To hate the matching PJs trend

Alysskea · 28/12/2021 10:46

Every post on my social media and messages from friends has featured an entire family, usually of primarily grown adults, wearing matching Christmas pyjamas.

Where did this come from???? Why is it suddenly a thing??? Why do we all have to see the pictures?

OP posts:

Stop judging in your superior middle class way. Snobs.

It's far superior to judge others for judging!

LuckyAmy1986 · 28/12/2021 20:22

Do you just sit in your house on Christmas Eve with the curtains closed, putting on your five pairs of tartan reindeer PJs and chanting "one of us, one of us"?

Yes. Yes that’s exactly what we did

LuckyAmy1986 · 28/12/2021 20:25

@NutcrackerBuster ours were 100% cotton. Does that… make them ok? We will
Also wear them tear round. No one knows we are wearing them unless family call so no points being made. What’s to judge?

NutcrackerBuster · 28/12/2021 20:32

@LuckyAmy1986 If none of that applies to you, why do you think I'm talking about you?

IWantMoreStationery · 28/12/2021 20:37

NutcrackerBuster

How perfect you are.

Humbugok · 28/12/2021 20:41

Yep OP I agree. They are beggy begs living for likes and attention on the socials.

Humbugok · 28/12/2021 20:42

@Puremule

Total cringe. All for the picture perfect social media shot. Merry Christmas from The Kelly’s!!!! 143 photo’s later…we have a winner! Post this one! Everyone looks cheesily happy all at the same time. Ughhh false as fuck.

I just don't understand why people want to spend all day in their pyjamas .
Stinky crotches and armpits all round and all food spills get taken back to bed.!

FangsForTheMemory · 28/12/2021 20:45
@clarepetal I'm with you. Why do we have to take in the Americans baggage?
I don't want the American health care system, their horrible chlorinated chicken, their chocolate full of god-knows-what or any other of their horrible food.

I don't give a flying fuck about matching pyjamas.

Humbugok · 28/12/2021 20:45

@sussexlife

In case this hasn't already been posted
Hahaha
LuckyAmy1986 · 28/12/2021 20:45

@NutcrackerBuster I’m making the point that what you are judging people for may not actually be the case.

LuckyAmy1986 · 28/12/2021 20:47

@DroopyClematis stinky crotch? Ew, get it seen to maybe

Not me dear… I have a shower in the morning and wear day clothes. My comment was aimed at those who live in pyjamas. Of which there seem to be many, these days.

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 28/12/2021 20:55

Hate it - completely wasteful.

I read my FIL's Tory rag newspaper today though and there was an interesting article about how SM and media in general influenced purchasing behaviours... boiler suits due to Squid Game, corsets and wisteria due to Bridgerton, eBay purchases due to Cop 26 etc.

Livpool · 28/12/2021 20:56

I think it is cute - but if you hate it then don't do it?

BoredZelda · 28/12/2021 20:57

It doesn’t have to be a wasteful activity but am fairly sure it is for the local families I know that do it.

What a spiteful thing to say. Do you have family matching judgey pants?

BoredZelda · 28/12/2021 20:59

I’m wearing pyjamas today. And will again tomorrow. I don’t sleep in them, it’s no different to wearing any other clothes each day.

HiJenny35 · 28/12/2021 21:14

I find most the people who hate these things are jealous of people who enjoy it and too lazy to make the effort. Exactly like elf on a shelf, if you can't be bothered to do it good for you but stop moaning about the people who can and the kids who enjoy it. If you don't like seeing post then scroll past. With the amount of the racist, sexist, antivax posts on sm you're concerning yourself with people who like Christmas pyjamas, maybe rethink your priorities.

PlanktonsComputerWife · 28/12/2021 21:17

But if you enjoy wearing lame pyjamas, and I enjoy rolling my eyes at you... surely everyone's happy?

deleteasappropriate · 28/12/2021 21:21

I don't think it's a trend - my daughter was doing matching pjs with her kids ten years ago and we love seeing them every year. This year it includes her granddaughter for the first time - it's lovely to see!

snapsieplopp · 28/12/2021 21:22

and yet your concerning yourself with people who don't like Christmas pyjamas....

MaryShelley1818 · 28/12/2021 21:23

I absolutely LOVE matchy matchy Christmas Pyjamas. 🎄
It made my little boy (just turned 4) ridiculously happy and excited to be wearing the same pjs as Mammy, Daddy and his baby sister. And making my small children happy at Christmas is what it's all about for us at Christmas, certainly above caring what someone on SM thinks.

LifesABotch · 28/12/2021 21:36

YANBU Xmas Grin

Stellaris22 · 28/12/2021 22:13

too lazy to make the effort

Don't equate not wanting to put mass produced rubbish in landfill with being lazy. I find other ways to enjoy Christmas, nothing lazier than clicking 'add to basket'.

Some people do reuse pyjamas throughout the year, but I've seen enough threads on MN to realise those aren't the majority.

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 28/12/2021 22:43

I don’t like it either, and I DO think it’s wasteful.
