I wasn't feeling sorry for her.

SueSaid · 09/12/2021 11:23

I just can't understand why she'd be so stupid. We've probably all commented inappropriately at work in the staff room or via group chats but you'd be horrified if these comments were made public.

This was in a media room, she knew it was being recorded! Not like the cctv mole leaked it. The fact people in government can be so absolutely reckless and thick is very alarming.

Walkingthedog46 · 09/12/2021 11:24

Does anyone know who leaked the video?

Tulipomania · 09/12/2021 11:29

Apparently she was always expected to leave after her job at COP26 was done. Which is is.

So this is effectively a fake resignation to take the heat off BoJo and Carrie.

CovidMakesThingsHard · 09/12/2021 11:29

She probably think a 2 bed flat means each bedroom has enough room for a giant bed, 3 piece suite, free stand bath and not realising the second bedroom was probably big enough for a single bed and no other furniture.

Florianus · 09/12/2021 11:31

@twilightermummy

I’m so pleased that you posted this as, I too, was feeling sorry for her.

It does piss me off that a woman is paying for this though. I want to know who it was in that crowd in the video. I’ve heard on one of the morning chatshows that perhaps Jacob Reece Mogg was there? They all need to fuck off in all honesty. They are a nasty party and there’s hardly anybody in the cabinet that I see fit to take over BJ.

I think Kier needs replacing too whilst I’m on a rant as he should have wiped the floor with them on this. Angela Raynor would have done much better I’m sure.

Simon Case, the Cabinet Secretary, shouldn't find it hard to ascertain who was there. I doubt that Rees-Mogg turned up, though - it is said to have been a party for No.10 staff (civil servants and the like), not for politicians.
GattioAnyone · 09/12/2021 11:31

Yes the room size reckoner in her head will likely be calibrated differently.

GattioAnyone · 09/12/2021 11:32

Everyone thinks they are normal.

HangingDitch · 09/12/2021 11:32

Why would anyone feel sorry for her? Because she blubbed when she made her statement? To be honest, if you can’t hold it together, don’t read out your statement.

GattioAnyone · 09/12/2021 11:34

It's human nature that a big proportion of us feel really sorry when someone's upset.
I've got it bad but had to train myself out of it for self protection from the sharks of life.

TrashyPanda · 09/12/2021 11:37

@twelly

I understand the outrage and how people's deeply upsetting family/friend experience mean they feel deeply hurt by what she said at the rehearsal recording but many that is not a sackable offence. In addition she did not make the law or cause deaths. I think its important to focus upon the key issues and this is a sideshow.
She wasn’t sacked

It is central because it shows BJ, and govt he leads in a true light. As in they don’t give a shit as long as they are ok. The rules only apply to us little people.

Gastonia · 09/12/2021 11:44

I feel a bit sorry for her Blush The interview is from 2012, so I feel it's a bit lame to drag that up, and nothing more recent.

She's also someone who's really ambitious, and her career has been eased by her connections. It must be a huge shock to take a job for which you are evidently unsuited, then end up in a political storm, when you didn't even attend the party, while the young man who appeared in the video seems unscathed. I actually felt she was laughing awkwardly in the video, because she was embarrassed.

Anyway, I didn't vote Tory, and feel embarrassed myself to be led by such dangerous entitled idiots. But I do feel sorry for AS, even though her life experiences are very different from my own. I guess I'll feel less sorry for her when she gets her next helping hand into another well paid job, though Smile

Florianus · 09/12/2021 11:46

@Onlinedilema

She is the scapegoat. A party was held at Boris Johnson's house. 2 options either he didn't know (really? It's his house ffs) Or he was there and fully aware. The man is a self entitled twat with no regard for the common person. None of this government give one single fuck about anyone else. They don't care about you or I. I've watched a clip of Rees Mogg talking at a party laughing and joking. He should go. Aww well as long as people keep voting them in they will carry on like this.
Boris Johnson does not live at No.10 - he and Carrie live in the expensively refurbished flat at the top of No.11. There is no particular reason that he would have known that a staff party was taking place next door - No.10 is (despite its modest frontage) an enormous complex of dozens of rooms, formed in the 18th century by combining three large properties (the one at the back being the size of a mansion).
IVFNewbie · 09/12/2021 11:46

Don't like her and the recent debacle re. the party is horrendous but in the video posted she makes some good points.

GattioAnyone · 09/12/2021 11:47

She is looking uncomfortable as the role she is practising for requires her to answer questions assuredly. They were helping her practice her role not picking on her.

Peregrina · 09/12/2021 11:48

I am not going to buy that argument - if she is really ambitious, she should have had enough sense to know not to take a job for which she knew she was unsuited.

GattioAnyone · 09/12/2021 11:50

Well yes.

BoredZelda · 09/12/2021 11:52

My view is at least as reliable.

Except it actually isn’t.

HangingDitch · 09/12/2021 11:53

The thing that utterly mystifies me is why, when the party allegation was first made, they didn’t just say “yes it happened, it was a few colleagues having drinks at the end of the working day, it absolutely should not have happened, was an error of judgment and we apologise”. If they’d done that it’d be yesterday’s news by now surely? Aren’t they surrounded by communications professionals who would have recommended that approach?

GattioAnyone · 09/12/2021 11:53

🤷

Pigeoninthehouse · 09/12/2021 11:55

@CovidMakesThingsHard

I don't think they care how big the room is, they just don't give a toss about poor people. The next question would have been, but park benches can seat upto 3 people, why don't you go and live there.
VestaTilley · 09/12/2021 11:56

Agree. I was a bit yesterday, then I saw the Private Eye piece about how she behaved in the newsroom, what she said about poor families and how she was determined to paint the single Mum she interviewed in a bad light, and I thought “good, I’m glad she’s got her comeuppance”.

Beseen22 · 09/12/2021 11:59

Living with mummy and daddy in a posh 6 bed house with attached annex for grown up layabouts until your 'dream job' is handed to you is entirely different to what I would imagine is this young lady's reality of living in a 2 bed overcrowded flat with mum, potentially dad/step dad, her child and potentially more siblings.

Children of the wealthy would often be given space and no digs/rent money to accumulate their monthly salary and then given a nice gifted deposit to buy their first property. This woman is just looking to rent a flat and if her employer refuses to pay a living wage for the area she lives and works in then her situation would never improve to a level where she can afford to rent there without housing benefit top up. Allegra's whole line of question is a moot point that she cannot understand because she's never lived that life.

Oncebittentwice · 09/12/2021 12:01

Dreadful woman speaking in judgment from her ivory tower of privilege with a wonderful view of these “entitled plebs.” Let them all sleep in boxes!

Caliexpidocioussuper · 09/12/2021 12:03

It’s just so unbelievable that someone can be so out of touch with real life. She was handed a private education on a plate. She did nothing to earn it except be born. The roles could just as easily be reversed. Absolute arse hat.
