@Sceptre86.

Agree she’s a scapegoat but her career isn’t screwed at all, neither is her exceptionally wealthy and privileged lifestyle.

So glad this happened to her but definitely unfair that it’s only her…as pp have said, she was swimming with sharks who will protect themselves and their preferred mates.

@OldaRailer

Housing benefit benefits landlords.🤷
Absolutely housing benefit should be removed it funds the mortgages of BTL landlords and actually raises rents by setting a higher supporting base level.

That's said the UK benefits system is far too generous. Choosing to have a child therefore be entitled to higher housing benefit should not be something the state has to pay for. There seems to be a lot of responsibility on the state to provide despite others own freely entered into decisions.

Anyway not mourning her departure but if she genuinely didn't go to the party I'm not really sure why she needed to go. The only ones in difficulty here are the ones attending the party (assuming it cannot be described as a business dinner meeting for team building which was allowed).

No I don't feel sorry for her.
I'm angry that all the Tory blokes have, as has been said "hung her out to dry" - but if you're going to hang out with that appalling boys' club, then you have to accept that you'll be the first to be dropped when things go pear-shaped.

Still don't feel sorry for her though.

@Joystir59

Journalists for sure knew about this party at the time and may well have been present. None of them have resigned. BBC I am looking at you Wink
This is one of the most worrying aspects of all of this and has allowed Boris to get away (so far) with murder. Johnson and Gove, as former journalists, have fingers in all sorts of media pies, as does Rees-Mogg of course whose father was editor of the Times from 1967 to 1981. The media have all been exceptionally kind and forgiving of them and have ignored Starmer & Co who generally don't get a look in. Democracy at its finest! Hmm

She wax moved sideways from one highly paid job that she proved useless at to another that she proved useless at. She should have been gone well before that hideo appeared. Having said that, there should be a lot more scalps on the pile so clearly they hoped sacrificing her would deflect attention. I hope it hasn't worked, it will be our fault if we let it.

@Mouseonmychair

Could you expand on how the benefits for poor people are far too generous?

One thing for sure, her next career move will not be acting. She would be hopeless at it. Sniff sniff, crocodiile tears, sniff sniff.

I just want to know why the others in the room, especially the guy asking the question and training her to lie and laughing, are still in their jobs. Also the people at the parties. And the serial liar and piss taker Bozo.

Because they haven't resigned. Hopefully heads will roll when it is investigated (but with this lot who knows) she decided not to go through that and went.

If you're on £10 or £15k a month hanging on probably seems worth it unless you are married to some rich bloke and aren't worried about such trivia.

@ladygindiva it is such a wonderful phrase and I regularly use it since hearing it many years ago 😄 Better if you say 'shite a backwards hedgehog'. It really paints an image of the message you want to get across.
