To ask what the hell to do about my leaking arse!

alittlebitembarrassing · 03/01/2022 22:25

Exactly as the title says. Very crass but it is a literal pain in my arse and I’m starting to feel very unwell.

Backstory: I have inflammatory bowel disease and have had my large intestine removed. I had a stoma for 10 months and then a reversal surgery joining my small intestine to my rectum. I have mild proctitis left in my rectum.

A week ago, my anus started itching and leaking fluid. It has been getting worse and worse to the point I am leaking through my underwear to my clothes, I am uncomfortably wet all of the time and it is so painful to go to the toilet that I almost vomit from the pain and am just living by having cold baths.

The leaking is mucous, I’ve developed wounds on my bum cheeks from the dampness, and it is mixed with blood and green pus.

I developed abdominal pain with it two days ago so went to A&E who were useless, have referred me to gastro (no idea how long that will take), and told me my infection markers are raised so gave me antibiotics. Nothing else.

Today I have been on off sleeping and am feeling feverish and unwell in myself. When I was at A&E my heart rate was 120 and my blood pressure was high, but they said they weren’t concerned.

I am leaking massively to the point it’s not even just damp it is like water is pouring out of me.

I don’t want to waste another 8 hours in A&E to be sent home, but I’m feeling unwell in myself now, I can’t go to the toilet properly because it absolutely kills.

What do I do?!

Dear @alittlebitembarrassing, I’ve been following your story with horror, and sincerely hope your silence means you are concentrating on recovery in hospital. Best wishes from Oz.

@alittlebitembarrassing
Please come back and tell us you are OK if you can. There are a lot of people out there worried about you.

Goldenphoenix · 09/01/2022 10:49

Haven't read the full thread so apologies of this has already been resolved. I have IBD and your situation sounds terrible. You must get back under a consultant asap, can you get referred urgently through your GP? Or just ring your old consultant's secretary, this is a super urgent situation, I would be so worried about this. You poor thing

annielouisa · 09/01/2022 14:56

Hope you are getting support you need OP

5YearsLeft · 09/01/2022 15:59

@Goldenphoenix OP was admitted to the hospital at 2am Tuesday and hasn’t been heard from since (which is why there are so many messages about people being worried, etc). I’m worried as well, though it does make sense to me, as if you read OP’s messages (you can just click “see all” to see just OP’s messages on the very first post), you can see she was feeling worse and worse, couldn’t even wait two hours for an ambulance by the end, said it was the worst she’d ever felt even though she’d had a perforated bowel, and was whisked into the back of the hospital in five minutes when she got there.

Obviously none of us can know, but based on what she said, it seems very likely she had sepsis or something very close to it, and judging by the sound of her bowel symptoms, may even have needed surgery. So she may still be in hospital or in her bed at home just barely starting to feel human again. Hopefully she’ll be back soon to tell us she’s okay. OP, if you see this, I do hope you’re feeling better soon.

Goldenphoenix · 09/01/2022 17:16

@5YearsLeft Oh blimey, that's such a worry, I do hope she's ok.

Thinking of you OP and sending positive thoughts

Wheresthebeach · 10/01/2022 09:20

Hope you're okay OP - home, eating ice cream, and having been taken seriously and treated properly.

Redeyed · 10/01/2022 14:24

I hope that the OP is ok.

However when I was recently in hospital I had no Wi-Fi at all, either that or they will still be recovering, not well enough to message etc.

Get well soon OP 🤗

Icouldabeenalawyer · 10/01/2022 20:16

Get well soon OP 💐

alittlebitembarrassing · 10/01/2022 21:00

Hello everyone, I’m so sorry that I haven’t commented, I’ve been resting. I’m doing okay and feeling a bit better and just taking things day by day, but I am home and have my family around me for support. I’ve been booked in to see my original surgeon and a referral has been made for me to be under the gastro team, it’s just a case of resting and waiting now.

Thank you to everyone for your kind messages and support, I really appreciate it xx
