AIBU to complain to sainsburys about this?

Am I being a cranky old witch, mumsnet?

Today on a 8.30-9.30 food delivery slot the delivery driver buzzed to get into the building at 8.20 and 8.21. I was still in bed and half dressed at this point. As soon as the 8.20 buzz happened I got up and began pulling clothes on. By 8.22 I was opening my front door and he was there (I'm not sure how he got through the communal front door in the end, possibly also buzzed my neighbours?). He said 'I tried buzzing but nobody let me in' to which I responded 'yes because it's not 8.30' to which he appeared to not know what to say. (A mumbled apology)

The delivery drivers are often a bit early but always call me from the van out of courtesy to check it's okay to come up early.

AIBU number 1- AIBU to think it's not okay to turn up 10 mins early in the morning with a food delivery?

AIBU number 2- AIBU to complain to the supermarket on their online tool to ask their them to remind their drivers to be more considerate if they are turning up early, particularly in the morning? (I don't want anything out of this, genuinely do just want to not have them keep coming early. I picked 8.30-9.30 instead of 8-9 for a reason).

Another voice saying it was only 10 minutes. I couldn't get worked up about that.

Luckymummytoone · 10/01/2022 18:13

My delivery was 4.5 late the other day and I still didn’t complain 😅

Threewheeler1 · 10/01/2022 18:14

This is like a joke complaint in Viz from days of old.
It's seriously petty OP and a bit nasty to actually think about taking it further.

hangrylady · 10/01/2022 18:16

Talk about first world problems. Book it later next time and please don't be a dick and complain. Think about is this actually worth getting someone into trouble for. Ten minutes.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 10/01/2022 18:16

What did you want to happen if you complained?

In my job, the driver would have non serious offences noted on the record. 3 of them and they are pulled off route. This can result in lost eage, promotions denied, retraining for something so minor it want worth talking about in the first place.

So what did you want to happen?

BarefootHippieChick · 10/01/2022 18:18

Mard-life!!! I'm never going to be able to sing the correct lyrics again 🤣 I have Tesco delivery and they're more often than not early, which is great because it means the shopping is over and done with even quicker! I honestly can't imagine a world where I drag my lazy arse out of bed 1 minute before a possible delivery. Do you do that often OP, like when you have workmen due in or visitors?

Bangolads · 10/01/2022 18:19

Delivery drivers are integral to keeping the country running. It was 10 minutes and you should have been up in anticipation- obviously. You’re being ridiculous and pretty mean even considering complaining.

OverByYer · 10/01/2022 18:20

Get a grip.

DebbieHarrysCheekbones · 10/01/2022 18:20

I thought you were going to tell us all they turned up late and or were rude or sexually inappropriate creepy etc

Then I read your post
Get
A
Grip

Armychefbethebest · 10/01/2022 18:21

Get a grip !!!!!!! That is all poor bloke !!

Dutchesss · 10/01/2022 18:21

It's 10 minutes. You should have been ready. Book the 9 am slot if you don't get up until 8.30. I expect shopping to be anywhere between half an hour early to half an hour late.

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 10/01/2022 18:22

I deliver part time for a food company.

We get given time slots and loaded up and sent off.

No extra time is given for traffic or people taking a while to get to the door or even when we have to scale flights of flat stairs two or three times with ten bags etc.

We are often ten mins early and we buzz.

If they don't answer we wait or if someone lets us in it gives us more time to get the bags up stairs etc etc

Never have we ever had someone complain about being early.

We were once ten mins late due to an accident and we were detoured and got told off by the food company so you can't win Hmm

CoronaKidd · 10/01/2022 18:23

Stop being so precious. You should have been up at least 10 mins before the delivery time anyway.

GreenWheat · 10/01/2022 18:25

Good grief. It was ten mins early at 8.20am on a weekday morning. It's hardly 6am on a Sunday! If you want to lie in until 8.29am then book a 9-10am slot instead.

mogsrus · 10/01/2022 18:26

He arrived early sooo what’s the problem? Do you arrive early at places, & you knew he was expected so you should have been ready,

TheOccupier · 10/01/2022 18:27

I'd be annoyed too but I wouldn't complain to head office. It's just one of those things. Has happened to me before (also Sainsbury's) - they turned up 15 minutes early with a huge shop and rang the doorbell when I was just about to dish up supper to 3 very hungry children. I had planned for the delivery to arrive once the DCs were eating so I could put it all away while they were at the table! I was vexed.

bravermanclan · 10/01/2022 18:28

You're strange OP

GunnyDraper · 10/01/2022 18:29

I agree, turning up early and not calling before ringing the bell is wrong. At that time of the morning you could be on a school run and not back until 8.30am. I had this once with a 9am-10am delivery and they turned up 20 mins earlier. Difference is, he asked if I was OK.with that and I said I wasn't and he waited the 10 mins until I got back.

Fredstheteds · 10/01/2022 18:31

Mine give them due normally ring but I’m fine with them early. They are busy people.

HazelBite · 10/01/2022 18:35

The fact you are even contemplating complaining, is beyond belief Shock

RaginaPhalange · 10/01/2022 18:35

Yabu, get a grip!

FabriqueBelgique · 10/01/2022 18:36

I don’t think you’re as bad as everyone’s making out! I want my slot when I’ve booked my slot because I’m busy around those hours too.

It is annoying when they tell almost tell you off for not answering quick enough outside those hours. I don’t like being talked down to by men at the best of times!

diamondpony80 · 10/01/2022 18:36

Lol you were going to lie in bed until 8.29 - how precious! Delivery drivers go through a lot, out all hours in all kinds of weather. The most sorry I feel for them though is when they have to deal with people like this. Moaning, ungrateful people who would deliberately get them into trouble just for arriving a few minutes early. And yes, they do get into trouble if you report them, even though they’re just doing their job.

Azpil · 10/01/2022 18:39

You sound awful

PurpleRainlnTheSky · 10/01/2022 18:40

Yep, YABU! 10 minutes early. He was 10 minutes early! FFS @gillbillwill! Hmm

And why the fuck would you report this? Is this for real? Confused

You should have put a poll. It would have been 100% YABU!
