Mcdonalds breakfast

Aibu that you can't beat a McDonald's breakfast? Especially after a 13 hour night shift when you snuggle in bed and it's frosty and cold outside on a winters morning.
I know they are terribly unhealthy but a sausage and egg mcmuffin.. Yum!!
Aibu?

@AuntieMarys you never went to a maccies party as a kid or got taken there as a treat?! Where did you grow up?!

@daimbarsatemydogsbone hi I don’t have an organic special farm shop cafe near me what should I do? Some of us live in scary places where people eat McDonalds and don’t have farmz

@Lovemusic33 my “never gad a McDonald’s” isn’t down to snobbery. My nearest establishment is 22 mikes away. Highly unlikely I’m ever gonna pop there to get one.

We don’t all live near one.

For me the answer to this is the 1980s. When kids parties were in someone’s house with pineapple and sausages on a stick and a round of pass the parcel where there was no treat between the layers of paper?

I was an adult before I went to MacDonalds.

And you’ve never been to a city that has hundreds of them?

@daimbarsatemydogsbone
I get a proper breakfast from the Farm Shop - with actual bacon and sausages, mushrooms etc.

Congratulations, you're better than everyone else.

I agree with
@daimbarsatemydogsbone
.

That does not mean either of us wont eat a Mac Donald's or actually eat we we would just prefer a Farm shop breakfast given the choice.

Same here @BoredZelda. Parties were in someone's house with a little party bag and cocktail sausage from a tin.

I remember when I was a kid mid 80s a Wimpy burger opened up in the nearest city and everyone flocked there. My auntie took me once and we had a hot apple pie and a scalding hot tea. That was the one and only trip to Wimpy.

Not sure what year our city got its first McDonalds but my parents didn't do fast food anyway so I was an adult before I had one. I do love it though Grin

Yes, but if im going to a city (chester is my nearest at 2 hours away) id not be there for breakfast. Id would go to a restaurant if im out all day.

I don’t “pop” to the city

I don't think I was ever in a McDonalds till I was an adult either. The first one opened in NI in 1991 but that was a good 50 odd miles away. There still isn't one in my home town. We got a KFC about 7 miles away in the 90s and a burger king around the same time but takeaway treats were always from one of the local chippies.

Um mcds breakfast is ‘actual’ bacon and eggs? What else would it be, other ingredients masquerading as bacon and egg Grin

I would go to a farm shop cafe for breakfast if I was on holiday and had plenty of time to spare. Travel there, sit dwn, order, wait for the food, sit and eat.

But most of the time I'm leaving the house early in the morning to get somewhere. A maccies breakfast is grabbed en route. It takes a few minutes to be served and you are on your way. Or the OP's situation of having finished a night shift, I assume she was tired, hungry and wanted to get to bed, not sit inside a farm cafe for an hour.

I may as well cook my own breakfast if I've got the time to sit in a "naice" cafe and eat.

It's a bit like the fact that ds and I met dd in Spoons last weekend. We'd battled our way through the tube strike to get to central London for an open day. Dd only had 45 mins before she started work. We could have gone to a lovely family run Italian restaurant like we would normally do when on a leisure visit but that would take too long. I knew that we would be served and our food arrive in Spoons in minutes.

Me too! I was a teenager when we got a McDonald's in our town and it was a new experience. I went with my friend any her mum and her mum asked where the cutlery was and was shocked that she was supposed to eat with her hands!

Early 90s mcondalds parties were popular, the wimpy bus was where it was at though.

Although sometimes I wonder if I dreamt the party bus, it was blue/purple with cartoons on the side?

I remember the first wimpy birthday party I went to, it was for the rich kid in the class, wimpy had just opened and we had never seen any similar fast food chains here (out in the sticks a bit). I had my first Burger King when I was 7 and on holiday in Jamaica 🤣…..I will never forget my first gherkin 🤤. I don’t think we had McDonalds here until I was in my late teens.

McD's do what they do well (also quite funny in that in a supposedly destitute area, the local group of stores turned over nearly £40 million a year) and although the main menu isn't a patch on the old days due to over use of humidifiers, the breakfasts remain quality.

Do I eat them a lot? No. Do I thoroughly enjoy a double sausage and egg muffin and hash browns when I get the chance? Absolutely.

As for farm shops, yes I've got the time to travel to one. Honest.

FFS I just don't like McDonalds breakfast - it doesn't have what I want and it didn't taste of anything last time I tried one - I am just expressing a view about their breakfast that is all.

I don't like their bacon and I don't know how they manage to make sausage and eggs so tasteless.

I'm not yet one smugly decrying McDonald's food as somehow fake and boasting that I'd rather have some nice expensive food from a farm shop.
