AIBU to complain to sainsburys about this?

Am I being a cranky old witch, mumsnet?

Today on a 8.30-9.30 food delivery slot the delivery driver buzzed to get into the building at 8.20 and 8.21. I was still in bed and half dressed at this point. As soon as the 8.20 buzz happened I got up and began pulling clothes on. By 8.22 I was opening my front door and he was there (I'm not sure how he got through the communal front door in the end, possibly also buzzed my neighbours?). He said 'I tried buzzing but nobody let me in' to which I responded 'yes because it's not 8.30' to which he appeared to not know what to say. (A mumbled apology)

The delivery drivers are often a bit early but always call me from the van out of courtesy to check it's okay to come up early.

AIBU number 1- AIBU to think it's not okay to turn up 10 mins early in the morning with a food delivery?

AIBU number 2- AIBU to complain to the supermarket on their online tool to ask their them to remind their drivers to be more considerate if they are turning up early, particularly in the morning? (I don't want anything out of this, genuinely do just want to not have them keep coming early. I picked 8.30-9.30 instead of 8-9 for a reason).

Yabu. Why on Earth where you still not dressed 10 minutes before your delivery was due!

Ginandcrispsarebliss · 10/01/2022 19:03

I wouldn't complain for being 10 minutes early.
I had an argos delivery on Sunday. Was told my package would arrive between 7am-6pm. I'm always up early but forgot to set my alarm. Missed the phone call to say they are 30 minutes away and woke up to banging on the door at 7am.
Opened the door and apologise for looking like something out of zombie apocalypse.
The guy was really sweet and said, sorry to wake you, you can go back to bed. I was grateful my furniture had arrived and said I appreciate the prompt delivery as I don't have to wait in. Felt sorry for guy having to look at me in my dressing gown but normally I would of been up and dressed.

GrannytoaUnicorn · 10/01/2022 19:03

Oh for goodness sake! How utterly ridiculous

I think this takes the top slot for most ridiculous thread of the week

Pegasushaswings · 10/01/2022 19:03

YABU, I’d probably expect them to wait if it was a 6-7 am slot but otherwise I’d be pleased they were early. Don’t get him into trouble for something like this!

WombatChocolate · 10/01/2022 19:04

The OP returned on p2 and acknowledged she had been cranky and was no longer contemplating complaining.

WombatChocolate · 10/01/2022 19:06

I answer the door to Tesco in my dressing gown. It takes about 3 minutes to unload and they are gone.
No one seems to care and I honestly am not interested in whether they are bothered or not. Perhaps I have low standards, but honestly, I’m perfectly decent and covered up and probably much more friendly and helpful to them than some of those who have put their faces on first.

sisuwasabellend · 10/01/2022 19:07

Do you want to work as a delivery driver for a day, OP? Just be happy that you're fortunate enough to have your groceries delivered at all.

maddy68 · 10/01/2022 19:07

If you complained about that you can bet you would be getting a shit Ton of substitutes and near sell by date food
Try being nice. Why on eart woyk you try to get someone into trouble for being ten minutes early?

GingerGloucester · 10/01/2022 19:07

YABU so much so I’m not sure if this is a genuine post?

Enough4me · 10/01/2022 19:10

The OP replied on page 2, has reflected and won't complain.

bg21 · 10/01/2022 19:12

omfg

WombatChocolate · 10/01/2022 19:14

AGAIN! OP responded, on p2 - acknowledged she was cranky and said wouldn’t complain. Does that satisfy everyone.

It’s fine to ask a Q and acknowledge one felt unreasonable and has listened to feedback and adjusted one’s view. 10 pages of further criticism are not needed.

5thHelena · 10/01/2022 19:15

You shouldn't have still been in bed at 8.20 still ( half ) asleep if the driver was possibly going to be on your doorstep in only 10 minutes. So yes you are being completely unreasonable. To even think about complaining is unbelievable to me Angry

thistimeofyear · 10/01/2022 19:16

Jesus! Are you for real! Get a life or a job - or better get a job as a delivery driver !

Blossomtoes · 10/01/2022 19:16

Jesus, just when you think you’ve seen it all. Shame there’s no poll.

HashtagShitShop · 10/01/2022 19:17

I once had an Iceland delivery booked for 9-10. He arrived 8.20am and drove off with my food delivery because I was in the shower at that time and had missed his call. I tried to ring back a few times on the number I'd missed the call on and he didn't answer so I rang the store and explained and they arranged for the delivery to come back later in the day when they could fit me in. It wasn't ideal and was inconvenient but still didn't complain as he was trying to get round and get to everyone and give himself a head start as Iceland apparently penalise for them returning back late to the store/over running delivery times according to the driver who arrived with it that afternoon.

WombatChocolate · 10/01/2022 19:18

AGAIN! OP replied on p2 having acknowledge she was grumpy and BU and said she wouldn’t be complaining.

It is fine to ask a Q and be open to the feedback.
All of us feel a bit unreasonable at times and if we think/ask before we act, surely a pile-on isn’t needed.

Rockbottom2910 · 10/01/2022 19:19

YABU. He was what 9 minutes earlier than scheduled slot and you were still in bed?!

Often they are ahead of time.

Obviously delivering hours early could be an issue but YABU over 10 minutes.

I can't believe you only roll out of bed literally just before your shop comes.

Momicrone · 10/01/2022 19:21

My only complaint with super market deliveries is the earlier deliveries waking up the street

WombatChocolate · 10/01/2022 19:23

OP has already acknowledged she felt grumpy and complaining snd being grumpy would be unreasonable. Move on….

Brigante9 · 10/01/2022 19:23

Yabu, it was 10 minutes, ffs!

Blossomtoes · 10/01/2022 19:24

@WombatChocolate

OP has already acknowledged she felt grumpy and complaining snd being grumpy would be unreasonable. Move on….
Oh do pipe down. Hide the thread if it offends you so much.
RachAnneKirl90 · 10/01/2022 19:24

You are an awful, self absorbed person.
You have no idea what it's like to do a job like that, the huge pressure they are under, how much they are checked up on and the multi-tasking they have to do, but you don't give a shit. You would be happy to complain to make your prissy little point. Honestly there are some fucking vile people on here.

WombatChocolate · 10/01/2022 19:24

What’s wrong with opening the door in dressing gown?

It’s hardly a silk neglige is it? Why any worse than a track suit or some rough old clothes that lots of people wear all the time?

WombatChocolate · 10/01/2022 19:25

OP returned on p2 to thank people for their comments and to say she’d taken it on board and realised she WAS being unreasonable wand wouldn’t complain.
