Will Johnson be gone before Christmas or after?

Sarahlou63 · 07/12/2021 22:38

I'm thinking the 1922 committee grandees will run out of patience fairly soon. So will Johnson stand aside to be a better parent before Christmas or will he continue to drag his party into the shit into 2022?

YABU - hangs on for grim death

YANBU - Who the fuck is Johnson?

"Gender self-ID would abolish all women’s single-sex spaces and services. Not just toilets and changing rooms but also clinics, hospital wards, rape crisis centres etc would be open to any man who wants to stroll in. I am more frightened of that than of another Tory government."

Remind me on whose watch Gender Self-ID has become such an issue, and question why they have not done more to stop it in its tracks if they are so pro-women.

BoredZelda · 08/12/2021 14:49

The majority didn't vote Tory last time round, so youre taking nonsense.

There has rarely been an election in the U.K. where the majority of people voted for the party who won? According to Commons library, there were a couple of elections between the world wars where it was just over 50% but in no other election in 100 years, has a party been voted in by the majority of the electorate.

OhWhyNot · 08/12/2021 15:04

Thatchers down fall was the Poll Tax

This will deeply upset many people but Johnson can pass the buck sack a few people to make himself look better

Thatcher refused to engage in any talks about the poll tax it was purely on her it was going ahead end of

This isn’t the same at all he can place the blame elsewhere

RedWingBoots · 08/12/2021 19:45

@Poetrypatty

Nice of him to blame junior staff at Number 10. Wonder if that will come back and bite him

It's a desperate strategy isn't it. He's banking on every single one of them not getting pissed off and blowing the whistle.

What when he forces people to resign and they take the government/civil service to an ET?
madisonbridges · 09/12/2021 01:25

@theDudesmummy

I left the because of the f*ing Tories and Brexit. So glad I did. You can say Boris is toast (he must be at some stage) but they are all of the same bloody ilk (well, some are more stupid that others, but all are wicked).
I just don't understand that people think it's ok to post nonsensical and offensive things like this. How were Jo Cox and David Amess wicked?
madisonbridges · 09/12/2021 01:29

Its not as if Germany has done badly with a bland leader for the last 167 years.

Um, I don't think all the leaders over the past 167 years have been bland!

Kennykenkencat · 09/12/2021 10:29

SmellyOldOwls

It isn't about a party, it is about corruption in our government

Then why talk about a Christmas party when you mean corruption.

The problem you have is that it is on every news channel every day and it is wearing very thin and all they can talk about is a Christmas party.
Turned on tv last night and the news was talking about it. Came down to the news programme this morning and they were talking about it.
Even James Nesbit was looking seriously wtf when his piece on UNICEF was hijacked to talk about it.
Whatever impact it had in the beginning has been lost.
It has become a meme

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/12/2021 12:17

The party is a symptom of the Tory party's contempt for the ordinary people and of the corruption within the party, in my view, @Kennykenkencat.

While most of us were obeying the rules, not seeing the people we loved, not having parties, No 10 was having a big party. And now they are lying through their teeth about it - repeatedly.

It's the lying that I find worst - if they'd held their hands up, admitted there had been a party, and apologised, I could have had some respect for that - but it feels like they think we are stupid.

theDudesmummy · 09/12/2021 12:48

Jo Cox was most certainly. not a Tory. I continue to have the greatest contempt for any Tory, alive or dead. I did not always feel as vitriolic, but now I do.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 09/12/2021 13:09

Johnson will hang on for a while yet but he won’t lead them into the next general election, whenever that is.

funnelfanjo · 09/12/2021 13:28

Remember all the outrage over Cummings and Barnard Castle? He learnt from that that if you hang on long enough, the storm will pass and he can carry on again.

This is a man who has been sacked from previous jobs for lying and falsification - it was well publicised and yet the British public saw fit to elect the Tories with him in charge. We've got what we voted for and what we deserved.

Anyone who things that a former Director of Public Prosecutions doesn't have more judgement, integrity and organisational skills than the current PM needs to re-examine their critical skills.

I predict that within the next few days he will say 'it's time to draw a line under this and focus on beating Covid together' or some such bollocks.

He will, SKY did a straw poll in Blyth, most people said he doing his best/it was year ago/focus on today/media storm/who hasn't broken the rules/..but labour would be worse.

We've 6m waiting for hospital treatment, people dying in Ambulances, if that doesn't make people turn against the Tories......

the80sweregreat · 09/12/2021 13:41

I honestly believe that nothing will turn people against the conservatives
I have heard too many muttering about ' dark forces 'and how the media have it in for him
People don't like Sir Keir or the Labour Party or their values and they know that this will blow over , eventually.
If there was an election soon , they would still win it.
It's how it is where I live , anyway :(

Sorry, I misread it as you thought all mps were wicked. So I'll deleteJo Cox and ask how you think David Amess was wicked. No great detail, just a quick outline of his wickedness.

So the NHS is run by Labour in Wales.

Starmer has been a great disappointment and as for Raynor can anyone see her on the world stage.

Kenny is right. Its correct to have an investigation but wall to wall news??

Anyone Sex in the City is back tonight. Cannot wait...

Lol I have it on series link but do you think it will disappoint ?🤣🤣

That's very much happening here - in wales where NHS running was passed to senedd - where Labour has been main party in power for over 20 years.

I don't like the Tories but all the posts about how great or how impoved things like NHS will be with Labour in charge do make me wonder why anyone would post that.

theDudesmummy · 09/12/2021 14:20

I am sorry but I would classify anyone who chooses to support the Tories in any way shape or form as at the very least least being uncaring about how truly wicked the party is. I have lost "friends"(relationships unmourned) over this belief. I have moved to another country permanantly because of it and its ramifications. I have protested and lain down in the streets of central London and stopped traffic because of it, on more than one occasion.

theDudesmummy · 09/12/2021 14:22

NHS mental health services were measurably very much better under Labour. I can assure you this is true. I worked in them for years undere Labour and for years under the Tories.

julieca · 09/12/2021 14:27

I have an ongoing health condition. Under Labour when I had relapse I got seen the next day by a consultant and weekly hospital visits. Under Conservatives seen by a nurse eventually and monthly visits. The nurses didn't know enough and if I hadn't learned a lot about my condition already I would have not gotten the treatment I needed.
Some of you act on here as if we are comparing based on newspaper articles when we know how things have changed.
Labour was not perfect, but the Tories have run the NHS into the ground.

inferiorCatSlave · 09/12/2021 14:29

In Wales - becuase news reports aren't giving me that idea.

Under New Labour - last Labour Government I remember I could well belive that - but currrent Labour party isn't New Labour any more.

julieca · 09/12/2021 14:30

And the Tories cut a lot of mental health services when they came into power. And reduced money for services like day centres. We had local mental health day centres run by local NHS where I live. All long gone. They catered for severely mentally ill people. Now if you are severely mentally ill you get a short visit once or twice a day by the crisis team - sorry but they are nursing staff who are totally out of their depth and are just visiting to check the person has not totally lost touch with reality and a danger. Bloody awful.

longwayoff · 09/12/2021 14:32

By election next Thursday in true blue N Shropshire, always a Tory shoo in. Like Bexley, where the 19,000 majority went to 4,000 last week. Before the current kerfuffle. If he loses it, he's a goner although he might keep Chequers for Christmas.

Afreshstart2021 · 09/12/2021 14:38

The thing is, he’s really popular. Just not with everyone posting on this thread. But people really like him and vote for him. He’s not going anywhere.
Starmer is utterly useless.
