I know a lot who have said they think the story is quite weak

Oh, and I love how the characters clothes reflect their gifts/ strengths. Like Mirabel's clothes seem to contrast with Abuela's.

I love Encanto but 5 year old Mirabel's face when her door disappears is heartbreaking. She looks at her Abuela for reassurance and it never comes. Ever. I'd love a series to focus on all the characters more.

Watched the film for the first time today. Think the soundtrack was fantastic and so catchy! Might be worth a second viewing...

Love it. Seen it 3 times. Played the sound track on loop yesterday whilst cleaning out the garage.

Very average. They should not have got their powers back at the end. The house okay... But no powers. Surely it would be better for them to realise they are all valuable for their individual traits (if these had been promoted more in the story) and not their magical powers

This 100% surely it would have been a better message for kids that its ok to be normal and you don't have to have magical powers to be special.

It's brilliant. Daughter was Mirabel on WBD

Watched for first time last night. Loved all the colours and Colombian cultural references, and Mirabel is a great, charming heroine. Need to have another listen to the soundtrack as only the Bruno song immediately grabbed me.

Storywise, it could have done with a revamp to make it stronger. The elements were good but it didn't quite come together. Every plot point was resolved too quickly. And I didn't find the ending satisfying - thought either the magic should have left completely or the whole village could have gained magic. I don't get why magic was concentrated among this one family, and the non-magical villagers had to support them.

But as a mindless time-fill it was enjoyable, and I would quite like an anthropomorphic house.
