With no ear defenders, surrounded by a crowd of people, in this December weather?
She always says he still wakes her up at night.. but has no bedtime routine and then does stuff like this!?

In my book that is very wrong, won't be gone till gone 10pm!!

FWIW I actually agree with you but to post about it online to strangers is a bit nasty

Bunnycat101 · 07/12/2021 22:05

It’s not something I’d have ever dreamed of doing and mine would have hated being kept up. I’d have not wanted to have a small baby at match exit either which is often not a particularly pleasant time let’s be honest.

Branleuse · 07/12/2021 22:06

I dont think its bad enough to give it much thought. Whats the big deal?

Starcaller · 07/12/2021 22:07

Not sure I'd really give it much thought! Babies don't turn into pumpkins if they aren't in bed by 7pm.

Ostryga · 07/12/2021 22:09

Dd is nearly 5 and I make her wear war defenders to the fireworks Blush I have fucked my hearing from too much loud music so am a bit obsessed with it.

I wouldn’t take a baby anywhere loud without ear defenders. The rest I can’t get worked up about, a football match is great fun!

QuiltedHippo · 07/12/2021 22:09

YABU and pretty inflexible, how dull to live your life by a bedtime routine. Babies aren't biologically designed to sleep through the night so might as well make the most of it. And it's not like an indoor stadium so noise won't be deafening

I took mine to a summer sporting event, though they did have ear defenders so maybe thats OK by your book

Ostryga · 07/12/2021 22:09

Christ, EAR defenders

stuckinsouthafrica · 07/12/2021 22:10

You do you

Leftbutcameback · 07/12/2021 22:11

I’ve seen quite a few babies taken to football and they all seem fine. It is very cold sitting there during a night game in December so that would be my biggest concern. Our club is not that loud, very safe and family friendly, lots of space.

Skyll · 07/12/2021 22:11

I get ear defenders in noisy situations but to a sporting event? Not all sporting events are noisy?

evangeline12 · 07/12/2021 22:13

do you also realise not all babies have a bedtime? no matter what i try and how early i try it, my 8mo refuses to sleep until 10/11. if your baby doesn’t sleep and doesn’t care about routines then might as well do what you want

lliitttlepiinkhouse · 07/12/2021 22:14

I wouldn't do it, not in this weather. But the mother is doing nothing wrong providing them baby is wrapped up warm. Yabu.

DivorcedAndDelighted · 07/12/2021 22:16

YABU. I go to football matches regularly and tbh they're not so loud that they're going to damage the baby's ears. It's not like motor racing! And bedtime routines aren't some sort of religious requirement. Plenty of families find a flexible routine works well for them. Babies have to fit in, and adults deserve a life.

Badyboo · 07/12/2021 22:16

I miss the portable baby days. You'd disapprove even more of me, DS was out at a wedding until midnight around that age.

Better that for us than obsessing about needing to be home at 6 for bedtime and wearing headphones to watch TV after. Horses for courses, eh?

ThePurpleOctopus · 07/12/2021 22:16

I wish I could have taken mine at 10 months, but by that point both my DDs were crawling loads and almost walking. They'd have hated not being able to crawl/cruise around.

Before they were movers though, they each regularly joined me at football matches. Snuggled up against me in the sling they were cosy and warm. Kind of wish that stage had lasted longer.

Also, I worked so hard to do bedtime routines with my two and they've both been the shittest sleepers possible. With hindsight, I should have said fuck it, and done more things like your friend is doing.

Your friend sounds fun.

ChudraWouldaShouldya · 07/12/2021 22:16

This is definitely a you do you type of situation!

I’m glad you’re not my friend!

MuthaHubbard · 07/12/2021 22:17

yabu
Ear defenders:- front of Slipknot concert = yes. Few blokes shouting 'Ref are you blind/offside/get up you snowflake' = no

esloquehay · 07/12/2021 22:17

Ear defenders at a game?! It's not like the kid's ears are next to a dub sound system's speakers...🤦🤦🤦
Apart from that, your post is suppurating with judgement.

Movingsoon21 · 07/12/2021 22:17

OP it’s judgmental opinions like yours that contribute to so many mums having post-natal depression. YABVU and seriously nasty to someone you call a friend.

Your friend sounds like great fun, you sound like an utter drag.

Tee20x · 07/12/2021 22:19

Ok and.... my 11 month old has just fallen asleep & will sleep until 9.30 tomorrow morning. Still gets enough sleep for her age.

Sorry to break it to you that not all babies are 7-7 angels :)

FictionalCharacter · 07/12/2021 22:20

He doesn’t need ear defenders at a football match. I used to go to Premier League matches at a large stadium and no way was it loud enough to damage hearing.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 07/12/2021 22:23

We kept DS up late if it was an occasion

RubyFakeLips · 07/12/2021 22:24

Not all babies have a bed time routine and this isn't necessarily why the baby doesn't sleep well.

If you're SO concerned about baby's sleep offer to babysit.

A well wrapped up baby will probably happily nod off in this weather.

Rewis · 07/12/2021 22:28

Genuine question. Why does 10month old need a bedtime routine and why does it mean that a baby has to be asleep by 10pm? Can't the routine be that night sleep starts at 4am?

Ear dedenders might be needed or not, depends on the game. A lot of babies nap in the snow during winter so as long as they are wearing enough clothing the baby should be fine.

I fully agree with this.
