Would you still come to my wedding?

It's this Friday.

We're fully paid etc and desperate to go ahead. Have asked guests to lateral flow beforehand. 96 guests confirmed.

Worried people will think we're mad for pushing on given all the Covid news.

YABU - people secretly won't want to come
YANBU - go ahead and enjoy

If it was closer to christmas I’d make an excuse to get out of it. I have a party night on 18th and I’ve just had to have a pcr due to going out for lunch with someone who turned out to have covid. Results took ages and it was two days out my life I’ll never get back. Couldn’t go to my Christmas Day out with friends we do every year because the results weren’t back. The whole thing was just a faff but luckily I’m negative anyway! If that was to happen after my party night on 18th or worse still, test positive then I’d end up spending Christmas Day isolating alone so I don’t think it would be worth it to go to a party night or wedding for that. Given its this week I think most people will still come 😊 some may just be a cautious. Hope you have a good time and everyone turns up!

I’d totally come and I have literally just had my wedding this past Saturday (4th December) and nobody dropped out apart from someone who actually had covid! Also it will still be the best day of your life no matter what, I promise!

me4real · 06/12/2021 20:05

I don’t understan why people have to be this selfish.

@Yeswhatno I've had the jabs and booster. I'm not going to self-impose more restrictions before we have to.

Dyra · 06/12/2021 20:05

Time and location? I'm supposed to be getting my hair done that day, but what's a few white hairs between Mumsnet strangers?

VirusgonnaVirus · 06/12/2021 20:06

Why would people attend but not dance? Is it the singing?

Last year if it was allowed I wouldn't have, this year with vaccs I'd be there in a heartbeat. I'm going to catch covid sooner or later, would rather catch it when I was having fun than in the cleaning aisle in Tesco.

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 06/12/2021 20:06

I definitely would. Congratulations!

SivvyPlath · 06/12/2021 20:06

@Yeswhatno

No.

I don’t understan why people have to be this selfish.

Is it selfish to get married? Who knew!
VirusgonnaVirus · 06/12/2021 20:07

Most importantly have a fabulous day. Can you tell us anything about it?

NowEvenBetter · 06/12/2021 20:08

Nope, but I’d have been reluctant anyway, December weddings are a pretty big ask of guests-most people are skint, have a million social obligations and are full of germs. But this thread shows loads of people love that.

Chickpea22 · 06/12/2021 20:08

Yes I absolutely would. Have a wonderful, wonderful day xxx

Icantrememberthenameoftheartis · 06/12/2021 20:09

I would come.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Hadjab · 06/12/2021 20:09

@Yeswhatno

No.

I don’t understan why people have to be this selfish.

I don’t understand why people have to be this miserable?
Viviennemary · 06/12/2021 20:09

Probably not. With so many people. Especially if they were coming from all parts of the country.

christmaskittenincoming · 06/12/2021 20:10

Absolutely yes!

I hope you have a fabulous day Smile

ColourMeExhausted · 06/12/2021 20:14

I'm there! Veggie option please and I'll be happy with a place at the embarrassing relatives table Grin

In all seriousness, I'd to go to a wedding. Friends have cancelled weddings due to covid over the past two years and I really miss them. As long as people know the risks, take a lateral flow and wear masks when needed, I can't see that being an issue for the people who are well enough to go (unless they are CV of course).

But as PP say, prepare for some cancellations, sadly. Hopefully not too many though. Sure you will have a fabulous day, congratulations!

notanothertakeaway · 06/12/2021 20:14

So close to Christmas, I'd be concerned about contracting Covid and spoiling Christmas plans

Marriage and a meal, yes

I'd be less keen on loud music, dancing, people shouting to be heard and breathing all over me

Tigerblue · 06/12/2021 20:16

I'd have probably been a no in the first place due to covid, but actually I'd find it more reassuring if others were doing LFTs beforehand.

Hope you enjoy your day.

OhGiveUp · 06/12/2021 20:17

Absolutely. Just give me a minute to order a new hat 👍😁
Have a fab day OP.

shreddies · 06/12/2021 20:18

I would yes. I'm being a bit more careful than I was and wouldn't for example go to the cinema at the moment but I would definitely come to your wedding!

SmellyOldOwls · 06/12/2021 20:19

@NowEvenBetter

I know I do Grin

notanotherschoolrun · 06/12/2021 20:21

I would! Good luck for your wedding Friday, I'm getting married on Thursday! Hoping for good weather Grin

InTheMiddle23 · 06/12/2021 20:22

Absolutely I'd be there

Fredstheteds · 06/12/2021 20:23

Sensible - I think everyone would understand

InTheMiddle23 · 06/12/2021 20:23

Thank you to all those who would go - from many hospitality staff
