At primary school, we sometimes used to have "cheese puffs" for dinner. I'm fairly certain they were just puff pastry and cheese but I can't replicate them. They were kind of like a cross between cake and a Yorkshire pudding inside, and looked like a scone.

Cant find a recipe that looks right on google. I'm aware they have no nutritional value but I really want to taste these again. Anyone else have a silly childhood food like this?

(And if you know what I'm talking about and have the recipe I'd be eternally grateful Wink)

@EmmaH2022

There was something called supermousse when I was little. I think it was stored in the freezer. No one seems to remember it. I think we had it once or twice, I loved it, my dad looked at the E numbers and decided not to buy it again!
We had supermousse Orange and lemon flavoured. It was a frozen dessert but quite soft. Think you could get chocolate and strawberry as well but I loved the orange and lemon.

Vesta Rissotto. The curry one you can get but not the risotto.

How sophisticated I felt back in the early 70s cooking that. Grin

@twominutesmore

Also Vespa/vesta (can't remember) ready meals. The curry had what were essentially Quavers sprinkled on top. Loved them.
It was the Chow Mein (Vesta) with the crispy noodles. Bloody loved it. I bought one the other year for nostalgia sake and it was still bloody lovely
Tillymintpolo · 02/01/2022 21:03

Ice magic, you poured it on ice cream and it went hard.

cobblers123 · 02/01/2022 21:04

Yes I remember the half and half lemon and orange mousse, Birds Eye I think. Loved them.

Mrsjayy · 02/01/2022 21:04

Boil in the bag codin butter sauce I loved that you can still buy it but the fish is the size of a postage stamp!

It was! I didn't realise you could still get it!

Baked Beans pizza! No one else ever remembers this :(

cobblers123 · 02/01/2022 21:10

My dad has mentioned Kunzle cakes recently they were cup cake sort of things with soft coloured butter icing and the cup cake shell was chocolate.

No one I've mentioned them to has known of them but I do have a vague memory my mum bought them and they were made by Lyons.

Willy wonka popping candy chocolate bars

Time40 · 02/01/2022 21:13

Oh god - Kunzle cakes! I would love to taste those again. They were a very original (and lovely) flavour. There is nothing else like them.

MinnieJackson · 02/01/2022 21:15

Cadbury marble bar

cobblers123 · 02/01/2022 21:16

Oh wow Time40, I can't believe someone else remembers them! Grin

Coffee crunch.

Came in a box in the baking aisle...biscuit crumbs to add butter to for the base and then a packet mix to whisk with milk for the topping...basically a coffee cheesecake type thing.

We used to have it regularly after Sunday dinner and on one occasion mum overchilled it and a guest dug in and sent a spoonful catapulting across the room Grin.

A lemon sorbet ice lolly. Must have been forty years ago. It had a soft sorbet middle and a lemon shell. Delicious

rc22 · 02/01/2022 21:20

Angel Delight
Wham bars
Highland toffee - can you still buy that north of the border? Has it just disappeared here in England?
Ice magic - chocolate sauce that you put on your ice cream that then set

cobblers123 · 02/01/2022 21:21

Milky Lunch bar. In my first job after leaving school used to meet my friend at lunch time in the local Wimpy for a horrible cheese and tomato roll and always bought one of these on the walk back to work.

Staywithmemyblood · 02/01/2022 21:21

Ooh yes - Vesta beef risotto and strawberry supermousse! What a meal! 😍

LadyMaid · 02/01/2022 21:23

@KohlaParasaurus

Macaroni cheese pies.
Yes! From Gregg's.

They were amazing.

They don't do them anymore.

@BrightYellowDaffodil

Heinz sandwich spread. I mean, it looked like vomit but it tasted amazing.
You can still buy it, it's still as lovely
Staywithmemyblood · 02/01/2022 21:25

Black cherry angel delight was another favourite - happy days! 😊

LadyMaid · 02/01/2022 21:26

The original Cadburys Time Out bars.

cobblers123 · 02/01/2022 21:27

Heinz tins of vegetable salad and potato salad. Absolutely my favourite part of Sunday afternoon teatime.

TheMagiciansNiece · 02/01/2022 21:28

Ginger cake with white lemon custard.

Toast toppers.

whatwasIgoingtosay · 02/01/2022 21:29

Shippams chicken paste in a little glass jar - spread on sandwiches. I loved it as a child, but guess I'd find it disgusting now. But I'd love to get hold of some Cremola Foam. It came in a little tin and you diluted a teaspoon in a glass of water and watched it foam up. Delicious! Simple pleasures before the advent of 'real' fizzy drinks.
