AIBU to complain to sainsburys about this?

Am I being a cranky old witch, mumsnet?

Today on a 8.30-9.30 food delivery slot the delivery driver buzzed to get into the building at 8.20 and 8.21. I was still in bed and half dressed at this point. As soon as the 8.20 buzz happened I got up and began pulling clothes on. By 8.22 I was opening my front door and he was there (I'm not sure how he got through the communal front door in the end, possibly also buzzed my neighbours?). He said 'I tried buzzing but nobody let me in' to which I responded 'yes because it's not 8.30' to which he appeared to not know what to say. (A mumbled apology)

The delivery drivers are often a bit early but always call me from the van out of courtesy to check it's okay to come up early.

AIBU number 1- AIBU to think it's not okay to turn up 10 mins early in the morning with a food delivery?

AIBU number 2- AIBU to complain to the supermarket on their online tool to ask their them to remind their drivers to be more considerate if they are turning up early, particularly in the morning? (I don't want anything out of this, genuinely do just want to not have them keep coming early. I picked 8.30-9.30 instead of 8-9 for a reason).

There’s a national shortage of delivery drivers. It’s a hard job. If you’d like there to be drivers to do your deliveries, I suggest you smile and be appreciative

Smorgasborb · 10/01/2022 16:20

You are unhinged.
Yes, complain about a low paid manual worker being 8 minutes early if it makes you feel important.

MedusasBadHairDay · 10/01/2022 16:21

@gillbillwill

I did want to lay in bed til 8.29, which is why I didn't book 8-9!
That's a little silly of you honestly. If you wanted to stay in bed until 8.29 you'd have been better off gong to a later slot, so you'd then have time to get up and dressed if he'd arrived dead on the beginning of your booked time.
WhereYouLeftIt · 10/01/2022 16:21

You were expecting a delivery in ten minutes - and you were "still in bed and half dressed at this point" ? Really?

Plus, you also state that the "delivery drivers are often a bit early". So you were expecting a delivery any second - and you were "still in bed and half dressed at this point".

Yep, you're being a "cranky old witch".

And FFS, don't complain to the supermarket!

Wow! Love it, thanks! I am also NMW and expected to work to time schedules Hmm

Life is hard enough. Don't make it harder. Why didn't you just buzz him in and shove a dressing gown on?

GirlInACountrySong · 10/01/2022 16:22

Retail is struggling massively

Running on less staff, staggered deliveries and shortages. Then there's the op moaning ' in the morning'

8.20 is half a day gone for some people. It's not exactly early! What is wrong with people?

redandwhite1 · 10/01/2022 16:23

Lol

An hour at 7.30 maybe but not 10 mins

However my drivers have always called ahead if they were going to be early

Frostine · 10/01/2022 16:23

I would be prepared to accept a delivery 15 mins each way . By that up and dressing half hour before .

GirlInACountrySong · 10/01/2022 16:24

Well op get on with your own 'time schedules' in Your job then. Let's hope you are perfect eh ?!

ancientgran · 10/01/2022 16:24

Maybe you need a nap. It is only ten minutes but I think the jumping out of bed and throwing clothes on is a bit unsettling so I understand but best to let it go, not worth the stress worrying about it.

PheasantsNest · 10/01/2022 16:24

You sound ridiculous. Get a grip.

cantgetmyheadroundit · 10/01/2022 16:25

I'm on NMW as well, but nobody would complain if I was early...

Stop making a fuss about nothing.

TabithaTittlemouse · 10/01/2022 16:25

Grin seriously?

SlashBeef · 10/01/2022 16:26

I hate people that treat delivery drivers like shit.

SultanOfSwing · 10/01/2022 16:26

YABU. If I am expecting a delivery at 8:30 I am dressed and ready by 8:15, absolute latest.

Also you are being unreasonable to want to lay in bed by 8.29, unless you are a hen, expecting an egg.

If you are expecting to get laid in bed before 8:29, that is, of course, another matter. But in that case probably wiser to book a later delivery.

TabithaTittlemouse · 10/01/2022 16:27

Btw if serious, do you really just roll out of bed and answer the door? I would want to at least dress and have a cup of tea first!

Thirtytimesround · 10/01/2022 16:28

Yanbu to be annoyed but yabvvu to consider telling tales to his employer.

Post-covid authoritarian ‘rules’ I’m seeing a real rise in “report it” culture. We’re not at school. If you had a problem with him it was up to you as an independent adult to tell him that he was out of line. Whining to his employer over him trying to get ahead of his schedule is nasty behaviour, especially when you have no idea what the consequences for him would be.

RedCandyApple · 10/01/2022 16:29

10 mins?! My Tesco’s order came an hour earlier than it was suppose to (neighbour saw them knock) when I wasnt in and then when I called costumer service he had lied and said he came at the right time and I wasn’t in so I missed my order as he took it all back. I don’t think you have anything to complain about tbh

MyComputerGetsSadWithoutMe · 10/01/2022 16:31

I think YABU

Idontevenknow · 10/01/2022 16:32

You also don't know that he buzzed another neighbour. At that time he could easily have been let in by someone going out the door for work.

I wouldn't complain, 10 mins is not a big deal.

5keletor · 10/01/2022 16:33

Even if he had arrived at 8.30, you'd likely still be rushing trying to get clothes on as you planned to stay in bed right up until the first possible minute you booked for your slot.
Definitely not something I'd report, and something Sainsburys would very likely just tell you has been "passed on to the relevant manager" to make you think it's being taken seriously.

Beautiful3 · 10/01/2022 16:33

It was only 10 minutes early. You are being massively unreasonable. Do not complain

DappledThings · 10/01/2022 16:34

@gillbillwill

I did want to lay in bed til 8.29, which is why I didn't book 8-9!
10 minutes either side of a delivery slot is totally acceptable and you would be daft not to factor the possibility of early arrival in.

And it's lie, not lay.

thismeansnothing · 10/01/2022 16:35

Damn right complain. You've picked a timeslot for a reason.

Why I work we are down scored for early deliveries.
