For those of you who still have grandparents alive! How old are you?

Or how old were you when they passed?

I was 16 when my granparents from mom’s side died.

And somewhere in my 20’s when from dad’s side passed.
Although we weren’t in touch at all, not sure why.

I don’t know why I ask, I guess I just realised that I wasn’t around older generation much.

I'm 33 and am so lucky to have all 4 of mine ❤️

Tiredmum122 · 15/12/2021 19:35

I am 45 with a 106 year old Granny and a 101 year old Grandad. I do realise that this is unusual!

Kitkatchunkyplease · 15/12/2021 19:37

My daughter is 3 and only has 1 grandparent left ! Amazing to see grandparents of over 100. I'd lost all mine by the time I was 9.

tigerbread11 · 15/12/2021 19:44

I'm 33 with one alive and one who passed when I was 20.

Soosiesoo · 15/12/2021 19:45

36 and one gp left, who is 83

Edinvillian · 15/12/2021 19:49

I'm 44 with an 88 year old granny and 91 year old granda on my mums side. Both my paternal grandparents are dead, one before I was born and one about 10 years ago.

Angliski · 15/12/2021 19:55

43

Hereslookingatyoukid · 15/12/2021 20:00

I'm 38 and have both grandmothers - both are 88!

MummyMe87 · 15/12/2021 20:02

I was about 10 when my great grandma died. I am about to turn 35, and I have an 88yr old grandma (dads side) and 82 and 84 yr old grandparents (mams side)

Disneydatknee88 · 15/12/2021 20:05

I'm 32. My last surviving grandparent is my nan who turns 90 in a few weeks. Her husband died when I was 12, my other grandad died when I was 14. I lost my other nan when I was 25.

doadeer · 15/12/2021 20:06

I'm nearly 32 and have two grandma's living. They are great grandma's to three children.

icedcoffees · 15/12/2021 20:08

My last grandparent died when I was 21, but they were all in their nineties.

pigsDOfly · 15/12/2021 20:09

If the next generation do the same, grandparents will be close to 80 when their grandchildren are born

Yes, this is what's happened in my family. My children are in their late 30s and early 40s and they're having their children now - one due in January.

I'm in my early 70s and my exh, my children's father, is in his mid 80s.

Sew3stitch · 15/12/2021 20:10

I'm 33 and very lucky to still have 3 grandparents with us.

Maverickess · 15/12/2021 20:18

My last grandparent died this year, not long before I turned 42. She was my step grandmother but technically old enough to be my real grandmother and was to me.
My paternal grandma died when I was 35, she was the last surviving 'blood' grandparent. My maternal grandad was the first grandparent I lost at 18, I do feel lucky I had all of them as long as I did.

Crabwoman · 15/12/2021 20:20

I am 38 and have two grandma's still alive. They are both 78+

AdditionalCharacter · 15/12/2021 20:23

I only have my Nana alive now, she's only 40 years older than me though, so plenty of life left in her yet I hope.

Both mY grandads died when I was a toddler, my other Nana when I was 15.

BeautifulBirds · 15/12/2021 20:31

Great grandparents (mums side) died in my early twenties, I have such special memories of them both as I was stayed many weekends) they were late 80s/90s. I have a paternal grandad, who is 90 odd, and maternal nan who is 80 odd. I'm late 30s.

BelleNoir · 15/12/2021 20:34

I'm 46 and my nan is 96

Scubadivinginabox · 15/12/2021 20:37

I'm 48 and still have both my maternal grandparents. They are 98 and 96 and my nan still cooks Sunday lunch for the family when they visit! My mum is in her 70s and still has both her parents. We feel very lucky to have them, and that they both have all their marbles!

user38764345 · 15/12/2021 20:39

I am 29 and still have 3 x grandparents & Step-grandad alive x

Nc123 · 15/12/2021 20:39

Oh I’m envious of all these people with grandparents.

My mums dad died when I was 6. Mums mum when I was 15. They were 73 when I was born - Both mum and I are the youngest in the families - so I was lucky to have them as long as I did, I guess. I absolutely adored my grandad and named my youngest after him. He was the kindest, bravest man I’ve ever met.

My dads side is slightly more complex as he was adopted by his paternal grandparents, who died before i was born. His birth dad died when I was 26 and his birth mum died when I was 33. No grandparents for me!

MrsJBaptiste · 15/12/2021 20:42

My Grandpa died last year.

I was 45 and he was 101 🥺

HeronLanyon · 15/12/2021 20:42

By 27 I had none living. From 7 I lived in a different continent and saw them maybe every 5 - 7 years. No internet or face time. All handwritten letters with photos and timed calls as so expensive. !

anon51 · 15/12/2021 20:43

I'm 36, my last surviving grandparent is 87
