Just been kicked out of a group for objecting to being referred to as my reproductive organs

Group on Facebook. I was referred to as a “uterus owner”. I objected to this. I’m now banned from the group for being transphobic. Everyone piled on me and if I wasn’t kicked out I would have been leaving anyway. I don’t care what other people want to be called but I will not be referred to as my reproductive organs!! It’s not transphobic to want to be referred to as a woman if you were in fact born female and wish to remain a woman? surely?? Or AIBU?

@Wobblyhousehunt I called it in my post. Be kind or you’ll be called a TERF. And there you are! You tired your oh be kind I know an amazing little princess (reinforcing gender stereotypes much?) and then when everyone didn’t do as you say out you come calling women who care about women TERFs. So transparent!

@Wobblyhousehunt

Many of these posts show that this post is not about language it’s pure predjudice towards a vulnerable group of people. Try and mask it as AIBU but much of this is hatred. Why do you need someone to hate? You are turning decent people away from feminism.
It’s not bloody prejudice to take offence at being referred to by your reproductive parts!! I have the right to identify as a WOMAN. I don’t care what others identify as but I also have the right to identify in the way that I choose!! Why can’t you see that??

Stop trying so hard. If your point was a valid one you wouldn't have to couch it in such emotive terms. Youwould just be able to say what you mean.

But you to use those value laden words... and we all see them and think "why?"

No one has said they hate trans people. That's pure hyperbole.

You haven't addressed the issues raised - prisons, sports, rape crisis centres. How is anyone hating trans people by wanting to keep these things single sex?

Should vulnerable women just budge up? Where is your kindness towards them?

cabingirl · 30/11/2021 18:32

@Physnicall

I saw a nutritionist refer to ‘women with wombs’ rather than plain Women on Facebook yesterday. The first comment was like wtf. But I guess that they are trying to avoid the angry puritans
But that could potentially be useful if you needed to reach those with wombs rather than those who had had a hysterectomy for example?

I mean if you needed to talk about something womb specific.

MushMonster · 30/11/2021 18:32

Will just ignore all these new terms and keep talking as normal work? Or are we past that by now?
I have not yet found anyone saying this BS in RL, but if they do try, I will just go with, sorry what? I do not understand.
Because it is not in the dictionary! Is it?
I am just not going to answer by any of those. Woman and mother are good to me. End of.

MushMonster · 30/11/2021 18:34

And just to clarify, I would not have any problem addressing anyone trans as woman or man, whichever they identify as.
But I am not calling them non cis or any other.

Feminism is for women not men who identify as women.

Feminists put the needs of women and girls first.

You are not a feminist.

Exactly. Why should they have the right to be called what they want, but WOMEN cannot have the right to be called women?

Bet the GF 'wobblywotsits' has no answer to that.

Why would you want to have anything to do with them?

How many points missed and subverted in such a short sentence?

Brava!

SingItToWinIt · 30/11/2021 18:38

I don't hate trans people. I hope they have long happy lives and find some peace.

It doesn't change the fact that you can't change your sex - and anyone born with a penis is male. And should be treated as such where the SEXES are put into separate groups.

Wobblyhousehunt · 30/11/2021 18:38

Really telling that kindness is scorned up on. And when your all shouting about your facts, here’s mine … trans people exist. No matter what you say they exist and there are a great many people who stand by them.

Lokdok · 30/11/2021 18:38

@Gerlais

An iron deficiency group!

I’m so shocked that women are literally being silenced like this. I knew things were getting bad (the trans body builder saga) etc but I never realised it was that bad that you will literally be hounded for wanting to be referred to as a woman. It’s bloody ridiculous, I’m fuming!

I would have put forward the hysterectomy argument had they not kicked me out as soon as I objected to the terminology

I was about to say it's ridiculous to talk about 'uterus owners' meaning biological women since some don't own uteruses any more, but actually in the context of iron deficiency it makes sense so YABU. Progesterone producers would have been even more useful, but it's just accurate to have a term to exclude cis women without uteruses and trans women in this context.
Waitwhat23 · 30/11/2021 18:40

@cabingirl if additional language is used (I.e woman and...), I would welcome that.

It isn't what's happening though. The word woman has been removed. That isn't inclusive.

And using the names for body parts to refer to a group of people excludes those people who do not know that word, what is refers to etc etc. Again, not inclusive. And dehumanising to boot.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 30/11/2021 18:41

Oh my goodness. We're back to GC women denying trans identified people the right to exist!

How 2018 of you.

And you are making the assumption that no other poster here knows of, is friends or colleagues with, family members of any trans identified individuals. How silly!

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 30/11/2021 18:41

If 1 in 5 women is subjected to attempted or completed rape during her life, that's 20% of women. If 10% of rape victims are suicidal, that's 2% of the female population from that cause alone.

This may go some way towards explaining why women attempt suicide at double the rate of men, IIRC

Notahandmaid · 30/11/2021 18:42

I peaked when Munroe Bergdorf objected to women 'centering reproductive systems' at a women's march in 2018.

And then again when I saw campaigners against FGM getting attacked for using 'exclusionary' language. Women and girls are burned, attacked with acid, aborted, thrown onto rubbish heaps, have their vulvas cut off with rusty razors, are sold as 'hunger brides' in some countries. Every time a baby is found on a rubbish heap or in a drain (China) I always know what sex is it.

This is why I think it's all madness. Does anyone stop to think how the foetus identifies before it's aborted? Or do they stop to think how a female baby identifies before she's thrown on a rubbish heap? Does anyone stop to think how those little girls might identify when they are older before they are sold as 'hunger brides'?

No - everyone knows what sex they are.

I am sorry for those with gender dysphoria but it feels a very Western luxury to be able to complain if you are misgendered as a trans or non binary person.

DownWhichOfLate · 30/11/2021 18:44

Well, of course they exist. No one said they didn’t. If they didn’t feminists wouldn’t have to fight for women’s rights.

And where is your kindness to vulnerable women? You seem to be saying that they should just shut up and budge up.
DownWhichOfLate · 30/11/2021 18:45

Actually, I take that back. Feminists would still need to fight. But not to keep men out of their safe spaces.
