Looking at our current PM, it occurred to me that he might not be so appealing to us if he had dark hair? Would he be viewed as a possible case of self neglect requiring assistance rather than the bouncy Labrador he is seen as?

Lots of defensive comments here...the question is interesting though, I do sometimes wonder if there much research about people being subconsciously affected by appearance? Blonde ruffled hair and not bald at his age - can potentially add childish charm, because there are not that many grown ups with this intensely blond hair.

I think you only need to compare how Boris is treated compared to someone like Diane Abbott MP.

She makes a slight error on a live radio show and is vilified in the press as incompetent and unqualified. Boris spends his whole career bumbling from one crisis to another, never accepting responsibility, and showing complete disdain for the public. Yes somehow barely suffers any press censure.

One is a black woman, the other a posh white man with (awful) blond hair.

The most unbelievable aspect of Boris Johnson's appeal is that tories who continue to support him often say ' He is doing a good job; I don't think we could do any better'. In no other sphere of life do people say this. E.g. Doctor misdiagnoses someone - Oh he is trying really hard and I couldn't diagnose someone' Hairdresser having cut off one side of your hair only - Oh I couldn't do a hair cut so I think he is doing a good job. Our standards are ridiculously low. Either that or many people are completely delusional.

You've not had a loved one in hospital in the last six months have you? They have never returned to anything like normal. Thousands have died without their loved ones being able to visit them.

I can understand your point op. I think blonde bias is a thing. If he were bald or even dark haired, his whole fake ‘loveable buffoon’ thing wouldn’t have been such a factor in why people, initially at first, seemed charmed by him. His presence oh Have I Got News for You was a part of this.

He messes it up on purpose, colleagues saw him do it pre going on stage at an event.
