Boris. Would everyone love him if he was not blonde?

Looking at our current PM, it occurred to me that he might not be so appealing to us if he had dark hair? Would he be viewed as a possible case of self neglect requiring assistance rather than the bouncy Labrador he is seen as?

@JaniieJones - You haven't seen that from me however I feel. And they are two completely different things. There is a deep seated visceral hatred of Johnson in this country based entirely on how he has performed and how he behaves. Brexit is a big part of it, the lies on the bus, the antagonising of our nearest neighbours, lying about an oven ready deal, threatening peace in N Ireland, throwing farmers and fisheries to the wolves whilst gaslighting us with tiny little inconsequential trade wins. Lamb to the US anyone? How big is the US lamb market? I could go on. And then there's COVID. Of course it's unprecedented but by anyone's standards his 'leadership' has been shambolic. He has failed to turn up to how many Cobra meetings now? Too busy with his chaotic private life and his book. Many will trumpet the generous financial support doled out. In reality it isn't as good as many European countries, he had no choice. And it's our money. In the meantime a footballer had to force him to feed hungry children, £20 a week was taken from the poorest in society and Food Banks continue to grow at an exponential rate. Tory donors have of course grown even richer with our money and no one really knows what we have to show for all those PPE contracts and the 37 billion spent on Track and Trace. We could talk about his careless use of language, his casual racism, misogyny and homophobia. Or his rule breaking. Or his addressing the CBI with a Peppa Pig story because he was so ill prepared. The rest of the World is laughing at us, but worse nobody trusts us any more because he breaks promises, treaties so casually. His careless language as Foreign Secretary means that a British National is still languishing in jail in Iran, separated from her family, her small daughter separated from her mother.

But you think all of this is the same as calling another politician by a different name. Ok.

SueSaid · 23/12/2021 21:38

'Again I will say, he's the PM, not a past PM, not Leader of the Opp. He's answerable. End of'

I know who he is. Just trying to work out the rulez. We can be 'playground' about the PM but not the leader of the opposition. Got it Grin.

ilovesooty · 23/12/2021 21:40

Got it

I don't think you have, but never mind. Hmm

BestZebbie · 23/12/2021 21:43
  1. I’m not convinced he even still has blonde hair in the way that he used to, it looks increasingly white - and I think very scruffy white hair starts looking less ‘terribly busy’ and more ‘possible start of dementia’ so he may have to buy a comb or more likely, dye it forever.

  2. Doesn’t he love Churchill? And didn’t Churchill apparently buy a white horse specifically to stand out so he got noticed against all the brown ones?

HikingforScenery · 23/12/2021 21:46

I find dark hair more endearing and more attractive so I don’t get the block argument. Your post sounds kind it jumped out of done white supremacy or pure blood advert, I’m afraid.

Roussette · 23/12/2021 22:00

Got it

Do hope so!

FuckingFabulous · 23/12/2021 22:48

@MasterBeth

He’s a nasty cunt, blond or not.
Hahahaha!! This really tickled me
Loveinacoldishclimate · 23/12/2021 23:20

@luckylavender 👏

A non- exhaustive list but it’s a good start.

SueSaid · 24/12/2021 08:28

'I think very scruffy white hair starts looking less ‘terribly busy’ and more ‘possible start of dementia'

Ah hair colour and style can denote the start of dementia. Who knew!

luckylavender · 24/12/2021 09:01

@Loveinacoldishclimate - plenty more where that came from! Merry Christmas!

RoyalFamilyFan · 24/12/2021 09:10

@JaniieJones I hate Boris Johnson because of what he has done to our country and my life. The hate is entirely justified.

llanfairfechan24 · 24/12/2021 09:13

I do not believe in the death penalty. The sole reason why I want Boris Johnson to still be alive.

Roussette · 24/12/2021 09:25

I could cope with Johnson looking like he sleeps in a hedge if he could do the job. He can't.

I could cope with Johnson if his hair defined him and he played on that, if he couldn't do the job very well but he had good people round him. He doesn't.

Without competent people and a PM who exists on buffoonery, soundbites and bluster... we're buggered.

I could go on... but I won't.

SueSaid · 24/12/2021 09:54

Dearie me.

I like Johnson because he stuck to freedom day in July despite hysterical opposition from Sir Keith. It was the right decision, no?

I like Johnson because he got us a tariff free trade deal, I know brexit is old news but still.

I also like him because he has been cautious regarding omicron which again was the right decision. Look at how Sturgeon and drakeford have overreacted.

We were so lucky he was in charge and we had the massive swift booster roll out.

Now please stop with the death comments for goodness sake Xmas Confused

ilovesooty · 24/12/2021 10:38

'Hysterical opposition' - oh dear.
Still trying to be big and clever, I see.

RoyalFamilyFan · 24/12/2021 10:48

Peoples lives are being badly affected every day by Boris Johnson. So it is hardly surprising some people hate him. I haven't hated a politician since Margaret Thatcher. I have disliked some or thought they were bad at their job, or disagreed with them, but Boris Johnson is not only negatively affecting so many peoples lives, he is also a corrupt liar who plays the clown. He has no morals at all.

ilovesooty · 24/12/2021 11:07

He's also totally irresponsible and incapable of long term vision. The ill advised easing of restrictions in July that he stated were irreversible, encouraging the press to label the date as Freedom Day is an example. No wonder so many now know he's a liar and won't comply with mask wearing - let alone his "however many weeks to flatten the curve" bollocks.

I can't put it any better than this
Pralinelatte · 24/12/2021 12:46

@5128gap

I think expectations of blond people are subconciously different due to the association with childhood and innocence. I seem to recall studies where people have picked photos of blonds when asked who looks like the most fun. The image Johnson has cultivated sits well with this, less serious, a laugh, harmless, charmingly naive and trustworthy. All nonsense of course but yes OP, I think his hair colour helps him by triggering subconscious associations for some.
I agree. Can't stand the man personally but if I think back to his media appearances, such as hosting Have I Got News For You, he came across just as you suggest - a sort of bouncy, lovable, funny, slightly roguish posh chap, and yes, trustworthy. All an image of course, like his jolly-chap-false-name 'Boris' and deliberately ruffled blonde hair, which hid his underlying character of deceit and incompetence from the many folks who voted him into power.
Pralinelatte · 24/12/2021 12:51

Johnson deliberately messes his hair up before public appearances. There are photos of him in his early 20s with combed, tidy hair - his hair isn't untameable and he is perfectly capable of presenting himself differently. Maybe ruffling his hair makes him seem like a more approachable politician? Whatever the reason he does this, it's done deliberately before he appears in public.

Samcro · 24/12/2021 13:16

he is a wanker. his hair colour is imaterial.

Roussette · 24/12/2021 13:58

Nailed it there @Samcro Xmas Grin

GrimDamnFanjo · 24/12/2021 18:21

@KloppKrazy

Now Jürgen is a leader.
With you there!
neverbeenskiing · 24/12/2021 18:38

This is such an odd thread. I don't know a single person who "loves" him and couldn't give a shiny shit about the colour of his hair. I doubt anyone else does, regardless of their political leanings. He's a proven liar, a cheat, a racist, a homophobe, a coward, an arrogant, entitled, self-serving opportunist and he presides over a Government who have shown nothing but contempt for the electorate, contempt for our NHS and other public services, contempt for the poor, the disabled and the vulnerable, and time and again have prioritised lining their own pockets and that of their city chums and millionaire donors over saving lives. I loathe Boris Johnson and everything he stands for with a passion, and anyone who is even remotely invested in his hair needs to get their priorities in order.

User135644 · 24/12/2021 18:45

No, I still think everyone would love him anyway. He's just got that mass appeal. The Tories could never have dreamed of winning some of the seats they did without Boris.
