to ask how much wine you’d buy in this situation

NB - this is a LIGHTHEARTED thread

DH went to do the Christmas food shop today. I told him what I needed for the pudding and said ‘can you get a fair bit of wine as I want a drink tonight, tomorrow and we need for Christmas Day’.

On CD we’re having PIL. So 4 adults. FIL will have one glass of bubbles. MIL, DH and I all drink but not to excess.

I like a drink but don’t drink masses or that but I do like it and DH drinks rarely.

Given this information how much sparkling wine would you buy?

As reminder sparkling wine for:

Me tonight
Me tomorrow
4 adults on CD

Once I’ve had a few answers I’ll divulge how many DH bought.

I bought 2,of cremant in the petrol station, that's just for me bt we already have a usual stock of plenty of everything at home anyway, dont u and wdnt u want some left over too?

Just asked my hubby and he’s said 16!

My DH would have bought 2 bottles - because he's an idiot 😂

6 wine, 1 champagne.

I always put half a bottle of wine in my Xmas gravy.

I had my booze delivery last weekend and drank it all! So have had to replace. Have 3 bottles of prosecco, a bottle of champagne,one red and a bottle of Baileys. I have asked my friend who is coming for xmas dinner to bring gin(she wont as she stingy)

I'm late but I asked my husband to buy wine the other day , he got 5 white, 2 red, 4 Prosecco !! He also got 3 crates of cider and a bottle of tiki rum ! I knew there was a reason I loved him most days 😂

I have done this before 😂 Trick is never to order it to early .

Probably 2 bubbly and 2 of other wine for with dinner etc

I’d buy at least 8.

If you drank Prosecco last night and tonight, that’s 2 bottles minimum. I find Prosecco doesn’t keep in the fridge overnight, even with the proper bottle stoppers.

That leaves 6 for Christmas Day and I’d rather have too much than run out.

Well, we had 22 bottles of wine and two gin liqueurs from Aldi delivered this week, we already have a bottle of fizz and I bought another one. We are 5 adults but just three really drink. This is for the whole Christmas and New Years period. This doesn't include the beers, gin and baileys we also bought. I hope it won't all be drunk and we will have some for the start of the new year.

10 at least other LTB! But 3 bottles of Prosecco just about covers breakfast toasts on Christmas Day!

I would also get 12, always rather have more than not enough. Nothing like having a good time and running out!

Ok. I’ve had my first bottle. Feel pleasantly tipsy.

I should add I’ve had an absolutely shocking few months. I’ve had two bouts of bronchitis, my two bits have had colds, Norovirus and then a non specific virus - they haven’t both been at school together for more than two days since half term.

Oh and I had such bad sciatica begat I posted here for advice (which was invaluable).

Frankly I think I’m lucky I don’t have a substance abuse problem.

You don't need to justify yourself having a bit of a booze up at Christmas. It's the law.

Ran to Co-op at 5 - thank Christ they had a bag.

If he’s left parsnips off I’d have packed my bags.

Mini bottles are a jolly little thing you have out of an advent calendar as a warm up to the main evening's drinking

How long does an open bottle of port last?

Did you ask him what he'd got for the guests ? 😆

Fortunately DH always over purchases booze so we have stacks of it
