:50

I've only just found this thread, so hello to everyone 😁 My body/brain has recently decided that 2.30am is a good time to wake up and be wide awake. One morning, I was even washing up at 3am cause I couldn't get back to sleep.

I slept all night last night so was hoping I'd got over the waking up at stupid o'clock, but evidently not. So here I am, reading Mumsnet and trying to get my cat Raven to not hiss at her sisters and not knead my boobs.

No tips for sleeping, but if anyone likes weird short stories, like the ones Roald Dahl wrote for adults, I've just started reading Sticky Fingers by JT Lawrence. The trilogy is free if you have Kindle Unlimited. The stories are only a few pages long, but just delightfully odd, sometimes funny, sometimes a bit creepy, but I didn't expect to enjoy them this much.

TashieWoo · 15/01/2022 04:04

I’m 24+6 weeks pregnant and woke up with heartburn… so had a couple of Rennies and I’m sitting on the sofa with water. I was also worried about the baby moving a bit less yesterday evening so I couldn’t sleep. I think she’s moving a bit now but I can’t help worrying about it a lot, considering going to triage.

DwightShrutesgirlfriend · 15/01/2022 04:28

I've been awake since 2am. My mum was diagnosed with cancer this week and I can't stop my thoughts.

BaggaTDoubleTroubleDoubleG · 15/01/2022 04:57

Back here again Confused with a blocked nose and a baby. My own Covid symptoms have ramped up - congestion, headache, sore throat and muscle aches. Thank god it’s the weekend so I can hand the kids off to DH who is so far the only negative person in the house.

Sorry to hear of the apartment struggles @5YearsLeft. Hope you’re not feeling too bad and are managing to get some
Sleep.

BaggaTDoubleTroubleDoubleG · 15/01/2022 05:01

@DwightShrutesgirlfriend Flowers

@TashieWoo I remember spending many hours awake worrying about baby movement. Fingers crossed all is well. My two always shunned a pattern and had quiet moments. I went to triage a fair bit. At 26 weeks not everywhere will monitor you but definitely get checked out if you’re worried.

TashieWoo · 15/01/2022 05:26

@BaggaTDoubleTroubleDoubleG I’ve been to triage a few times too but I think it’s my anxiety more than anything. I’ve had water and laid on my side and she’s moving a lot now so hopefully all ok, I’m concerned that I’m ‘making’ her move though. Thank you for replying, it is a stressful time and I need to remember that all babies are different! Xx

TashieWoo · 15/01/2022 05:27

Also sorry to hear you’re not well, your symptoms sound awful Sad hope you get to rest today Flowers
