Daily Fail and Duchess of Sussex

Just saw this half way down the home page of the Daily Mail. Clearly it’s a part of the settlement agreed after Meghan’s success in the courts.

This isn’t a thread about Meghan, it’s more the Daily Mail trying to hide this in their homepage and so trying to bring attention to it!

It was an interesting case because in English law you cannot take a substantial part (which means important not necessarily long) of someone's copyright work unless you have permission or some other exception applies (unless you send something for publication eg write a letter to the newspaper to be published).

They didn't take all the letter but they copied enough to breach copyright in the UK.

As for MM as people say we don't know her. I think it is a pity she has not returned to acting but that is her choice or they could have settled in the UK with Harry in some kind of army role, a quiet life in the country in the UK. However MM has lied eg she said she married 3 days before the royal wedding on the Oprah interview. It was astounding and she would have rehearsed, thought about it and perhaps even have had right to edit it but she chose to allow the lie to be left in there. She could have said we promised to love each other forever in front of the Archbishop before we married. Instead she said they were married before the Royal wedding. She didn't say - I think we had this earlier marriage or I need to check the UK legal position but I think we did.

@amicissimma

It must be an amazing paper, The Daily Mail. It can apparently get its articles into people's heads without them actually reading it!
Astonishing isn't it
BringBackThinEyebrows · 27/12/2021 10:33

@Roussette

Some vile insults overnight I see... I can only presume some posters have been on the sauce.

What I don't understand is...
there are a couple of celebs/famous people I am really not keen on. They irritate me. I do my best to avoid seeing or reading about them. I see threads on here occasionally about them . The most I would do is idly have a read of a few posts, then avoid the threads. More often than not, I wouldn't even open the thread.

Yet there are posters here who are intent in spewing out vitriolic hate and name calling about this couple they don't know. And then insulting anyone who doesn't agree with them. Weird. Not in a million years would I open up a thread of someone I dislike and type a stream of insults. I can only presume it gives them a high and makes them feel good to do this, which is a bit sad really.

And yet you clicked on a thread about ar William and Kate and posted 'Honestly?!' in response to someone's comment that Kate is a classy and down to earth lady.
TheKeatingFive · 27/12/2021 10:50

Interesting to see you post Xenia. I was under the impression that legally there wasn't much ambiguity, it was clearly against the law. Presumably all the wanted from the trial was to try to trash her rep as much as possible while going down?

sst1234 · 27/12/2021 11:08

It’s interesting that members of Meghan and Harry fanclub are so mature that they can’t see why two celebrities would be unpopular. What is your obsessions with these two celebrities that you are arguing with strangers online and defending two people you don’t know. Is it because you are warriors for justice for celebrities. Did you also fly ‘free Britney’ banners? Maybe even ‘free Deirdre’ ones once upon a time.
She’s a liar, as she has shown herself to be on more than one occasion. He basically sat there and trashed his father is because he wouldn’t give him any money. A man in his 30s launched an attach on his family because they wouldn’t give him money to live like a Hollywood star. If that’s not ridiculous, not sure what is. These are very weird people. They are so into self publicity, it’s unreal. They took his grandma’s nickname without her consent to name their daughter. Let’s not be naive, it wasn’t because they liked the name. Who does that. Trash your family publicly but then steal Granny’s name. Simply to keep milking the royal connection for as long you can.

So you know their family dynamic and relationships personally do you? Or are you basing on what you’ve read in the media?

Urgh this is getting old. Maybe, just maybe they had a personal ceremony before the actual wedding, and they see that as the real date they got married on? Just as many people from different faiths will have a ceremony which marries them in their eyes of their God, and then a civil wedding for the formalities, but see the religious wedding as their wedding date.

@BringBackThinEyebrows

Haha.... one word 'Honestly' ... I posted three weeks ago is equivalent to the insults on here ... liar, migrain, a divy, a 2nd rate actress and so on. Of course she's not 'down to earth', she lives a life that is so far removed from down to earth.... 'honestly?' is very apt.

You sound a little invested in me and what I post if you can recall one word from three weeks ago, that I posted. It's a tad weird. I haven't a clue what you post except what I read in current time.

sst1234 it works both ways. What's your obsession with knocking them?

That’s exactly it, hence why it didn’t proceed to full trial, as there was no reasonable prospect of success for the DM. They only wanted the trial to use it as another weapon to attack her with.

I have an excellent memory but actually it's easy to re-read threads on here. Personally, I think ar Kate does come across as down to earth and classy. Did it give you a high and make you feel good (as you describe) to put her down?

Roussette · 27/12/2021 11:49

You are making me laugh now. So that was the very worst you could find that I have posted about Kate Middleton!! Hilarious! Such an insult! I hang my head in total shame! Thank you for bringing it to my attention, I am beating myself with birch twigs as I type lol

Have you researched the rest of my posts for the famous people I'm not keen on that I don't insult? Grin You might have a problem with that as you don't know who they are because I swerve threads about them!

If I was to type a list of the vile words and names written about MM for years now... I would honestly still be typing a week next Tuesday!

BringBackThinEyebrows · 27/12/2021 12:01

@Roussette I didn't search for your posts. I was just browsing the thread about ar Kate and William.

I recognise your username after I asked for an opinion from Prince Harry fans and you stepped up.

Roussette · 27/12/2021 12:03

I didn't search for your posts

That's a relief

🤣🤣🤣

This exchange has been funny! One poster clearly coming across much better than the other and the other doesn’t realise how silly she sounds!

Staffy1 · 27/12/2021 15:01

@Roussette

How do you know why they hate her (if they do) because she is black? Have they told you that? If not, you couldn’t know the reason for their supposed hatred. Most of the articles trashing her were by Piers Morgan who has a personal vendetta, as he does with anyone who he thinks slights him

Because it's obvious. And no, most articles were not by Piers Morgan. Once there was once 27 articles about them in a 24 hour period in the Fail. Morgan didn't write them all, there's plenty of other reporters to dish out the vile stuff.

There are plenty of reasons for disliking someone, or even just knowing what gets the clicks. Princess Diana got slaughtered until she died then suddenly they changed their tune and gushed about her. I remember thinking they must be wondering how they would fill their pages after her death because there were usually about 10 pages dedicated to trashing her every day.
Baggingarea · 27/12/2021 15:17

Controversial hot take here.

I think hazza failed to prepare MM for royal life and made her paranoid about the media. A lot of this mess is down to him, not MM.

By god he is so lacking in self awareness. It does make me cringe that he doesn't seem to realise that people liked him because he was a royal - not because he was inherently talented or interesting. And complaining he was cut off by Charles when he gave him £20m is just mind boggling. In my eyes he is just a spoilt child.

A separate point but ironically they have basically turned into royal commentators - exactly the people they claim to despise.

UserBot99 · 27/12/2021 15:27

@bagginarea, truth in that. The men in grey suits protected him from how flawed and ordinary he is. He thought that that stifled him and restricted him. He had no idea that it elevated him.

Well, he can be himself all he wants now but when there's no spin, we see him for the very ordinary person he is.

BringBackThinEyebrows · 27/12/2021 15:31

@Becles

I think it's fascinating that because of the case William has been proven to be aware / behind a lot of the leaks and negative Palace briefings against Meghan.

Where's the evidence for this? I haven't seen anything reported about it.

Roussette · 27/12/2021 15:35

And complaining he was cut off by Charles when he gave him £20m

I've never heard that before, have you a source for that?

'Low life'. Grin

You do understand that you are insignificant to those you are championing.

I suspect that may be lost on you though.

Ohwhere2021 · 27/12/2021 16:27

@whenthedoveslie

No I just have better things to do than trash people I don’t know and who will never know who I am on an anonymous forum. It is the work of low-life people.

Baggingarea · 27/12/2021 16:28

@Roussette apologies - correction it was less bit still in the millions (dare I link the Daily Mail?? Here's the Indy instead) www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/prince-harry-meghan-markle-charles-finances-b1871723.html%3famp

The $20 million figure came from his book advance. Apologies all - my mistake! But the rest I stand by.

And yet here you are, calling people "low lifes' because their opinions differ from yours - over people YOU DO NOT KNOW.

Bless you.

Baggingarea · 27/12/2021 17:34
