The Christmas dinner or the steak, chips and onion rings. Straight of the bat, which is more appealing?

To me it’s the steak..wondering whether to break with tradition and have this on Christmas Day, first time in my 44 years on earth. Don’t know why that feels so weird fo do! Don’t even like Christmas dinner that much, do you?

I could even go Mexican or curry 😋 all nicer than the Christmas meal

We didn't have turkey for Christmas growing up (we usually had lamb which I don't like) but I've fallen in love with the turkey Christmas dinner as an adult, largely because the leftover sandwiches the next day are probably my favourite meal of the year...

TheSoapyFrog · 15/12/2021 09:56

Steak is always more appealing to me. I did have steak one year when I was on my own. I had lots of wine and watched horror films.
Now I have a family I stick to the traditional Christmas Dinner, except we don't have turkey because nobody likes it.

mogsrus · 15/12/2021 10:03

That’s why we’ve been going out for 20 yrs on Christmas Day, take a day off _ absolutely relax for the whole day, can’t be beat

KatherineJaneway · 15/12/2021 10:07

Would go for the Christmas dinner. It's badly plated in the photos but I am not a steak eater really.

Floralnomad · 15/12/2021 10:09

I don’t eat steak , but we have a choice of meat on Christmas Day . The photo of the roast in the first post looks disgusting so I wouldn’t eat that - my roast dinners look lovely .

emmetgirl · 15/12/2021 10:10

Steak - but I'd still like to have sprouts and parsnips too!

fournonblondes · 15/12/2021 10:14

Looks delicious! 😋

InTheLabyrinth · 15/12/2021 10:14

Right know?Steak.
25 Dec, Turkey, because part of Christmas is all the dishes that come after that, and are rarely cooked the rest of the year we had mini Christmas Dinner last weekend because DH is travelling now, and it was fab with chicken but that means no leftovers

fournonblondes · 15/12/2021 10:15

Steak 😋

Twopenny · 15/12/2021 10:15

Christmas dinner, every time. A super fancy roast dinner with all the sides and trimmings, and heaps of gravy? Perfect.

Steak is nice, but that particular plate looks like it would be really dry to champ through; tons of fat chips and onion rings that are all batter. And there'd be no bubble and squeak for the next day, which doesn't bear thinking about.

Rexthesnail · 15/12/2021 10:18

Minus the Turkey, the Christmas Dinner!

Justwhy123 · 15/12/2021 10:19

Christmas dinner every time!

Anyone who says turkey is too dry isn’t cooking it properly Wink

VestaTilley · 15/12/2021 10:20

The Christmas dinner, every time. If you make delicious stuffing and cook your turkey and ham properly so they’re moist and flavoursome they’re delicious. I love all the trimmings too.

Steak at home never tastes as good as at a restaurant, so I wouldn’t want that for Christmas Day.

TheOriginalEmu · 15/12/2021 10:21

I have beef with my Christmas dinner and it’s my favourite thing in the world Grin

FangsForTheMemory · 15/12/2021 10:22

I've have the traditional Christmas dinner if I could swap the turkey for something else, even chicken. Turkey is horrible.

Medinae · 15/12/2021 10:23

I'll take Christmas Dinner (with the steak on my birthday!)

UltraVividLament · 15/12/2021 10:37

The Christmas dinner (a vegetarian version) rather than steak and chips (or maybe halloumi and chips for a vegetarian version) any day. The chips, onion rings, grilled tomatoes etc are all perfectly tasty but you can have them any time of year for any meal.

crochetmonkey74 · 15/12/2021 10:40

We are having a buffet with all the best bits of Christmas Dinner - stuffing balls, PiBs and cranberry sauce as well as all the normal buffet stuff

godmum56 · 15/12/2021 10:42

I like steak but that steak meal looks horrible.....

WWTBCD · 15/12/2021 10:42

The steak looks nicer than that Christmas meal but I'll be doing a rib of beef, really lovely veg sides etc and not dry turkey and gross bread sauce and Brussel sprouts!

Row1n · 15/12/2021 10:43

Always the proper roast for us, much prefer that any day over steak anyway

Weirdlynormal · 15/12/2021 10:43

That Xmas dinner doesn't cut it. It's missing spiced red cabbage, stuffing roll, dauphinoise potatoes, peas and a rogue yorkshire pud!

As a kid we had a large mixed grill for Xmas day and then big turkey dinner on boxing day at my grandmas. We loved doing both.

santabetterwashhishands · 15/12/2021 10:44

Oooh no I absolutely love a Christmas dinner 😋

strawberrymilk7 · 15/12/2021 10:44

Christmas dinner 100% My favourite is the ham

CluelessAt50 · 15/12/2021 10:46

Love a nice steak but definitely the turkey for me. We (eldest son & I) make a Christmas dinner 4 times a year because we all love it.
